The part about voting for Biden is unsubstantiated from all sides. Incredibly cheap argument. You need to extrapolate, because right now you seem to be saying we shouldn’t try/start because we might fail. In other words, Bernie’s loss already proved what you’re fearing Biden’s “winning anyways” would. This is poor logic. Looking forward to you straightening this one out.

Yo! Very briefly, in defence of ancestry.com (cringe) they do touch on the minutia briefly... so in my case I’m Brythonic Celt/Eastern European/Scandinavian VERY GENERALLY. BUT! They do mention the ancient passages of migration etc. when you get your results back. For instance I have a little Iberian peninsula in my DNA... the Iberians were considered “Celts” (about as useful as the term ‘Europeans’ these days) but they possess a large proportion of sub-Saharan DNA... in my best Zízek voice “and so on and so fourth”... I’m sure it’s far from perfect but interesting nonetheless. Bottom line I’m human and my ancestors came out of Africa. That’s settled at this point.

I have to agree that we aren't going to win the Democrats over by not playing hardball with them. In fact, we can't win them over. We have to force them to submit. However, not voting for Biden might not be the way to go about it. At least Biden will sign the upcoming nuclear treaties. Trump won't. Trump also deployed submarines with new nuclear weapons about a year ago. This was during a different point in the escalations between the U.S. and Iran. In a second term, I can easily see Trump using a nuclear weapon. He will feel free of consequence. He is already a maniac. Biden is basically a GOP operative in the Democratic party. But, he will sign the treaties. They are set to expire during the next presidential term. Chomsky discussed this in recent interviews. I found it compelling. Jane F. McAlevey has a better method to get capital to submit. She has been discussing organizing targeted strikes with clear demands. A series of small victories can lead to creating the conditions we need to accomplish bigger goals regarding healthcare, the climate crisis, civil rights, and foreign policy.

In 1932 FDR won by 18 points. The third parties (mostly on the left) accounted for 3 percent of the vote. FDR still made a strategic decision to shift left, even though he didn't necessarily need the votes of Socialists or Communists to win elections. He didn't triangulate to some mythical center. By a similar token, if we look back at 1992, I don't think someone could say with a straight face that Clinton was necessarily better for working people than George H.W. Bush or Perot would have been. I think it probably would have been better if he had lost. Having said that, Trump isn't George H.W. Bush (more like Hoover), and Biden isn't FDR (more like Clinton). The reality is that in 40 states, people can vote for whoever they want and it won't have any impact on the final tally. If I lived in NY or CA or MS, etc, I would probably vote Green. It's a closer call in swing states. I do think the best case is a Biden win and the Greens getting to 5+%. Worst case is Trump re-election. Regardless of what happens the libs will blame someone if they lose -- the leadership of the party has been chronically unable to learn or adapt. The broken system works for them. I don't think people should waste their time worrying about what libs think about their choices. Vote your conscience.
