Matt S

Not to make someone else's pain about me, but I'm also home for christmas because my dog has cancer and I've been binging a lot of wine about it and QT's youtube with him and it's been nice

Aleks

April 6th is Jesus's bday in mormon lore (2014 general conference patch) Earlier christians chose dec. 25 because they had a convention when the birthdate of a religious figure was ambiguous to make the day they were conceived on the same day of the year as they died (march 25th+9 months)

Deanna

I was always under the impression christmas in december was chosen so that people would celebrate that instead of saturnalia. The wise men getting there date is epiphany (12 days later)That's January 6th. At least in catholic lore.

ubiiiiiiiiiiiii

Raised catholic, I'm pretty sure December 25th was chosen because a lot of pagans celebrated the winter solstice, so making a major celebration around that time was an elaborate conversion strategy.

ubiiiiiiiiiiiii

This is so funny, the Council of Nicaea must have been a major title update

ubiiiiiiiiiiiii

i could be mistaken but this is what i was always told...

hollieb0o

another W episode for the W community

Joey

Merry Christmas everyone! Sending love to Maya and her dog and Ludwig for being a chill guy

Imrano

The first historical evidence of Christmas being in December was in 354 AD. Over 300 years after Jesus was born. The Roman emperor at the time decided Christmas would align with the majority Pagan population celebrating the winter solstice in December.

Paula Mejia

I love whenever theyre like, this is too sad/too dark for the pod - why do you think I'm here? One of my fave episodes was when QT talked about her SA cause it was so impactful

Heather James

As a mom we did Elf on a Shelf for a few years! My son named his Elfie! lol it was fun hiding him in all different spots and using different items to get creative with! He is 13 now and I still threaten him with if you’re not good Santa ain’t coming lol he knows Santa isn’t real. lol also side note took the autism test and I got a 59! Great episode as always girlies!!🤗🫶🏻

DeftCG

51:10 perhaps "both" here was referring to both the husband a d co-worker, both should have known better than to leave together and should self reflect as to why they did something so obviously bad optics, even in the best case scenario where he wasn't cheating

Sunshine

Having a really difficult Christmas and I cannot tell you the joy I felt seeing this notification come up. Thank you for all you two do <3

spacecampsucks

I like the old background. You guys still kind of match. Cream wall and purple chair for QT and purple background and cream chair for Maya

Sascha Scholz

I think the Reddit-Thing is pretty complicated 😅 Things like this happend to me sometimes, he could have cheated, but it could be that he has not cheated. It is pretty clear, that they both have to work on their selves. She didn't want to go to his Company Christmasparty, but tried to control his behavior by guilttriping him. He on the other side said that he would be home around midnight, so he has to be home at this time

Mitch Mitcherson

those are some traumatic Christmas recollections, Maya.

Maul-E

Having the worst Christmas this year-I lost my Mom a few months ago and it’s been a rough holiday season. Thank you for being real and honest and helping me get through it

Arrowni

Dream Ludwig even has goons, he really went mafioso on Dream QT :(

Rocky

I would love to see QT come to Florida’s Disney Epcot and stream a drink around the world challenge!

neonmellow

I was always under the impression that the date of Christmas was chosen to coincide with Pagan holidays

Experimental Cyborg

Gifts don't need to be things. If someone already has all the things, you can still gift an experience. Go make your someone feel something 😄

Brooklyn Gordon

this is the real truth. No one knows when Jesus was actually born as the calendar as we know it today wasn't a thing.

Darren Hertenstein

Sounds like the perfect gift for Lud is just to bake him cookies.. 😆 Christmas was chosen to be thrown in December because the Christians wanted to co-opt Winter Solstice from the Pagans.

Funky Raven

Didn't the idea for Saint Nicholas come from the same Paigan holiday? I'm sure I read that Odin or one of the other gods gave presents to kids like Saint Nicholas later ended up doing.

Glitch

This Patreon ep went too fast

Bethany Estrada

dude that whole converstaioni with qt's dad was so funny

Chibimonkie

damn Maya really is on Ludwig's side 99% of the time lmfaooo the gift giving convo is sooooo funny haha

BisonHero

The talk of Jesus' upbringing/family got me curious. Today I learned that the different Christian sects disagree on whether Jesus' "brothers" had his same parents, or were Joseph's kids from an earlier marriage, or were merely his cousins. The call to QT's dad was cute. I'm sure he liked being included. More like Theology About It.

Sunrayz

Christmas is in December to compete with winter solstice

Torayume

The purple backdrop way nicer. Best wishes!

Abbie

apostles are like twitch mods maya

soloPFL

Mary was a “Virgin” well sounds like in vitro fertilization. Also December was chosen to replace and repress festivities and holidays from a previously popular religion. Maya: who’s Santa. KEK let’s call Coca Cola Co. Also st Nicholas is not Santa Claus. …..Dad rambling is fun.

Magical Anthony

idk if it was intentional but i like that maya's backdrop matches qt's chair and qt's wall matches maya's chair

Jose Marin

Christmas was chosen in December because they saw other holidays and traditions being celebrated around that time and the church wanted to have more power so how to gain more? You get the people to enjoy YOUR festivities and slowly make others traditions into your own while shaming theirs

COAL GOLEM

Most of what we think of as "Christmas Traditions" (Gift giving, Trees, feast, ect.) is an amalgamation of Pagan traditions- This was combined with the story of Jesus's birth to make it easier to convert the Pagans

Jackson Gray

I didn’t know the Jews hated Republicans

Daidreemer

Jesus was born in spring. Dec 25th was chosen by the church because there was a pagan celebration of a god at that time and aligning it to that would help convert the pagans to christianity.
