This is a really well done movie but it is really hard to watch. So yeah, this was a tough one Nia. Thanks for watching it, I know it wasn't easy. Now, everytime I've watched this movie when people were speaking Somali they had the subtitles. Maybe having closed captioning in english cancels out the original subtitles for when people speak Somali in the movie. That's my theory, because you should have been able to see subtitles when Somali is spoken. Also the guy who played Colonel McKnight, the badass guy who was in the Humvees and took refused quit was actor Tom Sizemore, he was also in Saving Private Ryan as Tom Hanks right hand man. The actor passed away 2-3 months ago. The poor guy had a troubled life. There's so many actors in this movie who are super famous now, I'd list them but then my comment would be super long. I'll say one though, Captain Steele, the guy with the shaved head, kind of strict but well meaning guy was played by Jason Isaacs aka Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter.

That was a rough one, thank you for braving through it, Nia! The term "skinnies" came from Robert Heinlein's book "Starship Troopers", which was widely read and passed around in deployments (but now that think about it, it might make it even worse lol). It was the nickname given to a race of aliens who were aiding the main villain alien, the arachnids. If I remember correctly from the Blackhawk Down book, the death letter at the end was from Randy Shughart, one of the Delta snipers that volunteered to secure the second crash site by themselves. That's the same gentleman whose wife just missed his call before the mission and whose corpse was dragged around in the streets by the mob. His wife found out about his death when she saw that footage on CNN. The 75th Ranger Regiment (training) named their MOUT (military operations in urban terrain) facility after the Delta snipers Shughart and Gordon. I've had the honor of training there once as an airborne holdover waiting for orders. The place is kept immaculate. Saw 1SG Eversman there too. Most chill 1SG ever. Would never be able to guess this shit happened to him. Historically the movie is fairly accurate, but there were a few changes for the flow, and a singular character change.
