LMFAO at douglasdouglas choosing a bacon drink he's never tried

DeftCG

Douglas, unsolicted medical advice: Ask your doctor about prazosin, it's a very safe medication that is used in high doses for intense PTSD and low doses for hyper-vigilence/nightmares. It really helped some aspects of my sleeping issues, it's cheap, and it's well studied in terms of safety.

Todd Sutherland

AI is cool for some purposes, but needs HEAVY regulation. We can’t continue on how we are right now. Literacy rates are dropping and the parasocialality of it is fucked up

DeftCG

Most of the men in our family have stretch marks on their lower back from fast height growth and then I have some on my shoulders as well from broadening out.

linda

as one of the few female dougdoug viewers this is the best crossover

linzifer13

Maya’s a real one for telling QT about her falling eyelash

Winn

I think the problem with AI is 90% of it's usage isn't actually good/useful/healthy. There are SO many downsides that it's hard to see the upsides.

bossm60

As one of the many male dougdoug viewers this is still the best crossover

stel

i just want to clarify that autistic people can and do have empathy LOL i imagine the person doug went to was pretty old school if they hold that belief

Alphonse Shehata

You know what guy I hate Doug Doug I don't know who that guy is!! Is he a comedian? No because he'd be funny!!!

Couran

I think the AI needs to do better drawing the line between generative AI or LLMs and ‘AI’ the actual artificial intelligence. The latter has some really incredible possibilities, but it’s also been a part of various tech for years now. LLMs are a dumpster fire or ethical and environmental problems that had some potential as job aids now have no real possibility of redemption because the worst kind of tech bros have got behind it as the new get rich quick scheme a la NFTs, trying to pump out slop for easy money.

Laurel

Man Doug describing his anxiety is the best description of how my anxiety is. I’ve never known how to properly describe it, I feel so much better hearing someone else describe that same experience

Kady

had to turn off the podcast cos of the AI glazing sorry love y'all

BisonHero

Maya's unbridled revulsion every time DougDoug has another sip of the cursed bacon soda has me absolutely DYING.

BisonHero

If it helps, later on he admits that AI will not be able to make childbirth less horrific for women.

Ruben

You're talking about loving, but you're actually hating

LanitaDelBBL

As a biochem major working in a lab utilizing machine learning I loved hearing Dougs take on AI. i really think it’s important to have those conversations tbh so i dont understand all this hate in the comments

Becca

As a bio undergrad major and now student in PA school, the positives of AI are not outweighing the negatives. It’s a little ignorant of doug to ignore the horrible consequences AI has on people and ESPECIALLY on the environment. For example, he talks about the medical benefits of AI, but I have learned about how harmful AI can be for patients because it lacks the depth, nuance, and empathy of a human being, and tends to neglect social determinants of health. And the impacts of AI on our climate has many deleterious effects on health, such as the increased prevalence of diseases from global warming. I can recognize that there have been some positives that have come from AI, but at what cost? It’s a tough time to be in science, that’s for sure lol

LanitaDelBBL

I don’t think he means for AI to replace PAs or similar when he’s speaking about the medical benefits. He’s talking more about the research side, since AI can classify and sort proteins extremely quickly in ways we can’t. I also agree with you on the environmental factors which have to be addressed but i also think doug didn’t present AI as some infallible good. He acknowledged the some of the faults and says that he’s optimistic about what it CAN do.

Todd Sutherland

Acid trips usually are about 12 hours depending on dose

Steven Precourt

The urethra is a membrane. I'm assuming the alcohol would enter your bloodstream.

Mi

ai medical progress could be nice if you didn’t need to go full on breaking bad to afford it lol

sana

i love mayas shirt, does anyone know where its from? :)

Redcoat

Even in it's current state, the benefits of AI have not yet been realized. If you're in a job, then you should start trying to see what ways you can incorporate AI into making yourself more efficient. Even as a replacement to googling things, it is very effective. You can be so much more verbose in what you are trying to find out vs with google where it can sometimes be hard to find what you are looking for. Hell, even ask chatGPT: "What are the best ways that I can utilize AI in my job as a [insert job title]" Long term, AI is going to be greatly beneficial to progress and knowledge. Think of pre internet vs post internet. The amount of changes that internet bought to society were insane. I think the amount of changes AI brings to society, even in its current form, are also insane. Short term, I think there could be a lot of trouble. I already see it happening. Companies expect more because of AI, people become more efficient because of AI, teams become smaller, it becomes more competitive to get those jobs. AI could potentially completely replace some jobs, or at least pretty much replace them. With the amount of efficiency increases that could arise from AI, it could be scary for the short term future where we can't easily adjust for that. I fear most the wealth and benefits that arise from AI in the short term will just go to the top.

i'm still working to unlearn the gutpunch "AI bad" reaction every time i hear it mentioned. my partner and a lot of my friends are artists and creatives, so over the past couple years my brain has definitely given the notion of AI a bad association. but its applications go so far beyond entertainment algorithms trained on data used without the creators' permission. i understand the need to call attention to that, but at the same time i wish it wasn't overshadowing the fact that AI technology has the potential for so much more

wolf

it's insane that your brain can stress itself so much it can essentially give itself trauma
