I've finished the first round of concept sketches on the redesigns for this video! (The process has Mostly been reading all the thousands of responses ive gotten, oh my head)Since the purpose of this video is to redesign the pokemon based on what the audience wanted/liked I thought before I started on my second round drafts that it would be nice to get any feedback/suggestions you guys might have! So I included the patch notes on a couple designs that were more subtle changes and also left references for the original designs. Please lemme know your thoughts on what you think of the changes so far and if theres any additional changes you think would make the designs better, if theres any changes you just dont like in comparison to the original (don't worry abt hurting my feelings on this! im going completely off of other peoples opinions for this entire video so i will not take it personally), or if theres any changes you would undo/things from the original design that you think should be kept in tact!

THE COLORS ON QUAQUAVAL ARE SO PRETTYYYYYYY YESSSS

Dark Heart

I love all of these so much!! The only thing I could really think of suggesting is maybe adding marking on flamigo that correlate from the tatsugiri it eats? Other than that I don’t have much to say other than these are a lot better!! Also thank you for adjusting Quaquaval’s colors in the concept sketch. It flows more nicely in the evolution line to me :) Again great work as always! Can’t wait to see the finals!

Rheanna

You gave the Quaxly line a smaller ass. That’s all any of us can really ask for :’)

Gh0stiB00

Really like the middle Flamigo colours, my favourite by far. Love what youve done with the design has really pushed it to feel more like an actual pokemon and not just a friggin flamingo. Quaxwell and Quaquaval with the more aqua/lighter blue keeps more with the theme of the original form and I think makes it far more cohesive. Also living for what you've down with Squawkabilly, he looks really slick and cool more like a greaser. Overall think youve really inhanced these forms with the work youve done, love them <3 <3 <3

RemyRouj

Ok ok ok do love this my only notes are the 1st orange lave mf is way too similar between 1 and two, I think it would look better removed and instead having a 2 state evaluation. Second the last one is a beautiful but not a pokemon, too detailed for pokemon, but they look great the muted colors totally work for the style and still making it cohesive. Great shapes and balance between sections mwah mwah

I think Palafin is the only one I'm not sure about, just because I think in these sketches it looses that appealing zaniness? It starts to have the same problem that a regular Palafin or Finizin has where it ends up looking like just a dolphin

fennixyu

Hi! These are all so good for real! My only thing is i think palafin is a bit too saturated, the blue hurts my eyes a bit but thats all!

☆Lead☆

I LOVE that Squawkabilly redesign. If it looked like that I would definitely have wanted it on my team :)

fennixyu

Oh! Also you didn't change anything about baxcalibur but imo hes very underwhelming and looks like playdoh, he would benefit from being a bit more spiky, bent over like arctibax, if you ever decide to redesign that one too ^^

thank you for fixing quaquavals feet i hate them so much Okay heres my actual feedback mostly positive because i dont like being mean - crocalor looks great!! the pattern changes really make it feel more like a singer, and the face looks a clearer and feels more like a fuecoco evolution - quaxwells feet look much better (less like it put on a pair of flippers) this and the head feathers help the shape a lot - thank you for fixing quaquavals feet they've been bugging me all week - As someone who has avoided spidops because it looks real weird I like the colour palette a lot more, and the pointed legs look like it can actually spin thread - Rellor looks like it fits turning into rabsca a lot more, the standing ones match the face layout of rabsca while the other doesn't - I guess it depends on if you plan on changing rabsca too. The ball looks a lot better (less like its just a cheesy orb) - Not a huge fan of the belt details on palafin, they feel a little bit too detailed with the rest of the design being so "big shapes" (idk if that makes sense). Love the change from the tail feet to an actual tail. How the hell does palafin walk like that seriously. - Squawkabilly looks a lot more like a pokemon and a lot less like just a bird (I have no problem with just a bird but cmon give it SOMETHING) - flamigos colours changing actually looks really cool! adds a bit more variation to them, the pose helps it so much, i actually don't hate flamigos design but just giving it a different pose and adding the feathers really helps it not just be a flamingo. Also why is it called flamigo this thing is MEAN it is NOT MY FRIEND - I genuinely didn't know frigibax was the dragon until i saw its evolution thats just a funny lil guy, a really messed up penguin. Now its a dragon!! - gholdengo in the chest looks really good, actually looks like its hoarding all the coins you spent so long collecting.

