Cassie had never felt more sure of herself. Since her meeting with Dr Lacroix, she had fully embraced what it meant to be an Amazon, not just in body, but in mindset. She launched her own life coaching business, Dominant by Design, and sent Jake to handle the logistics of finding them a new home worthy of her status. Now she was ready to share her experience with the women who craved it. One afternoon, a shy and uncertain girl named Lisbeth arrived at her door. She said she wanted guidance, but what is it she’s really looking for?

Man, if these two ever reconcile and fix things between them at the end of the story, they’re going to need some serious marriage counseling. Maybe they could use Klaus’ and Sarina’s therapist. 😆 Sorry for the following long essay, but I had some thoughts. As a little exercise, I was a little curious and decided after catching up on what’s been released in the series so far and went back and looked to see where Cassie’s and Jake’s relationship issues started, and you can see it pretty much right from the first few panels. After having sex with Cassie to try and rekindle that spark at the very top of the first chapter, he kind of treats the sex as sort of a convenience for a way to satisfy himself, then immediately goes onto something else when he finishes and barely regards her and doesn’t register her need for physical touch when she just wants to cuddle. You can tell she feels a bit like she’s not in control and like she’s sort of being used by him. When she brings up the Femmax and Dr Lacroix article, Jake initially disregards and demeans her opinion by calling it “high brow” and says she’s a “sucker” for those kinds of things, almost belittling and demeaning her. They also don’t communicate very well when the other wants to do something, which leads to Cassie in a later chapter buying certain items and redecorates their entire living room (with a rack of weights in place of what use to be house plants and a mirror to admire herself in, which are huge red flags) without telling him while he’s on his business trip. Not to mention in chapter 1 how Cassie immediately latches onto this part in the article she read: "EMBRACING THE STRENGTH AND ALLURE OF THE AMAZON CAN TRANSFORM NOT JUST YOUR INTIMATE MOMENTS, BUT YOUR ENTIRE PERSPECTIVE ON YOURSELF AND YOUR RELATIONSHIP." So, slightly overlooked/ignored, used by her husband to satisfy himself, not feeling in control, feeling belittled/demeaned, her option not being taken as seriously or valued as much, bad communication. So, when Cassie takes the Femmax, those negative aspects that she’s experiencing and feeling start to come out from her and get redirected towards Jake in the most extreme way possible, and she becomes a neglectful, manipulative, controlling, invalidating, dismissive, dehumanizing, monstrous, mean, harsh, gaslighting abuser with a god complex. I noticed that, in all of the comics you’ve made thus far, whatever trigger/agent introduced in the story affecting and changing the characters further enhances what is already there. If the characters relationship is healthy and balanced, it strengthens even more and enhances all aspects if it, like their bond and power dynamics. When the relationship is unbalanced and having issues, like in Prototype and this, the issues are exacerbated even further. To quote the first Captain America film, “Good becomes great. Bad becomes worse.” If I had to make some sort of guess on where the story will probably go, I think Lisbeth is going to play a part in bringing Cassie back around. She seemingly has a good and healthy relationship with Connor, and she’s still a bit hesitant about the whole Amazon thing. Maybe she comes to find that she wants to do things a bit differently and not be as controlling as Cassie wants her to be, Cassie doesn’t like that, they both come to blows in someway figuratively or maybe even physically, either something she does or whatever else happens snaps her out of her spell and we get some version of the old Cassie back and she and Jake make up. Maybe in the end they go through marriage counseling, figure out why they fell in love in the first place and find some happy medium between the two extremes of their relationship, embracing what comes with her now being an Amazon but in a much healthier way. I’ll admit, I’m usually not a fan of these kinds of stories where one of the partners who is seemingly a good person changes for the worst, starts going on a power trip and mistreats and dehumanizes the other, but I’m still intrigued to see where the story goes. Anyways, keep up the good work with this and all of your other current ongoing and future projects!
