Ben

Cooking dinner because Mr Beast inspired you and not because your girlfriend usually always cooks is so funny. It sounds like something a child would do for their mom

MICHY!!!!!

Lok

i used to have lower back/hip area problems for years but i finally got it sorted out somehow. even if some chiropractors are legit, they dont fix the underlying problem of why things become misaligned to begin with. usually something is pulling whatever out of alignment and/or something is too weak compared to other things and allowing misalignment. for me, the lower back/hip muscle groups were weak and not activating during exercises (like at the bottom of a squat). i had to figure out the slight movements/positioning to get this slightly more into place and then also figure out how to strengthen and activate the muscles when needed. im chronically injured and i just dont have the time for physio for all my problems so i have to try and solve the problems on my own the best i can. yoga has been huge in maintaining a balance of flexibility and strength all over, but as long as i dont let my ego prevent me from modifying poses when i need to. idk why im typing all this lol

anski

I fully understand the just plain rice craving. Also just plain spaghetti, no butter or anything, fuck me UP

kron

Chiropractic is at its core completely un-scientific. The guy who invented it believed all illness could be treated by adjusting the spine to get rid imaginary ailments called vertebral subluxations. I suggest looking into it more before going. Not here to give medical advice as I'm no medical doctor... but then again neither are chiropractors xD

Milkynugs

Please avoid chiropractor's :) either go to physiotherapist or a doctor :)

Georgette Rosin

for those wondering about the garfield ride, it was at kennywood park

Georgette Rosin

i loooove popcorn ones but cant find them anywhere

Terminus

Be extremely wary of chiropractic. The roots of it are complete quackery, but modern practitioners range from complete quackery to what is essentially just glorified physical therapy. There's really zero reason to see one over a qualified physical therapist though.

Anomalous_Daniel

Maya, a lot of chiros are harmless and genuinely believe in their craft but it doesn’t make it any less dangerous. I was sent to one as a younger man and now I’ve got permanent nerve damage on my neck and shoulders. Do not trust them, the best thing they can do is awesome massages. Their schools are made up crap, no hate meant against your cousin. What you need is an orthopedic doctor, don’t take my word for it, just search for horror stories like this https://youtu.be/k7rB25rWwX0?si=zyEPA3Qol-zfqgHn

Muffinman98

Not sure if it was said but that black market tinder date is mostly likely based on an urban legend.

explizitly

not me sobbing at the garfield movie recap

L

Maya you should go to a physical therapist to get massages where you keep all your clothes on so that you can have peace of mind. I started doing that after a bad experience at a regular massage parlor 🙁

sedael

qt hated that pasta so much that was great

MICHY!!!!!

im so glad im not the only one LMAO they had no reason to make the plot so sad !!

norah abdullah

SAME OMGG ive been sobbing the whole episode

Joey

The disrespect to cutoff the Garfield praise lol

Ridorana12

38:54 The delivery of Maya's response was so hilarious. xD

Grace

I hate massages bc of my ptsd/anxiety. I've been twice and I leave feeling worse than when I came in. My doctor told me there are trauma informed physios though so that might be nice to look into :)

Torayume

This episode was hilarious!! Thank you!!

Nadia Maciejewski

I just saw that clip about the rash girl last night. It was from the Jake Shane podcast with glen Powell from that anyone but you movie. I don't what to believe either. Crazy story .

linda

a chiropractor worked on my neck a few years ago and it felt so good lol, glad i'm still alive tho

the bugwatch

qt is hearing the cruel summer lyrics wrong and i dont know how long i can keep doing this

BS

The story qt was telling about doing a test after treatment to prove that it works only proved the guy is knowingly scamming people. It's the balance bracelets all over again. When you don't have a bracelet on they push your arm harder. When you have a bracelet on they push lighter. At least with chiro which is still a scam the practitioner can genuinely believe what they do helps. So they accidentally scam you. Which doesn't help you but makes them less of a piece of shit lol

Laykin

It’s 9:18am and I am crying over Garfield’s dad who was just trying to do his best for his son 😭

Rocky

The peach ring story, that happened to me with sour patch kids. To this day my mom will always get a bag of them for me, and after 8 years I cant tell her that there are treats that I like more lmao.

Semipro

My uncle went to chiropractor for pain back pain for years and didn’t find out it was cancer causing the pain until it was at a later stage. Talk to general practitioner first.

Parker

Maya please no chiropractor they are tupid

dewey

The massage story was proven untrue and is part of like a copy pasta from years ago

GammaDan

Chiropractors can be worthwhile, but there are lots of scammers who trick you into thinking it can substitute medical treatment among other things. They can help with pain and stuff but they can’t do a ton.

Moises

qt hated the food 😭

Jot X

legit had to google the lyrics, omg I've heard it wrong every time like QT 😭

Rob Dolan

Chiropractic is as effective as regular massage and was created by a magnetic healer. shits a scam

Julie T

first he steals qt's laugh then her bakery idea and now her rice cakes smh

Sasha__qt

chiropractors are NOT scientifically proven. please go to a specialized doctor instead!

