I fully understand Ludwig getting road rage when people don't respect the zipper. It makes roads so much more efficient. Disrespecting zipper merging and not making way for emergency services are the only things that make me angry when I'm driving. I know it's not rational but I just can't help it.

oh I feel so stupid. one time when I was little my dad had road rage at someone who merged at the end of a lane while at full speed (obviously you should just lane change like normal because just riding the ending lane at full speed is dangerous) but it was such a formative memory for me I confused it with merging at standstill traffic and haven't been respecting the zipper for the last few years since I've been able to drive. oops, well now I know.

56:18 I know what she is talking about. Not the exact situation, I don't know the guy she is talking about, she could be wrong who knows. But I 100% understand how you would see someone petting an animal and decide that they are not a good person. Sometimes you see someone pet an animal and you know they don't care how the animal is feeling. When I pet an animal, the main goal here is for the animal to like it. I would want the animal to enjoy my petting. When you see one of those people pet animals, you know they are not concerned with that at all. I don't know why the hell they are petting but they obviously have other reasons.

I'm from WA and I've only heard "the zipper" or "zipper merge" from people who are not from WA. I don't think it's common knowledge and I'm convinced it's regional

Yeah. Reminds me of this netflix doc about a guy that killed his wife and kids and he was really good at convincing people he was normal because he showed “empathy” towards the family dog. It seems to be a tool to integrate into society and perhaps a chance to be seen as loving. Either way it’s scary.

"respect the zipper" - "how weird" How did y'all get licenses without learning how to merge? 😂 I think it's reasonable that anyone who drives makes an effort to learn the rules of the road, but I'm often surprised by how many people aren't familiar with some of those things. Not hating on y'all, I respect everyone on the pod, but the roads are much safer when everyone is playing by the same rules so people aren't behaving unpredictably ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯
