Jimmy noticed something was wrong long before he admitted it to himself. It started as subtle discomfort. A queasy roll in his stomach that didn’t fade after breakfast. A strange heaviness that settled low in his abdomen during long shifts, as if his body was holding something that it hadn’t asked for. He blamed the station food first—too greasy, too late at night. Then stress. There had been many calls lately, back‑to‑back runs that left him buzzing even hours after getting home.

It made sense that his body felt off. Firefighting took everything out of you.

But the nausea didn’t behave like stress. It came in sudden waves, catching Jimmy when he bent to lace his boots or climbed into the engine. The smell of smoke sometimes turned his stomach so hard he had to step outside and breathe through it. His appetite swung wildly. Some days, he couldn’t look at food. On other days, he felt hollow and empty, as if he needed to eat right now or something inside him would collapse in on itself.

However, what bothered him most was the bloating. His turnout pants pressed tighter around his waist than he wanted to admit. They weren’t snug; they were uncomfortably tight. By the end of a shift, his lower belly felt stretched and sensitive, warm under his hand when he absentmindedly caressed it. The sensation didn’t feel like muscle soreness. It felt more like an odd fullness that persisted, never truly disappearing.

Jimmy ignored it for as long as he could. He was good at that. Good at pushing through discomfort, good at telling himself he’d deal with it later. But that “later” arrived one morning in the station bathroom when the world tilted, his mouth flooded with saliva, and he barely made it to the sink before retching. Nothing came up, only the sound of his ragged breathing. But the sharp burn in his throat finally made fear creep in.

He immediately scheduled an appointment for that same day, without telling anyone—not even Chief Marcus Hale.

Hours later, Jimmy sat on the edge of an exam table, with his hands folded lightly on his lap as paper crinkled under him. His heart beat too fast in the empty, still room. The doctor had ordered blood tests first, then asked the nurse to repeat them. Nurses came and went with polite smiles that didn’t feel honest. One of them even asked him—twice—if he was sure about the information he had written on his chart.

By the time the doctor suggested an ultrasound, Jimmy’s eyes couldn’t widen further.

He lay back, taking deep breaths to control his sudden anxiety as the doctor prepared everything. When the gel touched his skin, it was cold, shocking enough to make him flinch. Jimmy could feel his stomach flutter as many terrible scenarios crossed his mind. Then, the screen flickered to life, and gray shapes came into focus. Jimmy watched, tilting his head slightly, trying to make sense of what he saw, and he gasped right when the technician froze.

Then the sound came.

They heard a symphony of fast, steady sounds that they both recognized immediately. Jimmy flinched, turning pale but waiting for an explanation that would dismiss his thoughts as wrongful.

“Do you hear that?” the technician asked, glancing at him.

Jimmy nodded as his throat tightened. “Yeah,” he whispered. “I hear it.”

The technician stared in awe, capturing the screen as his hand handling the probe stopped. “Okay,” he said gently, clearly struggling to remain calm. “I’m going to get the doctor.”

Jimmy’s heart pounded in his chest as the room seemed to shrink around him. He stared at the screen, at the flickering shapes that no longer looked abstract. It was probably a mistake, but he swore there were four distinct forms on the screen.

The doctor came into the room a moment later, studying the screen in silence before turning to Jimmy with a calm expression. “Jimmy,” he said, “you’re about eight weeks along.”

He blinked at the doctor. “Along? What?”

“Pregnant,” the doctor clarified softly.

“I’m sorry, what?” Jimmy couldn’t believe his ears.

“You are pregnant,” the doctor repeated, then added, “with quadruplets.”

The word hit him like a physical blow. “What? Quadruplets? That’s—” His voice cracked.

The doctor nodded. “Four. Four babies. All with strong, healthy heartbeats.”

Jimmy didn’t hear much after that. The room felt too small, the air too thin. His hands trembled where they rested on his thighs, digging his fingertips into denim as if to keep himself anchored. He was pregnant with four babies. The words echoed in his head—absurd, impossible, but undeniably true.

His career flashed through his mind in broken images: the engine bay, the weight of gear on his shoulders, and the rush of heat and smoke. “I’m a firefighter,” he whispered, almost to himself. “I can’t… I mean, I don’t know how—”

“I’d recommend you take one step at a time,” the doctor said gently, and the technician nodded. Their expressions mirrored his fear.

But the reality pressed in anyway, making his breathing shorten. He wouldn’t be able to work the same way. Not in his condition. Not with four babies growing inside him. Jimmy couldn’t help but wonder what his crewmates would say. And then, uninvited but inevitably, came the memory of Chief Hale—or simply Marcus for Jimmy.

He remembered a quiet night eight weeks ago. The locker room lights were low, and the whole station settled peacefully. But Marcus’s body felt fantastic over his, solid and strong, heated up and sweaty, with a faint bite of smoke that Jimmy loved. The way Marcus’s weight pinned him down was incredible, making Jimmy feel protected and deeply desired.

