Business idea!!! Probably bad idea but you could possibly do like deco deco kits like a little kit or bag or box of the stuff you want to decorate and you guys can sell those on deco website

BakedZD

Don’t remember where but she did talk about doing this! Also here. She talks about it here

Sogybritches

Not familiar with dua Lipas political views but she does interview some authors on YouTube and they are legitimately amazing interviews, she's really good at it, so not only a pop star. Think the channel is service95, some weird brand thing but great interviews

Joe Conway

I think she's a fan of Bernie Sanders

77katz77

On Chappell: I think it probably has to due wit her being (relatively) new and sudden rise of popularity, etc. COMBINED with her wanting to challenge what has previously been expected from pop stars or celebrities. That said, Maya's right in that a lot of people do look to her for guidance or as a resource for what to do politically and she should start being more aware of that.

Steven Precourt

I would think the next place L. A. streamers would move to is Las Vegas. There's parts of Vegas now that are basically a suburb of L.A. You can get from Vegas to L.A. by plane in two hours including the driving time.

Natalie Clark

about chappell roan, idk if that interview clip was cut short or what, but she's not saying she's not politically aware. she's just saying it's hard to be so focused on everything at once. at worst she's wording it poorly, but everyone is taking it in SUCH bad faith like QT said and it's kinda confusing me. she's just saying not to take her word as gospel, she's done all sorts of activism and she's become such a needed safe space for the LGBT community but like she was never the kind of activist that people expect her to be. she's being gay and famous at the same time which naturally comes with politics because being gay is political in this era, but she is not a politician! on a very micro-level i can relate as a lesbian, i'm sort of the go-to person among my family and friends on LGBT issues and even though i take part in activism in my own community, i don't always know everything and i don't want them to take my word as gospel when i'm just one lesbian in such a beautiful and diverse community, i can't IMAGINE what she must be feeling and dealing with as a famous lesbian. like give the woman some grace.

Seth Parmer

"I don't fuck with SpongeBob but I know the people do" is such a funny sentence.

Attabui

As someone who's native to socal, I am SOOO tired of influencers and streamers trashing LA. LA is a beautiful city with so much history and culture and things to do. And the people here are incredible, the community is so strong, especially after the fires. It's like what Kendrick says, you say you hate LA but you don't travel past the 10

Carto

Lmaoo at first the charm expense jump sent me but after hearing the kinds bought (pokemon etc) that makes sense to me !! Very cool to see I am excited to see it hit the green 😎😎

Anja Miller

Yeah i think she’s just kinda venting about HER specific situation. It’s ok to complain, people get sp fucking angry when a celeb complains. We’re all just people and everyone has their struggles

PacFu

what a powerful episode. great job, ladies

LeahGia

I do get that sentiment if it’s a place you happen to love but I also think every place just isn’t for everyone and that’s fine too. a lot of streamers aren’t from LA and therefore being away from family/other friends means they get homesick too or they just wish they could live somewhere more lowkey or different. they can’t justify leaving due to their careers and/or a partner/friends so the trapped feeling understandably makes them resent the downsides more than someone native to LA or who was drawn to the city.

MentallyGrowing247

Facebook market place those chairs and you will 100% get something. Also I would use Facebook Market place to find new chairs and the cost could ve less and you could spray paint them? Might be fun if they are all different stuled chairs.

starlitstellaa

was literally going to say the same thing, i think ppl mistake being queer and being vocal about your identity/advocating for your community as being political/an advocate for everything. the way i interpreted the clip was about the way chappel was asked to endorse someone in the presidential race, bc really why are you asking a pop star who to vote for?? and i think esp in the comparison to what maya does, maya chose to specifically build her whole public image around conservation vs. chappel who pays homage to queer legends and drag queens and acknowledges her identity in her art and is asked instead to give her opinions on every political issue like that's not what she chose to do. to me it's almost the same if someone asked maya to give her opinion on taxes or tariffs like girl how would she know?

ineedsleep

The Chappell roan thing is mainly liberals lashing out at anyone who said anyone critical of the Dems before their loss. They don't care that what she said was valid then. They want "accountability" and her to talk now more about the trump administration but really it's pointless vengeance for thought crimes. She might be clumsy with her words but still, its all displaced anger. Mostly staunch Dems who spend too much time online. Having an ineffectual party will have you demanding celebrities to perform politics for you lol.

ChubbyHobo

like smol biz. interesting. gud ep.

Jared

dont freak out... but bugaboo pocket dropped today

Kevin

I agree. It bothers me when people say that everyone is a clout chaser or that everyone is fake in LA. Growing up here I’ve explored so much of this city and met so many amazing people. I don’t know who these influencers are running into so often that that is the impression they get. LA isn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it’s home and seeing it endlessly slandered by virtually everyone gets tiresome. For the record I’m not saying that’s QT or Maya. I love their content, obviously this is the Patreon.

Someone Else

many streamers moved there after the pandemic, but some went back to LA because it was hard to irl collab/be with friends or they retired after

Someone Else

she has everything ready product wise but they're trying to figure out international shipping

LeahGia

the second half especially of this episode and just listening to both of your perspectives and tangents was really interesting. loved the business/Deco Deco stuff too.

