Megumi Watanabe

Ngl as a Christian, I also am curious about the public megaphone stuff too.

Lloyd

QT was very nice in that email, definitely not too mean

Tony

So to clear up how medical specialties are chosen from a physician. Med students choose which specialties they apply to. Most will apply and go to their desired specialty (internal medicine, OB/GYN, General surgery etc), but some specialties are more competitive and require certain rotation scores, letters of recommendation, and board scores to successfully match to. People may not be able to apply to certain specialties based on their resume and have to apply to maybe their second favorite specialty. OB/GYN is a mid tier competitive specialty, but requires some higher scoring and preparation to apply, so those that do match to that specialty have likely planned for it over at least 1+ years. Also, I know Rae can have her own personal opinion, but there is this underlying sexism in medicine based on this exact mindset, that certain genders shouldn't be in that specialty by their patients (and even peers in medicine). Many women have been left out of surgical specialties (look at the disparity in orthopedic surgery for example between male and female surgeons) because it's often viewed as a boys club, similar to males with OB/GYN. All jobs will have creeps, I wish that could change, but those are exceptions to the norm. OB/GYN is such a fascinating field that can combine a surgical and outpatient medical practice, and offers so much differing pathology and flexibility in lifestyle that makes it a very intriguing career FOR ALL PEOPLE regardless of gender. But every patient can and should choose what doctor they want, but she came off a bit strong and vilifying to many male OB/GYNs early on, so just wanted to say there are many many good male OB/GYNs that aren't creeps I promise haha

What QT tweeted wasn't bad. Anyone offended by it is in defense of the hate being spewed at people in the street? They don't say nice things. That's the point. Why is Rae so dead set?

lily 🕵🏻‍♀️

It's the same type of people who sit outside planned parenthood trying to stop everyone going inside by telling them they're going to hell. It doesn't matter if someone takes that as a "sign" it's still a bad thing?

Alexander Ott

The Jemily stuff sounds like a campaign. Like someone going to a job interview like: "...and then I let the bridezilla respond and engagement increased by 326%, thus I'm perfectly suited to lead your Viral marketing department..." but idk

joeypantsfan

I don’t think the tweet response is any deeper than people looking for an excuse to hate on qt (or a woman generally)

Joon Kim

As an agnostic those people screaming on the side walks never persuaded me to following anything they do.

Kay

Im currently in med school and doctors do get to choose their specialities. Also even though I personally prefer women providers, it's super important to have all kinds of people be doctors. Some people are more comfortable with male providers due to past trauma or personal preference. Also many are great advocates for furthering research and closing disparities!

SF

Do better QT! Check speling and grammer

LeahGia

I've always said that I can’t imagine the people with literal megaphones (who as QT said seem to almost always be using them to verbally berate people) do more to turn people towards christianity than having an opposite effect. it breaks my brain because it feels like the approach is all passion and zero regard for the actual desired outcome or even how God would actually want you to treat others.

Doctor Paco

There’s nothing wrong with creaky voice (aka vocal fry)! For example, in Finland, it is the norm. There’s a great YouTube video from linguist Dr. Geoff Lindsey titled “Vocal Fry: what is it, who does it, and why people hate it!”

Carto

To be clear Twitter is now intentionally designed to show inflammatory stuff to people it will make mad, so you didn't make any normal people angry just the twitter maniacs

CorporateAF

People yelling on the streets are doing it for themselves. Possibly driven by their own guilt and they think yelling to others will give them brownie points come judgement day.l

Imrano

QT would be a good voice actor for Cruella Deville 😎

Emily Finn

From one health anxious girly to another. My ferritin has been at 6 since 2018 and it’s never caused any other serious issues. Along the hand conversation, I do have raynaud's so maybe that’s correlated

Amber Pepper

I went to a male OBGYN at like 36 weeks pregnant because I hadn't met the OB that was supposed to deliver my baby. He was honestly amazing. I had a pap smear during a follow up, and I basically didn't feel it! My dumbass awkwardly said "omg, that was the best I've ever had." It's been 6 years and my soul still leaves my body when I remember I said that.

ed wine supernova

*in coolvetica or cute frog* something's coming, iykyk #jemily #thejemilywedding

Sergio Aragonez

Thank god this is on Patreon Rae’s view on man gynecologist is TERRIBLE, also you 100% choose your path on medicine

Byconite

Y'all should reach out to Alanah Pearce and have her on the pod to talk about voice acting!

scott

lmfao yeah then saying “it’s not all men…but it’s most men”

Sasha

yes and some languages of south east asia also use creaky voice as a primary tone, it doesnt damage your voice or they'd all go mute

Azathoth#0004

Love you guy, but Rae take on gynecologist is kinda trash. Also your reason was based on one story you saw on the internet is insane

Attabui

for the Jemily stuff, I think it's very telling that Emily hates Abigail who the fiance kissed in HS and that Emily made OP a bridesmaid, even though OP and her were only middle school friends. Sounds like it's a really small town and Emily hasn't outgrown school and think her wedding is the most important thing in the world. Because to her, it is lol

jay gaboriault

hey are gaming and confessions uploaded weekly? considering upgrading

KO1NZELL

I didn't do a bite test when I got a filling and I spent the next day in extreme pain because the tooth did not have the correct levels

Sam Zot

QT when I have my gay ass wedding you should be my brides…. Grooms? maid. I have no one to ask as of now 🤷🏼‍♂️

Trent Murray

Christians also think the megaphone guys are weird losers, odds are most people replying to you weren't really believers. It's twitter

Slawncha

Yeah I also think its more of an American thing. In Ireland no one's screaming "youre going to hell" the most you'll see is a dude handing out flyers at a table they set up

Danilee

I’m usually living under a rock, but even I saw the Jemily thing. Good riddance. I’d love to see the update when Jacob eventually decides to leave this threatening wacky bridezilla.

