Part of me wonders about, in the Pokemon universe, how well known pikachu is as a Pokemon. Like, from our perspective, everyone knows about the little guy because of it’s the franchise mascot, but is it like that everywhere in the Pokemon universe? Imagine you just go to a region that doesn’t have any and nobody knows what Pokemon you’re talking about.

Continued proof if Apollo was a Gym Leader he would be one in a region that SPECIFICALLY did not have Pikachu and he'd be confused when a trainer brings one in from outside the region.
