Hey guys! I'm actually doing this image as a series of two posts - one for the image process/sketch, one for the HD file/layer tier - so here's round one!

This piece took something around 10 hours to make (I think?? I plowed through it in the matter of an evening and a day off, haha!), so instead of just sharing the sketch, I wanted to share each step along the way. Let's dive in!

1) Rough sketch - SUPER messy! Did ever character as their own layer so I can fiddle around with their placements. Fun fact: Rainbow Dash changed location 3 times before settling on the top left haha

2) Refined sketch - there's NO WAY I'd be comfortable lining the piece with the way it was above. Clean it up and slap some wings on there! In all honesty, I could've colored and stopped here, but I wanted to make this piece something special. After all, the decade was coming to a close, and it had been years since I had drawn them all together :")

3) Lines - easily the longest part of the process. Normally I actually like doing the lines in my drawings, but this part was SO TEDIOUS I got sick of it pretty early on haha!

4) Colors - THANK GOD SOMETHING OTHER THAN BLACK AND WHITE. I was really thankful to have made it this far, and I'm glad I could just eyedrop their colors from screenshots and such easily!

5) Shading - I kind of slacked on the shading, but it's my least favorite (and weakest) part of the art process. I'm just glad I put some depth into them at all ;)

6) Final Details - Oh man, the difference colored lines can make! I very rarely feel comfortable with just black lines, and I think this piece shows exactly why I like to take it a step further.

Until next time.. see you around! (especially if you're in the Chonk tier, as the version without watermarks and the layers will be available to you just minutes after this has been posted!)
