I missed the first half of the show, will have to rewatch, I learn so much TMBS, so glad I became a Patreon, even if it is at the lowest level, when I get my money up, I will up my level.

The Establishment Democrats should be ashamed of themselves pushing Biden for nomination. Talking about cruelty. Cruelty to Joe and above all cruelty to the nation. And, what's with Jill Biden? Does she want to be the first lady so bad that she allows the Party do this to him. Who does she think she is? Nancy Reagan?

Totally awesome interview

In Chicago but just donated to the Isiah James campaign. Urging friends in the area to vote for him. Wishing Isiah all the best going forward.

Unrelated current affairs: would love to get a TMBS crew discussion on the Idlib-Russia-Turkey situation. Read this fascinating account here: https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2020/03/the-catherine-principle-for-negotiating-with-the-turks-let-arms-do-the-talking.html But I am not sure what to make of it. Certainly I've always thought Putin is a very, very different type of authoritatiran to Erdogan and Trump. But exactly what Putin's thinking has been is always a bit opaque to me, apart from being ultra-Russian nationalistic, Putin still has sympathy with the Non-Aligned movement. But to what degree, to what real purpose?

Yeah, I can totally believe Jill Biden is a Nancy. With these people (upper class, white, privileged, delusional) the level of delusion and self-hypnosis is extraordinarily high. It is hard for us Plebs to realize. But I was fortunate (unfortunate?) to have brushed shoulders with deep state officials and politicians as a representative of my old man at some NZ Labour Party old-boys type network gatherings. And the stench of corruption and insider gaming and air of being out-of-touch with the reality of ordinary workers lives was palpable. It churned my stomach. And this is a supposedly leftist-liberal party! In New Zealand for heavens sake! So I've never been overly optimistic the NotMeUs revolution will succeed without a shear overwhelming staunch resolute mass of numbers of working class supporters across the board --- and we are just not quite there yet. If it succeeds electorally some great progress can be made, maybe M4A, maybe the FJG. But the true revolution is going to grind along much slower, and has to, I think unfortunately, await many Boomer funerals. That's not to be down about it. It is just a very, very LONG GAME. And we are going to inevitably win. The question is only how many poor folks will have to die from unnecessary poverty, illness, depression, homelessness in the mean time.

Do not conflate "Wall Street" and "Silicon Valley" Brooksy. Both are full of rich ass-holes, but Silicon Valley is industrial capital, and so on the right side of marxist critique and ripe for cooperative formation and worker ownership. Wall Street is financial (parasitic) capital and must be destroyed, the economy does not need Wall Street and would be much better off without those rentier f__kers.

@28:00 Also those who need to "reflect" are lefties who are still hanging on to zombie neoliberal economic frames (e.g., "government needs taxes to spend" bulls*t --- this is false and dangerous, it's the other way around! Government does not need taxes to spend, it must spend first before anyone has $ to pay tax) . Consequently, we must write-in for Bernie in the General Election if Biden gets the nomination. If Biden beats Trump more people will die but in the most tragic hidden way --- from austerity. Biden is more dangerous than Trump in this respect. That's the message to Berners. Forget the primary and election if Biden ends up with plurality, the message going forward has to be to protect the poor by getting either Bernie elected by write-in (regardless of how Quixotic) or allowing Trump to be re-elected, purely to minimize harm. In the long game another 4 years of Trump is healthier for the Left, it will build a stronger left base. If Brooksy wants to be strategic then why not be ultra-strategic, this is the best way, a kind of soft accelerationism.

An important distinction that needed to be made. Not sure Brooks was conflating the two, rather pointing out how Obama was a conduit for capital in general - - which he absolutely was.
