Padmé upon learning that anakin murdered young people in the jedi temple, betrayed the order and helped the empire rise to power. After that Anakin didn't become a machine, he defeated Obi Wan, who fled to Tattoine.    She hasn't lost the will to live.  Instead, she wanted revenge, she realized she needed to teach Anakin some lessons...
