Another example of working smarter not harder- when we were putting together all the assets into the final video, we realized that we fully forgot to assign a background artist for Section 14, Shot 4. Unfortunately, the deadline was upon us and we just did not have the time to render out a whole new background with crowds. It was our first time building a production pipeline this big, so something was bound to be missed, and it just happened to be this.

So! Time to recycle. At this point, we had a nice little collection of backgrounds illustrated by Sam, so Kaden went through the asset library and pulled this bg from Section 13. The background was then flipped horizontal, Ghost was placed neatly in between the foreground and background layers, and boom! Suddenly this was our intention all along. ;)

As much as we wish we had the time and money for 100% original backgrounds every time, sometimes the best solution is just to recycle.

Reusing the background from section 13 worked so well for 14! To me it gives spatial context. Like it plays into just how massive this setup was for the panel as wall as why it would feel extra overwhelming when people start to show up.

Love seeing stuff like this, and I can promise you in the final video it’s not even noticeable haha. (And I would know, I’ve been listening to the vid on repeat while drawing probably like 20 times)