Hands everywhere, brushing Jimmy’s body with such passion that he couldn’t help but gasp. The intensity of it had been overwhelming, as if Marcus knew how much Jimmy could take and wanted to give him all of it. Jimmy remembered how his body stretched around a thick, foot-long monster cock, opening willingly because it needed the shaft to go deeper. There had been love in it, but lust and desire were the triggers that ignited everything.

That memory made the shock fade into something else. Jimmy left the clinic in a daze, with discharge papers folded in his pocket and one hand pressed flat to his abdomen as if he could feel something already changing beneath his skin. And despite everything, he smiled.

A month passed, and Jimmy’s body changed fast after that. The nausea deepened. Fatigue became a daily companion. And his belly rounded, going from bloated to a subtle curve that startled him every time he looked at his reflection in the mirror. He hid it under loose shirts or oversized hoodies. He kept his distance at work, ducking away when Chief Hale’s arm slung around his shoulders or when his hand landed at the small of Jimmy’s back.

Still, Marcus noticed anyway—he always did.

Jimmy tried hard to act as if nothing was happening, but he knew the pregnancy was something he couldn’t keep secret for long. Instead, it was more evident with each passing day. One morning, Jimmy was in the locker room, staying behind longer than usual to avoid undressing before his crewmate’s eyes. He slowly pulled his shirt over his head, breathing out as the cooler air brushed the tender skin of his abdomen.

He wanted to avoid curious eyes, but Marcus walked in.

“Hey,” Marcus said, and Jimmy froze.

Marcus lifted one eyebrow as his eyes scanned Jimmy’s surprised face, then went lower to the visible curved middle. Jimmy could no longer pretend. His 12-week pregnant belly was on display before the man who had caused it.

“Uhm… Hey,” Jimmy responded, blushing and looking away.

Marcus approached, visibly concerned. “Are you okay? You’ve seemed off lately.”

“I’m fine,” Jimmy said quickly. Too quickly.

Marcus didn’t call him on it but reached out, resting his hand against Jimmy’s abdomen. The contact sent a shiver straight through Jimmy.

“I’ve noticed the weight gain,” Marcus whispered.

Jimmy swallowed. His chest felt tight and full of emotions—fear, relief, and a strange, fragile hope. He nodded once. Then he took a breath so deep it felt like it scraped his lungs.

“I’m pregnant,” he said.

Marcus went still.

“With quadruplets,” Jimmy added, so low it was barely a whisper.

Marcus’s eyes widened. “Quadruplets?”

Jimmy nodded again. “And they’re… they’re yours.”

Silence.

Marcus’s face drained of color, then flushed, emotions racing across his features faster than Jimmy could track. Then he exhaled—something between a laugh and a sigh—and leaned in, closing the distance between them. His mouth found Jimmy’s, brushing their lips together like he needed the contact to believe what was happening. The kiss was warm and tender as their breaths blended into one in the passion of the moment.

Marcus’s hand stayed on Jimmy’s belly, spreading his fingers as if memorizing the curve. The touch sent a low spark through Jimmy’s body, a pull that made his knees feel weak. Marcus moved closer until their chests brushed. The solid weight of him pressed in just enough to make Jimmy aware of every muscle on the chief’s strong chest.

Jimmy’s heart pounded hard in his ears, and heat bloomed under his skin as the kiss deepened. The fear that had been burning inside him loosened, replaced by comfort and warmth. His hands lifted without thinking, gripping Marcus’s shirt, anchoring himself to the big man, unwilling to let him go.

“This is the best news I’ve ever had,” Marcus whispered into Jimmy’s mouth.

Jimmy blinked, stunned. “You’re not mad?”

Marcus shook his head, dropped to one knee, and softly kissed Jimmy’s rounded abdomen four times. “Not a chance,” he said, pausing for a few seconds to contemplate the belly where his babies were growing. “But there is one thing bothering me.”

“What—what do you mean?” Jimmy asked, and his heart skipped.

Marcus stood, cupped Jimmy’s face, and kissed him again. “It bothers me that we’re not official,” he said. “These kids won’t come into this world to have a single dad.” His thumb brushed along Jimmy’s jaw. “So if you agree with it, I want us to be boyfriends. And in the near future, I want to get married.”

Jimmy gasped in surprise as his heart melted. Then he smiled and slipped his arms around Marcus’s neck. “Yes,” he said eagerly.

Marcus laughed softly and kissed him again, deeper this time, like sealing a promise. Their bodies pressed together, with Jimmy’s belly between them, pulling them closer around the four babies they had created.

Jimmy closed his eyes and let himself lean comfortably into Marcus’s weight. For the first time since the ultrasound, his chest loosened, and the tight knot of fear finally eased.
