I majored in neuroscience, TMS has pretty good results with treatment-resistant mental health conditions. They target specific areas of the brain and apply non-invasive electrical pulses to increase brain activity/stimulation (neurons). It has way more control than meds that have side effects for different parts of the body. It’s very safe :)

I tried TMS but as a subject for a non-medical experiment, and it was very cool and chill. I also have OCD and really appreciated QT describing her similar experiences with it

Another great episode that went by so quickly! Thanks for sharing, QT. Sometimes it can feel like there isn't really a way out of mental health issues other than the vague idea of therapy maybe sometime and it's cool to hear from someone actually doing it, some time in it with different techniques and specialists and developments and making all that more real. Have an awesome week, good luck with the curtains, see you on Fear&!

Kirsten Tracey

i love the talks about QTs OCD, i have so much love for her openness and honesty about such big things! thank you QT for talking about this 💜

From a doctor that saw it used in clinic during med school : Definitely recommend TMS, esp for depression/OCD that doesn't respond well with meds. It's not a cure all, but this in conjunction with therapy, seemed to help a lot of patients. One thing I did see tho, usually after the first several treatments, esp for ppl for PTSD, would get flashbacks/nightmares and that could worsen OCD symptoms initially. But the improvement after for many seemed definitely worth it.

Welcome back, lovely set of episodes this week, really interesting conversations!

I know you said you don’t like to talk about your mental health at the end. I however found out I have ocd (diagnosed) through you. You are told ocd is like the cleaning type thing but I have always struggled with intrusive thoughts and such. You have truly helped me find help as well as know that I’m not crazy as much as I tell myself I am! Thank you so much and I hope you do read this and know that just because you just livestream doesn’t mean you aren’t really changing and effecting peoples lives :)

LeahGia

this was so much more of an interesting conversation than super bowl ads tbh

Emmy

i love hearing the mental health stuff because i deal with it too we need more episode like that

I do that thing where I always have to check the door to make sure it’s locked before I go to bed. Sometimes I don’t I think but if I ever have even a brief thought of the door not being locked, I have to check. And even after I check… sometimes I don’t believe my eyes for some reason and have to go check again (but this time I have to touch it to make sure). Just in case. I’ve never been diagnosed with anything (never sought it out), so I just assume I’m just a paranoid person.

Hey QT, I did a round of TMS treatment last year. Let me explain. Basically, they put a magnet next to your brain and it does brief magnetic bursts at a pulse. For most people, it takes about 5 minutes to finish and then you're done for the day. I didn't experience substantial benefits, but my current mood issues are mostly around chronic pain. Our hope has been that we can either: 1. Improve my mental health, reducing IBS symptoms and pain or 2. Improve my mental health, making me better at coping with IBS symptoms and pain No success so far, but your issues are extremely different than mine. I suspect you could see a real benefit! It is an uncomfortable procedure to sit through, but I saw no long-term affects other than a slight increase in tinnitus, but I already had tinnitus so it did not cause it for me.

I've recently been battling with my anxiety and OCD triggered by stress (due to a number of factors) and my therapist said something really great - they said "you aren't regressing, you are recalibrating". This was SO helpful because I felt like my old habits coming back was a bad thing and started subconsciously punishing myself. It's a journey/conscious effort every day to get better, so whenever shit happens, you just need to recalibrate. You're not failing. I hope you feel the same way QT and patreon friends.

Lilith

QT will magnetize her brain before taking a micro dose of mushrooms that grow out of the earth lol ❤️ wishing her the best as she starts therapy again

Ryan Andaluz

Man, I really wanted to hear about super bowl stuff instead

Krystal

WHAT BTS stuff OMG? :)

Fox

I don't have ocd but do have autism and it's always both informative to hear qt talk about her mental health and comforting to remember I'm not alone in being exhausted by my own brain 24/7

Fern

Don’t worry guys, whenever you say you’re gonna talk about something in the main episode and then forget, then forget again during the paywall ep it doesn’t surprise us, we’re used to it 😂 We’re here for the chatting anyways so it’s no harm done 🤠🫶

Fern

Also QT don’t let the online chuds have you stop talking mental health, as someone who never talks about mental health stuff I related to some of the stuff you described and makes me feel less crazy bc I thought only I felt these types of ways

Isabella

Being convinced you hit a body is so relatable. I had this thought a few months ago on the way to take a certification exam and I spent the whole time anticipating someone was going to come in and arrest me. the human mind is whack

Hello! Just adding my TMS experience as I have been through 3 of the primary treatments with "maintenance" treatments weekly for the last 2 years or so. I think it has been the only thing I have ever had (and I've tried countless medications+cumulative YEARS in therapy) that I can attribute a meaningful gain in mental clarity/negating some intrusive thoughts. I feel even if it helps me like 1-5% more than nothing, there is no harm in continuing (especially being free with my insurance luckily!) And, I have read studies that it also increases working memory for a short period of time after the treatment so I would like to say it has made my memory better also, but even if placebo -- it works for me :)

Jelo

My friends have done TMS, all have had OCD and its been really helpful for them

Vic

My mom did great on TMS therapy. It was a big big change for her. I only wish they offered longer treatments because she regressed a bit :(

Reddd Hunter

The whole kyedae tenz situation is so sad. I feel so bad for them. I don't think people genuinely realize how different you are when you are 17 versus when you're 24 25 years old. They moved in when they were kids and now they are young adults. People change drastically. Me at 18 versus 25 versus 35 (damn) are all totally different people.

Danilee

This convo was much better than Super Bowl ads 💜

DOPAMINE27

I knew I had GAD but got recently diagnosed with OCD which explains why I always relate so much with QT

DOPAMINE27

QT do you have ROCD?

BisonHero

QT believes in a 2-snack solution. Don't tell Hasan. Or do? I lost track of the metaphor.

Jim Zhan

riveting snack drama

SummerPeach

Every time qt talks about how her OCD manifests I feel validated as fuck. I don't have the "everything needs to be organized", I have the more chaotic compulsions and anxieties and visualizations. A lot of it flares up around like bugs or poop lol like I can't change my nieces diaper and I work at a shelter so if there is a bug I go into a whole suit up new shoes don't take my bag inside strip down into a designated laundry basket that I seal in a bag or duct tape closed too like a whole damn near hazmat situation. I get the continuation side of it though too, I can't touch raw meat or be in the kitchen when my partner is cooking it or I get stressed out and overbearing, I feel like if I touch something it's like I have paint on my hands and it spreads and I can feel it on surfaces I touch too and I have to watch my hands twice cus the first time gets the "stuff" off and the second time actually washes it ? Idk lol sorry for the rant but tbh bc old wine about it eps where qt talked about OCD I realized I have it and started going to therapy for it too.

koizumeinc

I love whenever qt talks about her mental health as someone who struggles with it a lot and can’t afford therapy and getting diagnosed. It just feels super validating and reminds me that I’m not alone in struggling with these things and there are others who relate and understand. Especially hearing how she was able to grow and make improvements, super inspiring. Whoever ends up reading this please remember your not alone! <3

When I babysit the understanding is they get what they want lol , within reason. Parents can do their rules when they have them lol