Brooklyn Gordon

lmao QT you fucked up, you just directly attacked the evangelist christians AKA the most PERSECUTED minority in the US /s. My family is like them and they are literally the most annoying people on earth with the hugest victim complex despite being overly represented in politics and in the US in general. And I DO consider myself religious to some extent, these people though, are so fucking extra

Anomalous_Daniel

Twitter is so full of Nazis and other bitterly hateful people, I don’t get why anyone cares about what people say on there. I honestly believe QT and every other normal content creator would be infinitely better off sandboxing that toxic cesspool out of their lives. I get they need to use it, but having it readily available on their phones and directly interacting on it just seem incredibly harmful

traazasaurus

Same people that are offended by the tweet will tell gay people they’re going to be tortured in hell for eternity lol

Rodgy O'dodgy

Should make the original dental office repay you for the repair at other dental office.

Torayume

I remember when Fear& was on the Yard set, and I think he did not include her at the time, it was a big topic that episode - how much Austin wanted to be in the guys' groomsmen. This episode is my favorite vibe, love the banter "do you think I have colon cancer?" "I'm ready to die when it comes~" lol

inflatablepenguin

The problem with the religion tweet...is that you're still using Twitter. You can't use Twitter replies as a metric to anything. It's 95% bots 4% incels and 1% streamers.

Njoy

Adres botez vocal fry

zaina

you’re not assigned a specific medical profession, you apply to residencies for the profession(s) you’re interested in (cardiology or dermatology or radiology) and are either accepted or rejected. so male gynecologists apply for that specific residency position 😅

Isaac Ziegler

As a Christian, I think you should evangelize but NOT via fire and brimestone, like who wants to listen to someone insulting you

Isaac Ziegler

FR! God said the greaetest commandments is love God and love others, and that is not loving others

Isaac Ziegler

Well those people might not be Christians, they're prob "christians" who don't actually read the Bible. Evangelicals SHOULD be loving and kind and humble, not prideful and hateful. It's sad that so many people misrepresent Christianity which is founded in love.

Guif

Rae and QT I really love both of you but you guys have a big following on the internet, you really need to stop talking so much random stuff without any type of knowledge on medicine or health-related things. This is literally a dangerous thing to do. It feels like every time there is some type of misinformation or fake news being said by one of you two without any care or thought (I'm sure not on purpose)... Science and actual doctors have to spend a lot to bring information and awareness to people (like the medicine-related commenters under this post!) whereas both of you already have a gigantic reach that can actually negatively impact the health of a more naive follower of yours. Speaking as someone that genuinely like both of you and the patreon! S2 Also, twitter really is negatively impacting the life of both of you, that place is hell, not real life hahahah

Brooklyn Gordon

Well I agree but to be real most evangelists are the megaphone lady lol. They unfortunately are overrepresented in the Christian movement due to how they've been able to pretty much dominate the political system. Even Christians who aren't evangelists fall in line with these people just because they said they're Christian. It's so sad

Lilith

Bean soup is a great way to get iron without meat. Get some beans (16 bean soup mix), add onions, tomatoes, celery, etc. , and then a ton of spinach at the end. So much iron

Jam

They’re not trying to convert you, they’re telling you off. Taking out their anger at godless liberals

Jamie Hauken

I think the tweet was super fine. Even if it was a joke, which I read it as, it was just commenting on these specific people, which I didn't even think were associated with any institution or specific church. It might even be viewed as coming from a Christian person because you questioned if this tactic led to coming to Jesus. If you had commented on the fear mongering and the insulting tactics instead, I could see people getting offended, even though I would still strongly disagree with getting defensive over that. It getting this much hate that is this direct in an hour is genuinely surprising to me. It's also interesting that QT seems to have learned the Mormon approach to missionary work of always smiling and inviting people to your family home and promising family values and a complete lack of negativity, even at funerals.

Jamie Hauken

I think that dentist didn't even need to know about your anxiety, their behaviour was unacceptable either way. I agree with Rae, there is no such thing as being a diva when it comes to your health. And if there was, being upset at not getting a permanent crown when your doctor recommended it is nowhere near the line. I had a substitute dentist recently and had to get a second appointment and can also feel a ridge and have to wait for months for something that could have been done that day and that might get worse over time. It's your own mouth that you live with every day! You deserve to be heard out, make your own informed choices and choose what you are and aren't comfortable with with an expert that you trust.