wow these are amazing, the flamigo color idea is fantastic and i love the boxing glove shape language, it definitely reads more as fighting type that way. also loving squawkabilly’s outfit and hair, and your take on the gold gimmighoul thing is a lot better, it looks way less car-dealership-inflatable and a lot more like a coin creature. for finizen’s evo i honestly think it lost some of the strong shape language the original design has, but the cape is a great idea and i’d love to see that in the final design. and i feel like the reason why rellor’s original design doesn’t work for me is because it has so much going on on its tiny body, and on top of that, it’s almost completely concealed by its ball. maybe what would work for it is strong and simple color and shape blocking so that it instantly reads to the viewer? but i like your current concepts for it a lot anyway sorry for all the text, hope this feedback can help in some way and hope you have fun w this project, love your work 🌺

Neo-Meso Post

A lot of these are super fun! I think my only light criticism would be for Squawkabilly, which obviously is named after Rockabilly music, I love the psuedo jacket look, but the hair seems a bit too fluffy and spikey to really look like hair akin to Elvis and similar styles at the time

FoolonCool

The middle palafin looks the best of the three, not to on the nose with the hero design but enough to get the point across. The crocalor on the far right looks best with a white jaw and orange face design, sqwackabilly having more of a rockabilly look is good almost as if its wearing clothes from the era, spidops looks better with the needle like legs but gawdamn the origional design is so bad idk if it can ever be good

Druxy

Omg all of these feel SO much better! You did a great job! I LOVE the third Crocalor, the one on the ground. I think it does a similar thing the original design tried to convey without the weird bodyshape! Turning Quaxwells "flared pants" legs to more regular bird legs with thighs(?) that remind me of pumpkin pants looks wayy better and not as awkward. I do get why they decided to give original Quaxwell those legs but i dont care for them. Quaquavals slight adjustments enhance it so much more! The legs put me off the most but I also prefer its butt reduction :D I understand what you tried to do with Spidops but I dont think I prefer the thinner legs on it. It makes it look way more unbalanced. But I also like Spidops as is. I think it strikes a good balance in its design and I think more people would agree if it also had a steel typing. Since it doesnt look as organic in it final evolution. You made Rellor much more endearing to me with this iteration. I guess I understand why they hid most of the pokemon BEHIND the dungball, considering its evolution and its pokedex entry. But now Rellor looks much more like whimsical lil fun guy that i would want to catch and carry with me :3 Ohh I like how your Palafin retains more of its dolphin nature. I dont hate its canon design (aside from the condom gloves..) becuase i think its trying to be something in the same vein as almight but I do enjoy your take more! Squawkabilly has way more flair more and actually looks the way its described personality wise. Thank you! I love the pose change, i did feel like a lot of the newer pokemon did not have very good poses to show off their designs. I also like the color varieties you added to flamigo! Frigibax and Arctibax looks just a bit more polished and creature shaped, like.. less awkward/not as stiff and I appreciate that! Okay all of your Gholdengos are precious and I LOVE THEM. This is what I wanted! A weird lil guy made out of coins that carries its chest around like a turtle its shell. They are all buddy shaped and I love them so much!!! Sighs, now if only these changes would exist ingame...

