Elena, baby, your legs are wider than Robert’s during football practice!”

Ethan stiffened, cheeks flaming. “I— I just sat—”

“No excuses!” Sam snapped in his high, playful, sharp voice. “Close them. No, closer. Closer. Pretend you’re wearing a dress that cost more than your dignity.”

Ethan swallowed hard and obediently drew his legs together, shoulders curling inward slightly.“Relax the tension, darling. You’re not doing a hostage negotiation. You’re being soft. Feminine. Effortless.”

Ethan felt humiliation simmer under his skin — not anger, not shame exactly — but the painful awareness of how naturally Sam expected him to slip back into Elena’s body.

Sam stood back.“Better. MUCH better. Now voice — go high. Give me ‘sweet friendly lab intern,’ not ‘boy trying to order pizza at midnight.’”

Ethan exhaled shakily.“Um… like this?” he asked softly, forcing the pitch upward.

Sam squealed. “Yes! THAT! See? My girl remembers everything!”

Ethan wanted to correct him — I’m not your girl — but he couldn’t say it.Sam had supported him, pushed him, believed in him when he didn’t.