PuffTheDargon

just simply not true. Its not a cure all and doesnt work for everyone but it actually has benefits for some and works. Been going for over a decade and it definitely has helped my back and neck pain and chronic headaches.

PuffTheDargon

Find a good sports medicine chiro and physio facility. who you see matters a lot. You do a lot of heavy lifting and yard work basically like construction. You then sit at a desk a decent amount for work. Physiotherapy can be really good in combination with chiro and massage for muscle and skeletal help. Theyre inexpensive (at least here in canada) and at minimum worth trying out for a few weeks. Dont be afraid to shop around and find somewhere good. Not all chiro are equal.

PuffTheDargon

Also like... take time off. You dont take weekends really and your constantly doing stuff. Recover is very important. Swimming ironically also very good for your back and joints as like low impact movement. Dont go hard just get in the water and move around a little.

Sasha__qt

Massage is a great idea for back pain. and im pretty sure you can ask for a female masseur!

PuffTheDargon

Qt... the chances of dying from a chiro neck adjustment are like 1 in am million... you have to have like a pre existing condition or see a really shit chiro. Youre more likely to die from an allergy you didnt know you had to a med prescribed by a doctor or getting bloodwork done and getting a fucking air bubble. You cant use a celebrity and some heresay stories about people as your basis for how common this is... a good chiro will want xrays and workups before adjusting you at all to be safe.

PuffTheDargon

Maya... yall need to go to mexico and a really nice all inclusive with a spa. that shits life changing. the level of peace. not worrying about anything for like a week. completely at your own pace if you wanna do anything or not. so good.

Michael Low

Maya lifts weights and QT gets on planes, make the deal

BisonHero

Patreon commenters: y'all have a million and one personal anecdotes about massages and chiropractors, and somehow I have to be the first one to ask "wait, Maya took her horse to a horse chiropractor?" That's crazy. The sheer mechanics of it are mind-boggling. Maya, no shade to your cousin that is a chiropractor, but at its origin chiropractic isn't that different from acupuncture or healing crystals. Over time it has blended a lot of ideas into it from physical therapy, but the practice started from thinking there was a mystical alignment in your spine that governs your general health, and only these arbitrary spinal adjustments will fix your spine and therefore improve your whole body's chakra or whatever. Admittedly, licensed chiropractors these days are 90% just doing physical therapy with a spine focus, and only a small fringe still think the spine is magical.

BisonHero

It's truly impressive how much TikTok is a lightning rod for literally any lie/urban legend/copypasta that farms engagement with how scandalous/unlikely it is.

Sasha

Unsolicited suggestion (sorry) - I do YogaBurn, there’s a core program called Trim Core Challenge which is really good for strengthening your core and back 😊 P.S. Running is fun when you’re drunk

Cassandra C

Hi! Physical therapist here! I would recommend trying physical therapy first! They can give you specific exercises and stretches to your needs. (:

Kellie Ruby

I know someone in her 30s that almost died from a chiropractor. She had a stroke and took a year to recover.

Ivan Gomez

Your new podcast name is room temperature pickles.

Alex Blythe

It’s really embarrassing Ludwig doesn’t know QT loves rice cakes wowie

Zar

I know its late and idk if you guys read them but most "normal" chiropractors are pretty bad. Cracking the neck like that isn't great. If you're serious about seeing one you should try to find an atlas chiropractor. They only adjust the atlas bone which is the base of everything and they don't do the crazy neck cracking (sometimes some back cracking but thats fine). Went from 2-3 Migraines a week to maybe one a month.

Jimmaayyy

Maya please, get an MRI on your lumbar spine and get it looked at by a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. It’s probably a herniated disc! 2 months ago I had a discectomy and 5 decompressions on my entire lumbar spine from an old injury. The longer you leave it the less chance you’ll recover fully. I’m still in a lot of pain but at least I can move around again.

Jose Marin

Wait does maya not know you can request a female masseuse? Most places allow you to. Meetup has been such a good up for me and funny enough here in SLO county! Lot of hikes and things to do with people. Usually the same people show up too so makes it more comfortable

Rachel Vinella

I love the chiropractor. I’m in school, so, my bag be very heavy as it be. I go for the neck, shoulders, and back. She massages everything, stretching, and then does her cool thing. I would recommend it to anyone with pain. It has made my life so much better. They can be dangerous depending on the thing but it is healthy and just go to a certified place/person.

Lezzleee

Pilates is the best thing I ever did for my chronic neck pain. I did it all, massage, chiropractor, acupuncture, muscle relaxers & paint killers etc. Yoga was ok, but not enough strength building. Pilates is basically weight lifting + yoga combined. Makes you strong but moves your body for flexibility far more than weightlifting alone. And it's easy to start easy and ramp up to be harder as you get better.

Lezzleee

Also Chiropractics was made up in the late 1800s buy a guy saying he was told how to do it by ghosts. Fought to be legitimized as "medicine" for pure profit. People can be ignorant and participate in things that started out as pure cons because time has passed and chiropractic practice was normalized. But it can be very dangerous. The schools make money on students, and chiropractors make money giving people placebo temporary relief instead of getting the real problem fixed.