PyreNotice

Quagaval: the way the "pants" end in a straight line is kind of abrupt. Maybe have the trim be feathers too? Squakabilly is almost perfect, but I think the hair ended up drifting just a bit too far from pompadour Spidops feels unbalanced between the rounded block body and sharp legs

Qnerdi

These are all so good so far, I love them!! In terms of specified feedback - Love the second Crocalor the most - I think the little bow is So Important to like pushing the singer aesthetic vibes - Balancing the shape on Quaxwell is excellent - love the duck legs. I think making it clear where the eyes are in contrast to Quaxwell's fur is also important because, for a hot second, I thought it had beady eyes bc I couldn't See that it did indeed have the same eyes as Quaxley and Quaquaval and I hate that LOL - Quaqaval looks Perf, keeps the best parts of the design with just a few edits to balance it out better. - Something you might try with Spidops is giving the ball of yarn back to it for more of an orb spider look? I know it evolves into a spool of thread for a neater look, but that's something I've kept thinking about for spidops bc i Loved the big round shape of Tarountula. I really like the sharper limbs of this version though! - I really really REALLY like the second rellor! Mostly bc I don't enjoy the face aspect to it currently. I think this design is a lot cuter, and I love the maze design on it's back, like it's one of those little plastic rolly mazes! - The third Palafin is the best one imo! The others have slightly awkward posing I feel like since they're trying to keep dolphin shape while emulating more human posing. At least in a singular still image, the third one feels most natural. I'm also biased in that I want the dolphin to Stay very dolphin LOL Regardless of which one you vibe with though, I think the flowing water cape is a great touch and should be incorporated. - squawkabilly Looks Grand, I love the extra black to make the vest more obvious. Seconding another comment though that making the hair a bit poofier to more simulate Elvis would be a great touch! - I did NOT realize flamigo was supposed to be shaped like a boxing glove, the pose is Excellent, as well as the idea of different colors based on tatsugiri! - thank u for giving frigibax A Neck. I think it's posing still makes it's body look somewhat awkward - maybe a little more separation between the head and bod could help? not a fully extended neck like arctibax, but more of a chin/jaw maybe. - mimic gholdengho, my beloved. I like keeping the antennae as well as the goggles - it feels like that grounds it more as a gimmighoul evo. I kinda like the idea of having both a mimic chest form and the golden man form - maybe that's the evo's chest/roaming forms type of thing - but if you're going with just one, I think a version that makes use of the chest it hides in is a better route.

Sunset Lemonade

I LOVE how you turned Crocalor into a friend instead of a croc with a bad hat-shaped-pinata on his head. I definitely prefer the white mask and I think the vest pattern will match the hat really well. Definitely prefer Quaxwell with the exposed legs, and transitioning into the greener colors. The bird legs are a HUGE improvement on Quaquaval, as well as minimizing that rediculous butt. I like the teal palette, but it needs a contrasting color. Maybe a pink or purple? Orange would work, but it'sless fun. (Still don't like him as a starter. All three final evos feel like such a departure from the previous generations and I don't like it) Spidops....I just don't understand the concept other then mech-spider but they didn't commit. Maybe change the face into mandibles, instead of a bad beard. Also, plump up the thorax so it reads as thorax instead of bad, 50s, scifi B-movie jet pack. Maybe look up a rocket engine, the large nozzle might have better shape language. Rabsca has the pink that should go on Quaquaval, thank you for removing it; so gross. I love the brown one, it's "fight me" pose but "ugh, not again" eyes. But the more bug like one definitely feels like a better design. I LOVE PALAFINN'S CAPE!!! But not the pelvic jewelry. I ADORE your Squawkabilly. The coat pattern is awsome and the energy of that pose is flawless! The new pose on Flamigo helps with the shape language a lot, and the different colors for diet is really cool. To make the boxing look more obvious I'd maybe give it some bandage pattern or a black eye. On frigibax I'd extend the light gray up the snout to lengthen the face. Maybe remove the blue dot or move it to the center, so it grows when it evolves; right now it makes it unbalanced. It's general shape is MUCH better. I like the squarer snout on Artibax and the orange. I'd consider making the eye brows Vs like on the hands, to repeat it, and make the filler bits on the back spikes more a thin support so it's more snow flake like. The delicate snowflake contrasting the sturdy body could make some good design tension. I love gholdengo all rounded off and chubby, such a friend. But I also like the mimic chest idea. Ok, here's some madness: split evo. If you evolve it in roaming form it turns into gholdengo, but in the chest form it evolves into a full mimic chest with grabby arms like mimikyu. Then it and mimikyu can be friends. As always, LOVE your work. These are coming along awsome! 🥰

