Why Did Warren Come At Bernie?

Was Bernies's answer to the NYT wrong?

HeyZeus Martinez

Krystals articulation of the effects of homelessness on us all was absolutely correct. I have lived in Dallas for about 5 years now and have watched the homeless population continually rise. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. I am currently doing the Uber food delivery because I was working as a contractor for a Spectrum doing residential internet/cable installs which became offensive because of what they believed they could get away with paying us. To make up for the lower pay I began to do Uber on the little free time I had and realized I was making more money per hr doing Uber deliveries then doing a specialized physically taxing and potentially dangerous job. That angered me to no end and then about 2 months into doing both Uber and Spectrum installs my work truck had been broken into which was the second time in three years. This time they got every tool I needed to complete the job and would have been about 1K to reinvest in getting up and going again. So I decided that this was my moment to leave an awful exploited industry that was not something I enjoyed other then the conversation that I would have with customers everyday but the work and the slum lord mentality of the people running these operations that have contracts with the major cable companies is honestly criminal. They scare the employees into not speaking out or going to the labor board and I am so glad I am out of that world because it is demoralizing. Every now and then someone would go to the labor board and when successful months later people still at the company would randomly get handed a check. The first time that happened I was like “why am I getting this nice check”. The manager’s didn’t answer really just kind of shrugged it off as Not really knowing it came from ownership who we had no access to. Soon I was schooled to the truth that the person who broke rank and went to labor board got enough attention to have them investigate and find the shady none overtime pay they were keeping from us. As the big cable companies squeezed the small contact companies it ended up with them squeezing the techs and they just got more sly in ways of cheating us out of money. I never really connected with many other techs as I personally prefer to not mix my personal life with my business life so when I still was on FB I refused to accept friend requests from work people but there are a few guys I felt comfortable enough being friends with. When I catch up with them the first thing I ask is “have you gotten out of that hell” and for most it’s too hard but they all know the mental strain it puts on them to continue. It was freeing to be out of that environment and I have always had solidarity with workers but after doing that for about 4 years I have the utmost respect for what any laborer goes through on the daily. It’s clear that the lowest earning in the workforce are asked to often work the hardest and sacrifice holidays, graduations, and family events under the threat of being fired. Those in the managerial side of these companies would be offended if they were told they couldn’t attend their niece or nephews wedding. It is absolutely disgusting that we let these people who often are doing the necessary work to have society function have their dignity taken from them. Now I’m just doing Uber because I am at a loss of where I go from here. I personally know it’s not realistic long term but as a music lover I find happiness in listening to music for hours at a time. But Uber is predatory and I have gone on for long enough now so that’s for another time but to go back to the very real homeless epidemic in my city of Dallas I try and help in the very small ways I can. It really hurts me when I see a homeless person asking for money and a person will act like they are not even there. I imagine how that person can become broken from being treated like they are in invisible and don’t matter. So what I do is try to keep singles on me so if I am asked for some money I can give a dollar or two and so many times I have gotten a response that made me realize the money will help in this immediate moment but the recognition they receive that I treat them like a person that deserves dignity helps them much more than we may consider. It pisses me off to no end upper middle class people who are willing to give hundreds of dollars to charities but are not willing to reach in their pocket and give a few dollars to the homeless person in their city. WTF people! My favorite part of Uber is when the customer screws up with a total wrong address or they fall asleep at 3 am drunk waiting for their food. That food ends up my property and like I said the homeless population is no joke in Dallas so on my trip home I will stop at a 7-eleven or a well lit gas station and there is bound to be someone who is hungry and needing food. My favorite was a huge 5 combos from McDonald’s where I hit like 3 different spots and hooked it up. I personally believe one can judge a society by the way they treat those who have done wrong (prisoners) and those that need the most assistance. We are fucking it up real bad here in the State’s. I hope we can do better.

thank you for your comment, I had no idea how bad it's gotten to be a cable guy! they're making everyone precariat that they possibly can. I'm in tx, haven't been to dallas too much, but I've seen homelessness getting worse and worse in Houston and Austin. In Houston, there's this trendy hip coffee shop where you can pay $15 for a coffee and a tiny pot de creme, and look out the window and see a homeless encampment of at least 20-30 people under the bridge, just 100ft away

Great ep. Michael is on fire. Liz really has energized the left.

Brooksy and Krystal - the best of the best - together in the house! I come here to reintroduce myself to sanity and the real world.

Can people assess if this is too conspiratorial. Could it be that Tom Steyer was intentionally placed between Warren and Sanders, hoping Sanders would refuse to shake his hand in the heat of the moment, thereby creating the perception of a dismissive old white man who won't even be *civil* to 'nice guy' Tom Steyer? All my instincts tell me this is both not a possibility and something that could have definitely been orchestrated. After all, Steyer is only in it to protect his ass, and Lord knows he isn't going to win, but he can be part of the team to smear Bernie.

Too conspiratorial for me. Not that they won't stoop as low as they think they need, but because they deal in much broader crude propaganda. Steyer snub would be too small beer for them. 'okay good'

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. It just seemed so bizzare, surely he had a chance to do it in the past? And he interrupted them, knowing they would be arguing about the explosive lies from Warren. Also, Bernie's campaign is centred on Steyer's wealth being immoral. I just don't know why he would go out of his way to introduce himself like that, and draw that juxtaposition.