Avery Schrader

chapell is just dumb which is fine she makes good music but politically her actions helped trump more than they helped kamala by encouraging voter apathy and lying about the democrat's stances on trans people (i am trans and very politically enganged). she should just stay in her lane instead of performatively care while taking detrimental actions.

Nathanael guevara

As someone who used to live North of Austin, I love that city. The suburbs are just as nice as well, Cedar Park and Round Rock are home for me. Go to the Oasis if you get the chance it’s beautiful there

Lilith

Aren't you supposed to vote where you live most of the time, regardless of your mailing/property address? Like taxes

jaspersjourney

some people forgive others, some dont. some people have hard lines, some dont. no need for name calling. just ask why they did/didnt and try to understand it.

BS

You realize the right won partly due to celebrities right? The right wing podcast sphere changed voting patterns of the youth by an amount almost never seen.

Screen Larpers

no, it's not anywhere near that simple

Screen Larpers

you realize right wing podcasts are strictly political podcasts... where people give their political opinions... Chappell is a singer.

RazzGenome

I hope that more people will realize we're just all humans trying to figure everything out. It was refreshing, in a way, to hear your thoughts about the nuances that the internet seems to omit. We all need to just go outside sometimes lol

Piggy Tarantino

Orange County is the way to go imo. Then just travel to LA

Erika

i don't like hearing who celebrities support just to have something for myself to feel happy about outside of my life but i understand why people *want* to know who they do to decide whether to continue supporting them or not & it's def important for that info to be out there for sure. i fully agreed with it being okay that someone hasn't taken the time out of their day to educate themselves or doesn't have an opinion on something just to stay ignorant to that cause honestly not many people want to know about the bad shit going on in the world (even if it's important sometimes lol...) since we're all super overwhelmed with just breathing :/ missed these deep talks tho, loved the whole thing :)

Katariina

Great episode honestly

Tyler Nichols

It’s so validating. There was a hate thread about Big A. And I dared to talk about the nuance and change. My most down voted comment on reddit.

BS

I don't think people want to know what a pop singer thinks about politics to then think the same way as them. They want to see if the person they are supporting with their time and money is an awful human being. I mean if kids like The Linda Linda's can find the time or hell someone like BBNO$ can I don't see it as being too much to ask.

BS

Just because someone has changed doesn't mean you have to forgive them.

bossm60

Y'all only hear about the chappell interviews that have drama. She's done quite a few since late 2024 that are nice. Also a full Chappell discussion without mention of her new song is borderline criminal

MICHY!!!!!

I don't think chappell roan created more voter apathy than there already was, that seems nuts to me

Cara

O o kOo

Cara

I no O. Oh e tk Zygotesmo U Is looking

Cara

karina

this was such a good episode the conversation was really engaging and i enjoyed like every minute of it

Sara Tabitha M.

I interpreted Chappell's interview as her saying: "just because I'm queer, and I do write songs and speak about my existence as a queer woman- and being gay has been politicized so much, doesn't mean that i want to talk about politics all the time". Tegan & Sara have also talked about feeling pressured to be "perfect gay rolemodels" but they just want to be seen as messy & human

Aamir Hooda

QT doesn’t like spongebob?? ☹️

Aamir Hooda

Deco deco should have an easter event

Amanda Wight

Honestly I feel like LA people really sleep on the Bay Area, it is just as expensive but it’s soooo nice here.

RA

What a bold take

Rizzy_REDD

No matter what job you have you’re allowed to complain. Doctors complain about their patients, pop stars complain about their stalkers, firefighters complain about the dumbass that left their candle burning next to their sofa after leaving the house

Raths

Actually really insightful.

Jordyn S

I think because of how the election coincided with her reaching mainstream, then her getting into it with her comments on refusing a Biden related performance, the whole not endorsing a candidate because they’re both bad people, then backtracking after the backlash, it’s hard for people to not see her as political. Like people were ready to put Femininominon right in the mix with “Kamala is Brat” but had to backtrack because she was so openly against the (then current) administration. Some people literally learned who she is through those headlines (I at the very least learned her TikTok handle that way). She’s mostly stuck to her own (as you said, politicized) groups but anytime she gets political will confirm that bias. So like Maya was saying, hearing her say “I’m just a pop star” or even if she had said “…just because I talk about my existence….” A lot of people would still be confused because what happened to “Fuck Trump, for fucking real, but fuck some of the shit that has gone down in the Democratic Party that has failed people like me and you.”

David

I could be wrong but it seems like you are doing cash accounting. At the start of a business, obsessively staring at your cash balance is probably the more relevant way to manage the business. Eventually you’ll need to think in terms of accrual accounting - in other words, some of these cash outflows went towards inventory, which is an asset until it’s sold (at which point it is expensed). Like Maya said, the more inventory you buy in one month means you’ll probably have to buy less the next month (unless you’ve moved through your inventory, which would be a good thing if sold at full price). That cash fluctuation in inventory purchases shouldn’t distort your true profitability (how much did you sell - how much did those sales cost + how much labor and rent did you spend plus other things consumed in the month). You should also probably allocate some portion of your charms to marketing expense vs COGS since you are talking about taking a loss there bc it’s could generate word of mouth. So on and so forth. Thanks for sharing!

Dua Lipa has been political. She does a lot of solidarity posting. She was UK left and Bernie bro.
