November Wrap, December Plans (Patreon)

Hey folks! It's been a little while since I've done one of these. Part of it was because I reached a point where I didn't think it made sense anymore to do monthly updates. My thinking was that if something major happened in my life, it wouldn't really affect the patreon, so why bother?

That was... not true. Many many many things have been happening in my life. So many things, in fact, that I'm breaking them down into sections. Cause there is a lot to cover.

Personal Life

Long story short, Dandy and I are getting a divorce. I'm... fine. At time of writing, the separation has been amicable. I have a lot of support from both friends and family, and I have a place to stay one the lease is up in February. All of that is really good, but it also means that currently the patreon and the ko-fi are my only sources of income. I'm gonna have to reckon with that and figure out what makes the most sense, but at the bare minimum I will keep making comics well into the future, even if I need to get a part time job to support that.

Prints

It's been... over a year since I've had a new print available? Yeesh. I mean at least the old print was available for new patrons, but still.

I'm sorry. This is actually something that's been eating at me for a while. I know most of you are here to support my art, but a regular print rotation is still something I promised to my higher tier patrons, and I haven't been delivering on that. Unfortunately, due to the way patreon's distribution works, I can't just send everyone a bunch of overdue prints all at once. It sucks but the only right thing to do is to offer a refund to folks who want it. If you're one of those people, please get in touch with me, either here or at mollyjamescommissions@gmail.com, and we'll figure something out.

With that said, have a new print!

Yeah, starting this month I'm putting prints back into regular rotation. Prints were good! I've seen some of them out in the wild now and they're actually really nice? I like them a lot. So yeah. Have more art for your wall.

The Miss James Holiday Annual

In 2021, 2022, and 2023 I had a pinup zine available exclusively for the month of December. Each of these was full of horny art centered around a particular character. I wasn't able to put one together for 2024, but I do have art that was meant for it from last year. Rather than make all of the old zines available again, I'm going to compile everything from 2021-2024, including the unreleased art, and make it available for patrons starting next Monday. Consider it an extra thank you for supporting me through a... very turbulent year.

That's not all though! While I don't have a character specific zine for 2025, I do still have a lot of horny art that I've been making incidentally throughout the year. This art isn't exclusive, it's all stuff you can find on tumblr or bluesky, but I haven't had a good opportunity to share it on patreon until now. Everything before 2025 will remain relatively exclusive (aside from some select previews), but going forward this is the approach I'll be using for the Holiday Annual.

Wires Crossed

We're getting pretty close to the end - I was actually hoping to finish the comic, sans epilogue, by February. That's probably not happening? Like, maybe I could do it if I did two pages every week up to then, but between holiday plans and moving that's just not a realistic target. But we are still close to the end.

Normally I take December off and donate half the patreon money to charity, but due to a confluence of circumstances that's not going to happen this year. Because of my current financial situation (bad), I can't actually afford to donate anything. But I'm also not taking the month off. Wires Crossed will continue to update as normal through the month of December.

I'm Going To France

Surprise! I mean, if you know me personally or follow me on tumblr you already know about this, but if not, surprise! I was accepted into a residency. I'll be spending three weeks in Orquevaux with a retinue of other artists and writers, getting to learn and collaborate together. Honestly I don't really know what to expect, I've never gotten to do something like this before, but I'm very excited!

It's also weirdly poetic.

The Wrap Up

Okay, is that everything? I think that's everything. If I missed something I'll get to it next month.

I guess this is what happens when I don't do these regular check ins. Life gets away from me and suddenly the patreon falls out of step. As you can see there's a lot of bad, but there's a lot of good to. My art has gotten better - my relationship to art has gotten better. I like doing this. I want to keep doing this.

I don't know fully what the future holds. I got the next few months planned out, but after that... bleh. I've got projects, I've got ideas, I've got like four comics I want to work on after Wires Crossed is finished. Seriously, I've got roughs and concept sketches for four different comics. We live in strange scary times, but I'm still here. And I'm gonna keep drawing. That I can promise.
