That was fun! I think the last 'knew' in this sentence should be 'know': 'She could read it all over his face, she knew that he could tell she could knew,...' I really like the dynamic between Brian and Emily. I think having Stephanie and Megan's chatter in the background is the right choice, no matter how much I want to see more of Stephanie. He got so close and then skidded away. Great stuff!

Brian probably needs to have a moment where he talks about his past to the group. Also Emily is totally right in that if brian finds out that they are under any kind of influence. Well, let's just say that it has a 9/10 chance to devastate him, and cause him to second guess everything. But, it isn't something that you can hide and he needs to know, looking forward to it but not really at the same time xD. Thanks for the chapter and good to be back!

I have mixed feelings about dropping the conversation with Megan. I agree it would detract from the important Emily-Brian discussion, but if she's going to be in the thick of the imminent Chloe mess, it would be good to know a bit more about her motivations and sense of involvement. How she acts will be determined by how much she knows and how strongly she feels a part of the "girl squad". You've developed her character a bit beyond just being a (now former?) friend of Steph, so she's gone beyond being an auxiliary character like Kelly's sister. I'm not saying I want Megan to be part of the harem, but if not heading that way why is she in the middle of the action? Or maybe she isn't/won't be? Maybe she'll just get separated in the scramble and sidelined for the moment? If she is involved in the battle, I suppose the additional information could be quickly summarized by revealing her thoughts about "what Steph told me", and/or "what I saw" (while walking to the convention). Well, enough second guessing! Whatever you do, I love your story and characters. I can hardly wait to see what's next!

This may be wishful thinking on my part, but with the talk of rapidly switching POV's as the climax comes to a head, I would LOVE to see some pacing and humor reminiscent of the final scenes from the movie "Clue." You can't tell me these 'super-geeks' don't have a place in their collective psyche for Tim Curry.

Obviously I don't know how the author is planning to get Brian cleared of the false allegations, but I think Chloe may be underestimating her popularity as a cosplayer. If just one photo surfaces of her using Brian's phone and it's connected to the attack on Stephanie (which is a matter of public record, IIRC, since they filed a complaint), her story and credibility fall apart.
