What We Are Reading (Patreon)

Hope everyone is well this week. In this week's what we are reading an interesting exploration of Eurocommunism written by the great Ralph Miliband. We are deep into hopefully some form of reorientation of the US left, so it's time to look at what has worked and what hasn't during other realignments. Following that Adolph Reed breaks down the absolute failure of the US left, at an important time, it is interesting reading this today know what would happen over the next six years. Anton Jager is great as always on US populism. Matthew Yglesias's idea that we need a billion Americans always seemed off to me. Jacob Bacharach shows why that feeling was not unwarranted. And lastly, Mark Fisher's essay "Exiting The Vampire Castle," we are planning on doing an episode devoted to returning to this important work soon, so jump into it if you haven't read it already.
Lastly, we have the full version of the Michael Parenti lecture that we played a brief clip from on the last TMBS postgame. As always reach out if you have any questions or things you'd like to explore soon.
Best,
David Griscom
