I don’t think the girl is the asshole for not changing the name. Her sister in law was kind of the asshole when she said she’ll tell her niece that there’s a dead baby with the same name as her and basically torment her for life. That was cringe. The world doesn’t revolve around the SIL and she or even the brother could’ve said something before. Idk what I’d do in that situation but she’s not an asshole at all.

im not gonna say that i know what that guy was thinking when he bought you workout shoes but in general guys who arent completely deranged woman haters typically are not thinking about giving women hints to get in shape. its more likely that a guy is just oblivious to insecurities. i think anyway. from personal experience, talking about building healthier habits together was interpretted as me calling my ex-wife f**. which was absolutely not the case. healthy does not correlate well with body composition. i of course learned to be more mindful but a lot of men havent learned that lesson yet. also youre flipping gorgeous, so my money is on he was oblivious.

But also, idk if the baby's name needs to be changed, especially after 4 months, I think it could be reframed as a really nice way to celebrate and remember the SIL's baby. The name change story is interesting, Ember is a pretty rare name but imagine if both was a common name like Sarah or whatever, think it would be a crazy thing to ask to change a babies name if its a common name but I think it's crazy to ask anyone to change their or their child's name at all.

I don't think refusing to change the baby's name makes them an asshole. Personally, if it were within a few weeks or something, I could 1000% see myself agreeing to changing it, but at 4 months, the baby would already have a social security number issued and all that, so it'd be such a massive undertaking to change everything.