Like the new batch. My thoughts for the previous batch remain the same and since it was a bit lengthy, I won’t copy it here. Good work as always 👍 -Quaxwell: The simple change of shortening the feather leggings has made the design much better. Between the two hair colors, I like the lighter color with the dark crest. -Quaquaval: overall like the change, just wondering if it would be better to have the stork feet or give it webbing to resemble duck feet. -Spidops: would it be cheating to say it should be made to resemble a beyblade? In all seriousness, maybe instead of having its limbs along both sides of its body, it could have its limbs form a ring around the body and change its concept to being a top creature (like hitmontop) with the spider web acting as a spring to provide rotation. -Rellor: I like the middle option the most. Not sure if they show up in areas with the ominous gates, but maybe the pattern on its back could resemble their pattern? -squawkabilly: definitely an improvement. Giving me vibes of greasers/Elvis/ Bruce Springsteen. Think the black coat look also works for the different squawk colors. Maybe the shiny version could be white if going for the Elvis look? -Flamigo: like the lore connection of color changing based off which sushi Pokemon it eats. Good reference to flamingo diets causing their color. Stance change would also be cool. -Frigibax: my god you actually fixed it.

ShyMouse

Hello!! I think the middle croclar has the best design out of the three so far, but the main issue I've had with it is the markings on it and the rest of its like. I'd more prefer them to have a more organic look to them. Quaxwell looks so much better with the duck legs instead of the weird pants it has, the downsized hair feathers also works so much better, and the colors on the first design looks the best. Quaquaval's 1st colors look really pleasing and the change to the body structure looks great. I'm glad the weird feet are gon but the tips of the toes being the color or his eyebrows still bugs me. Idk where the color should move too it would look better somewhere else. I still prefer spidops original design, but the adjustment to the colors and the slight change in head shape look nice. My main issue is the legs are too thin to me and can be harder to read so giving them some of the chunk back may help. I forget the little beetle guys name, but I didnt really have any issue with the original design except for the little weird nose it has. However, the middle design is also very cute and endearing. Paladins colors are a bit much, too bright, and I don't really like the belt it has on. The 3rd design is my preferred and I'm so happy the condom gloves are gone! Frigibaxs original design was so goofy and endearing to me, I think it follows in other dragons foot step (goodra, altaria, and noivern) by not looking how youd expect a dragon to look and i like that. I do like making the color of the hand spikes and eyes match on arctibax. Baxcalibur is the one that needs the most work in my opinion, it's not that bad just underwhelming. Sqawkabilly looks alot better with the black being more incorporated into the design and not just glooped on one part or its design. I like the implied jacket. I do think the "hair" needs more roundness to call back to the rockabilly fashion more. All I have to say about flamigo is the color variants are an interesting idea. I don't have any strong opinions about this guy. I don't have any strong feeling about gholdengo either, but he is on the weirder side. The version with the silver eyes is my preferred one though. Hope any of this helps! Keep up the great work!

Keep up the amazing work June, I don't I want to drum up everything for being too nitpicky but I figured I'd compartmentalise my bigger thoughts - I've realised what I wanted from Quaquavel, and it's Pokémon Pavé (Animal Crossing) he is simple but flavour, flamboyance and FESTIVALÉ!! - Spidops, I feel like it's a step into making it less derpy, but it also makes it a step closer to a standing Ariados. Imo it's key is the spool butt, I think the derp is fine if you can utilise this fact, make its legs sewing needles or knitting needles? I'd rock a knitty spider mom - I saw someone say Flamigo is supposed to look like a boxing glove and I didn't really see it until now, I'd like to see like a pose where its attack stance is just readying it's butt at the enemy, make it look like a glove that's ready to "punch" That's the biggest things on my mind, hope it helps in any way, probably had one too many "butt" takes. I do love seeing how you work, and especially live during the stream, hope you're doing well and not taking on too much at once, and have loaaaaads of calamari! P.S. Squawkabilly looks too cool, someone give that bird a mic!

These all are already looking way better! I have some notes on how I personally would tweek the official Quaquaval design. Keep in mind I am not knowledgeable in Pokemon design or the cultures/history surrounding the pokemon: I absolutely despise the official Quaquaval design. The solid blue color of the head and the waist down with the wave stripes makes it hard to tell which part of the body is which. All the other water type starter evolutions and their stages are based on a single animal and show pretty clearly though their silhouettes. Quaquaval speculated to be based on a crested duck and a peacock which for me muddy the design more imo. To Fixing it: Tweaking the legs and removing the webbed toes already helps its silhouette a whole lot. The 1st colors are already a lot more pleasing I think adding a another highlight color like the red since its supposed to be flashy and flamboyant ive seen people pull up the pants and make the legs orange which looks a lot better Changing the color of the legs and hair to different separate colors and changing the wave patterns can do a lot I think that can be pulled off since Greninja and Inteleon both have 5 colors. (hope this helps in some way ^^)

Jay

How the fuck did you actually make Skwakability look good??? You’re a wizard.

Miss Liz

I ADORE the new Quaquaval he captures the idea but makes it look so much better 😍 Skwakabilly is GORGEOUS yes please. Spidops is a little funny looking personally, like he doesn’t have enough aspects to him. He looks simpler than the original and like he lacks something. Maybe look into what he’s based on more and take some concepts from that? Crocalor looks so much better with your designs, he looks stupid and derpy in the original with an all white face and funky sombrero. The middle and right are my favorites personally, but I trust your judgement!! Keep up the good work 😎

BobaMilkyy

I love them so much! You did such a great job!! Honestly I really wish pokemon had done the designs like you did but oh well :') I love how much more pokemony you made them look? If that makes any sense? Like gen 9 genuinely doesn't look like a real pokemon generation to me and you managed to fix them. I especially love Quaquaval! Sorry this wasn't really the best feed back on the designs themselves, but I really wanted to let you know that they look great :)

claire

Crocalor HAS to keep the white face, he looks like a lil clown and I love that for him. Plus, it helps give the line a unifying design quirk from start to finish, as I’m pretty sure that skeledirge also has the white skull/clown face. I love the quaxly second evo’s pose, it helps to convey it’s personality much better now. I think Spidop’s needle arms tie in nicely to the “spool/thread” theme going on, plus the sharp shapes make it look a little more sassy and capable than the wrapping paper tube arms. I like the bug on top of his lil ball, he looks very serious which his funny considering his small size. In terms of Palafin, I like the cape that extends down his shoulders like wings. The new pose for the flamingo helps convey the secondary theme of the design much better. Also, bringing in biology to spice up an otherwise kinda boring design colors-wise is neat!!! Gholdengo as a mimic I love, but I like the pile of friend shaped coins a lot better. These are all really awesome designs and I can’t wait to see the final product (:

wheeliescoot

I think a paler blue/purple would work much better for the dolphin guy. Other than that DAMN these are good redesigns!

SapphireWitch

Amazing work on all of them but I don't like Spidops redesign and it all has to do with the needle arms, the arms make me think gross or kill it and that makes it feel less like a Pokémon to me and it losses the fun aspect of the original design of producing and weaving their web with their arms. So maybe instead of needle arms, what about simply thinner arms?

Animady

I think your 1st and 2nd Palafin design feel the best. I think the main focus is the heart on his chest, but his little shoulder/cape bits push the view point away. It would be cool if the shoulder pads push the view out towards the cape, but the edges of the cape bring your eyes back into the design, but that's just my opinion
