Takezo Kurata has a love forr the Koto instrument. This year he's the only one joining the Koto club and has to find 5 members or else it will get disbanded. Kudo a delinquent tries joining but Kurata doesn't trust him. Until we find out why he wants to join. Along with Mizuhara, a Koto prodigy who wants to take the club to finals. But the vice principal don't like the koto club... he sets up a challenge to have a song by one month or they're cooked!

Ugh I love this series. There's not much music in the beginning cause Kudo's backstory is so much to unpack but you'll hear a lot more once they start actually learning how to play. Any original koto song shown in this anime (including the one we saw the kids play) were written by either the author's sister or mother. My personal fave is Tenkyuu but that's far from now Also on Kurata's nickname. "Yamato Nadeshiko" is an archetype for the ideal Japanese woman based on traditional standards. Which means this insult has layers cause they're not only insulting Kurata's non-aggressive personality but also the fact he's in such an old school and girly club. The American equivalent would be calling him a trad wife

Loool OOOH The nickname was actually an insult okay I got it 🤣 Dang they ain't gotta do my boy like that. But that's fire, its all original music made by author's family. Oh woow so this is probably a much more personal story to the author than just a made up one. Off the first 3 eps they def did a lot of character unpacking more than music which honestly does make the show itself hit a lot better, I like plots like this!
