Lisha was mistaken about Prop 25. Voters unfortunately did NOT vote to end cash bail in California. https://electionresults.sos.ca.gov/returns/ballot-measures Progressives were split on this proposition because it introduced a new system of pretrial detention in exchange for getting rid of cash bail. However close observers of Sacramento strongly felt that until we end the cash bail industry and its influence as a monied interest on the Capitol, that we won't be able to make progress, and that we stood a much better chance of reforming the objectionable, racist pretrial detention system which was introduced as a last-minute legislative compromise to get SB10 passed.
