Who are the Uyghurs, where do they reside, and what is their position in China? How is the Uyghur population different from that of Tibet? China and the War on Terror. How to balance hawkish calls fo a new Cold War with the worsening conditions for the Uyghurs.

The Chinese empire will have its day of reckoning with democracy, just as we will/are...

So it seems to me like there is a bit of an infowar going on, and I’m having some difficult parsing through the complexities. Max Blumenthal, Ajit Singh, and Carl Zha among others have painted a far less grim picture of the Uyghur situation. I’d be curious how Darren would respond to them: Are they getting their critique of these sources (Adrian Zenz and the Network of Chinese Human Rights Defenders) wrong? Or are they errantly conflating nefarious/ill-intentioned sources with false reporting? What, if any, of their points would he think holds water? I’d love to get some clarity if anyone could help me out. https://thegrayzone.com/2019/12/21/china-detaining-millions-uyghurs-problems-claims-us-ngo-researcher/ https://historicly.substack.com/p/demystifying-xinjiang-and-the-uighers