Tia

Hey guys, medical doctor here! The process to be a physician in the US is complicated, confusing, and expensive. Unfortunately this has resulted in a shortage of physicians and huge barrier to access medical education for many who want to pursue medicine. I’ll do my best to explain, would love to hear from others about their perspectives/ if I missed anything. You do 4 years of college/ get a bachelors degree (many get BA’s or BS’s in a science like biology or chemistry because these classes are required pre- requisites for medical school acceptance, but you don’t have to get these degrees necessarily). then you do 4 years of medical school and upon graduation you are an MD or DO depending on what school. After med school you have to “match” into a training program to do your “residency” and this is where doctors get their specific speciality (OB/ gynecology, general surgery, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, emergency medicine ect). Medical students for the most part have a good idea of what speciality they want to pursue, so they do what they can to be good applicants for those specific program (if you want to match in a surgical residency, submitting letters of recommendation from surgeons for example). When you are applying to residency as a med student, you apply to 1 speciality (rarely apply to 2 in case you’re trying to get into a very competitive speciality like dermatology, however you have to do this kinda on the DL because it’s looked down upon by programs). So if you’re a person who wants to do OB/gyn, you’re applying to only ob/gynecology residencies. Some program specialities are so competitive, either because there is not many programs in the country for it or because it is highly sought after by all the other graduating 4th year medical students in the country; in these cases you do have to have good board exam scores to have a better chance to match. If your scores aren’t competitive for that speciality, then med students may chose a different speciality to apply to. All of this to say: most men who are OB/gyns wanted to be in that role. As a speciality OB/gyn is unique and sought after for some who want a good combination of both procedures, surgery, and outpatient care- so it can attract those who really like surgery/ procedures + direct patient care. There is also more nuance to what happens if you don’t match into the speciality you wanted, you end up doing a “SOAP match” where you may end up doing a speciality/ internship in a primary care setting you didnt initially want. I apologize for the novel haha I hope I made sense, - A child & adolescent psychiatry Fellow (fellowship = optional subspecialty post residency)

Tia

*edit was for grammar

Tia

Very well said!

Tia

Good watch

Tia

Okay, after reading the other comments and finishing the segment, I have more to add/ share perspective on 😅 I can definitely see how one could come to Rae’s perspective on this, and it is important to note that many do / would agree with her. I do not believe this stems from malicious misogyny, but rather from the very valid underlying fears/ stress women carry in conjunction with an understandable lack of knowledge on the overall profession. OB gyn is one of the most taxing specialities both emotionally and physically. It takes a very dedicated, compassionate and honestly bad ass person to do it. Women’s health has been disregarded for so long and has led to discrepancies that add to morbidity and mortality to this day, we need more physicians than ever before. So much can go wrong if not caught/ prevented, even when a woman is otherwise healthy. The treatment, advancement, and advocacy that male OBGYNS provide for womens health far outweigh the men who do harm. It’s important to remember as well that there are safeguards in place during exams including the ethical standard to have female staff/ chaperone present. when I delivered by first baby during my OB rotation, it was such a life changing and rewarding experience, I can definitely see how that could easily become a calling for either gender. I am glad we can have these discussions and am hopeful that we can use these opportunities to educate rather than crucify. 💕💕💕💕 love you girls!

Phuongy

So your appointment was moved to tooth-hurty (2:30)? … I’ll show myself out

Miki

As a dentist viewer I always am tuned in for these discussions. it was very negligent of the dr to leave an open margin and ESPECIALLY to not adjust the bite. It is also absolutely avoidable to not have your cheek be sliced up, I’m confused how they managed to do that

Screen Larpers

you wouldn't happen to be.... a man?

Screen Larpers

what about her saying "i've heard horror stories from friends" made you hear "one story on the internet" exactly

alex

Alanah Pearce as a guest yes PLEASE!!!

Azathoth#0004

"Ever since I hear that story of a guy who work at a nursing home who r*pe..." so you either didn't listen or mentally try to be a white knight .

Sable M

I’m starting to question if anyone actually needs twitter anymore. I think it’s living off it built up value from before it turned into a AI nightmare and botted hell hole. I think just a few real people FEEL like they need to be there to hear from their streamer/famous person and those streamer/famous persons feel like they need to be there to reach their audience (which have largely left the platform since it’s no longer a good site for anything) Like it’s time to leave. Let the hateful people yell to themselves, they’re gunna yell and find stuff to be mad at, weather any other actual people are there or not

Galen

Genuinely don't understand people who are in long term relationships that don't want to get married. As someone who has been single forever, I wish I was married with kids at this point in my life!!

renaclerican

I know I’m late, but I don’t think Rea disagrees!! She said “you antagonised the Christians” which is just a bad financial decision from QTs part and she’s not wrong on that one😂 I wouldn’t be too shocked if QTs audience was predominantly Christians

renaclerican

That part was surely a joke, she clearly meant to say “not all men, but always men”, and I appreciate her saying it. Feminist takes from Rea is what I’m looking forward to the most, I hope she only gets braver with her takes ❤️

renaclerican

She’s not wrong, if you can choose anything then why would you choose being a male gyno of all things, be fr. Most women see right through it and only see women anyway.
