[A patreon mishap, accidentally deleted the post tried to rewrite it:] The Rogan interview of Bernie Sanders has at at this point racked up 10 million views from an atypical audience that most likely had some youtube reactionary queued up after Rogan. That was the result of Kyle Kulinski's appearance on Rogan's platform. While there is an understandable sensibility that would reject such outlets, due to "platforming" and "legitimising" concerns I think it is a too costly strategic concession. It is also in performative contradiction to the belief that we stand at an existential crossroads right. To reject such outlets or alienate anyone willing to listen makes an almost impossible struggle harder. I sometimes believe that even establishing an interpersonal bond, despite not getting complete buy-in, is a radical act. Self-marginalisation of left-movements is a real thing and I've personally seen in it in its orthodox Marxist extreme. Such a movement existed in a ME region (Iraq) and it became a historical footnote despite (or due to) their claim to ideological purity. It wasn't even that they didn't put their money where their mouth was, they were perfectly willing to put life and family on the line, but purity came at an expense to "electoralism", local worker-sourced power and broader coalitions. It was almost an inversion, materialist approach in everything but the promotion of Marxism. The story is of course more complicated but an important part was that their narrow focus on perfection alienated them from actual workers and those they meant to represent. So strategy isn't superflous or an "added" part of leftist activism, there won't be anything to show for without it.

Same goes for Cornel West on Rogan. Solipsism and woke-scolding are a deadly combination. I am convinced they keep many people from being receptive to Left ideas. I appreciate that TMBS has condemned that shit from its inception. I do not always agree with the internationalist dimension, although I fervently believe in ending the wars, coups, and assassinations, and eliminating outsourcing. Where even Bernie can be “too nationalist” for TMBS sometimes, I am not disturbed. Some things are only Left projects in the US because we have moved so far Right that basic social democracy is considered Left. It isn’t. Look at France, where there is absolutely no visible right-wing threat to their social-Democratic safety net! (Neoliberal Macron IS a threat.) Social Democracy/Democratic Socialism with regard to the welfare state can coexist even with Constitutional Monarchy. (Denmark? The Netherlands?). It can also coexist with a strong belief in the nation-state and strongly enforced borders (although I don’t think it can coexist with putting kids in cages). Let’s get as many under the SD/DS umbrella as possible such that it becomes DEFAULT in this country, TMBS (particularly Jamie and Griscom) is Left, Sanders is Center, and Warren is Right. Then we can fight about all the rest of it. Solidarity with the French workers! Sanders 2020!!

I agree. I think language is important, so I would look for language which conveyed the idea but didn't use the label 'purity test' - solely because this became a code for the establishment to justify its inaction/incrementalism,
