I hate this mom so much, this documentary should have been about the mother. The doc went a long with the gaslighting the mother continues to do instead of shining the light on what she did and CONTINUES to do to her daughter.

I think if you’re really stressed/worried about your safety y’all shouldn’t go to twitch con. It’s best to stay home and relax as much as you can instead of going and being on edge even if you’d be safe with security.

The doc is sickening but it really proves that small town America is not all it’s cracked up to be lol. How can you be so vile to a girl who was as much a victim as anyone else in the situation? Like them saying “oh we knew it was Kendra from the beginning” man sybau lol, you just want an excuse to pick on a girl that your daughter didn’t like, you’re the same breed as Kendra.

Am I stupid if every time QT says "I watched a documentary," I think "Oooh, what new perspective on the human condition has QT absorbed this week?" only to find out that it's usually another true crime documentary? I get that it works for WAI because true crime is like a Reddit AITA where the answer is always a resounding "yes, you're the asshole, go to prison", but in my heart of hearts I'm always hoping QT will give us a hot doc recommendation where the subject isn't primarily murder/abuse.

Twitchcon is a world away from an open air talk by a super divisive political hack. Gently, you are being irrational when comparing the two. Still totally okay and normal to feel scared, but remember it's not the same.

Also, just be aware that you are teaching yourself to be scared and to listen to that irrational voice. When Rae says imagine just being there and being anxious the whole time, and makes the decision based off that, it just teaches her brain to accept those fears as inevitable. If you want to slowly lose the ability to fight anxiety with truth, this is how you do it.

They literally talked about a streamer getting offed live. Tensions are definitely high, so when does the voice start and stop being irrational? Like genuinely who according to you decides that point besides the people facing this choice? You, the not public figure? Gently, you're talking about something you have no valid input in.

To answer your question @nesyk, Yes, a streamer getting offed live somewhere in the world is not apples to apples with a convention with security and bag check and mostly interior spaces. "When does the voice start and stop being irrational... who decides that point?" Anyone is capable of breaking down the rationality of a particular comparison. I said this comparison was irrational, because we know sufficient details about both situations being compared to factually assert the security risks of one are different than the other by statistically and qualitative significant margins. That said, your comment didn't actually dispute that the situations were significantly different, which is the core of the question of irrationality in the comparison. If you would like to draw the connections to say that the security risks are similar, you are welcome to. The idea that only the people considering the choice can say if a comparison is rational or irrational is a bit absurd, I don't really think it's necessary to explain why.

I'll add, since conversation around this has developed since this video, that none of this negates the other real risks of attending twitchcon. Outside of a sniper on a rooftop scenario, there are still plenty of real risks, and people do get harassed every year.
