Can’t really blame Captain Lim for cancelling the pursuit mission bc it was the commander at the beginning of the episode that was yelling at both the Captain and Sergeant Park that things need to be handled quietly so it doesn’t go to the press. So Lim took measures to honor what the commander wants but as soon as the commander gets word of a soldier getting hit by a bus he goes against his own words and blames Lim so that he doesn’t get blamed later as the commander of their base. That’s why they’re referenced as “military dogs” like the title of the episode and what Park was metaphorically referring themselves to, saying the dog gets put down for biting its owner, despite if the owner was abusing it. Another portrayal of the broken system and the screwed up hierarchy.

my opinions on victims are very complicated. on one hand you can argue that being abused doesn't excuse you from abusing others. on the other hand you can argue that everyone has a mental breaking point or not everyone has the same mental capacity of coping or compartmentalizing. it's tough to be understanding and also realize that victims can also turn in to victimizer's.

Just a heads up episode 6 has a scene after some of the credits like marvel. No spoilers of course in this comment just don’t want you guys to miss it!

Isn't it crazy to think what a cycle & system of abuse does to turn good people to a breaking point? Like you mentioned, SukBong was the kind one (in ep 1 or 2 during the shift change, he said to JunHo, "Let's be nice to our subordinates when we get the chance." & look at him now.) In S Korea, EVERY male has to put their enitre life (& career if they have one when they enlist) & give up almost 2 years of their life to serve in the military & the toxic hierarchical system of Korean society considers part of military service some "training" by your superiors. If you meet the wrong people, they can be sadistic & abusive & you're expected to just "suck it up" & endure it. (& the hazing, harrassment, & sometimes even abuse - they're all pretty common.) This show really makes you think how many people suffered in silence & carry the trauma of their military days even now.
