“How often do you think about the Roman Empire?” “Not enough” gigachad answer

Michael Kiwan

My dad never picks up my calls either lol

Pnwoah

I was hoping qt would ask slime about the Twitter name because I want to know but no shot I'm asking that in his chat

Virilikus

Wine About It is literally the same as it has always been, just without the wine. lol If you compare the before and after episodes, the content is the same. I could see it not being as fun to do via discord instead of in person though. I personally stop doing things when I'm not having fun with them anymore, so if that's the issue then it's understandable.

Jose Marin

Welp the first half of the episode made me grateful I don’t have Tik tok, sounds like fake videos and ridiculous trends. The second half made me appreciate that you guys are at least aware of the huge diff in vibes of the podcast. Being remote def changed the vibe and mood, not being able to do guests together definitely feels like 2 different podcasts when qt has a guest. Definitely feels like a surprise every week because you never know what’s going to be on or if it’ll be a good or bad episode. I think the numbers def speak to that but also I still look forward to the episodes every week just sometimes I leave elated or disappointed 😂. I think your Patreon subs and revenue show that you have a lot of loyal fans who pay just for you guys so hopefully you guys figure out what you want to me in a podcast. That said, tier lists, reacts, Reddit recap and all the stream metas, personally, isn’t the best content. Hang in there and I never think about the Roman empire

EJ Hardy

zyn is like a nicotine patch/gum kinda thing

Duck

I used to be big in the Roman Empire type stuff (I had 4 years of Latin, and 1 year of Ancient Greek for my language class. I took Hellenistic exams, mythology exams, roman history exams, etc). The club was actually fun (we did chariot racing, and would carve sculptures out of soap). That was an interesting time in my life. It was more-so with my quizbowl nerdy friends and not like "alpha male" stuff LOL

escapist

Not aimen almost doxing zipper 3’s real name lol

VancityRen

I love the different paths to Roman empire thoughts: aquaducts, the Bible, and just Slime being Slime lol

Duck

I'm a girl too for context

TenaciousDealer

Lmao Connor knew the assignment with that phone call

77katz77

All ik is last time I searched QT on twitter to find when the Gala is, Slime showed up first.

Julie T

cant wait to see the in person content when maya visits! whatever happens with the pod, i hope you two continue making content together

vindo

as a girl I find the Roman Empire really interesting and I do think about it quite frequently but maybe I am just traumatised by Latin class idk

TenaciousDealer

I love the Pod and will continue to watch, but I don't think you should do it if you're not enjoying making it and not feeling proud about it. Like you say if you come to the conclusion you still want to do it you could always end wine about it and then come back later with a new pod with new ideas.

Devyn

i also wondered why slime's name was that and sometimes when he tweets, i think it's you and then i get confused so i think it's an inside joke that only he's in on lmao also wtf was caleb's answer about the roman empire, that was the strangest response xD

wolf001zra

Last couple episodes were pretty good tbh. Maybe go back to every other week and see where it lands. Viewership is a fickle thing.

Axolotl_Pines

I've always been big into roman and greek stuff, but I think the roman empire thing must be more of a western trend, cuz I think about other eastern empires more often and what they've done. Especially the Clock fountain made in the Andalus (spain) when it was under the Ummayyad Caliphate

amalia

totally valid if you guys are having second thoughts on the pod, but i think we’ve gotten some great segments throughout the weeks!! the witchcraft deep dive, the pipeline discussion, the continuous taylor lore, etc… i feel like it’s been sick personally. whatever y’all decide, i just hope it leaves you guys happy :)

Nemo

Whatever else about the rebrand; I think it's silly to say you'll struggle with selling a new product because you're having trouble capitalizing off the old "Wine About It" audience since the tone has changed. Growing isn't just trying to get back the listeners who were here for the livestreams of getting drunk and gossiping when that is not what you guys want to do anymore. If anything its just way more confusing to new listeners to have your guys podcast being about wine when you're not drinking.

Chipz

thinking about the roman empire for what? lmao

Crungo Bungo

zyn are nicotine pouches people put in their mouths so it’s probably just funny to switch out the cin with it

soloPFL

In a tick-tock world I’m a boomer, felt to old for Vine already and that Roman Empire question is so random. If someone asked me I’d say 2-3 times a year and I had 8 years of classical Latin in school.

FrostWolf

I'm so glad you guys callled around to your guy friends about the Roman Empire meme, that was hilarious. I tend to think about it every day but that's probably because I play historical strategy games

77katz77

The pipeline of how I got to thinking about the Roman Empire before seeing the trend: Got fed a TikTok talking about how the Pyramids were older to the Romans than the Roman are to us, probably spawned on by the alien stuff and how aliens couldn't have been responsible for the Pyramids.

Sarah Venuto

Maybe you guys can rebrand to Everything About it? And you guys could keep current segments like pop culture, conspiracy deep dives, events, etc. I think a rebrand could help especially with motivation about the podcast. Plus you can add more segments like how qt was saying about the teir lists.

Jake

“I only believe the people who replied with the thing I thought was true before I asked the question”

Mandy Groening

ok Connor's answer is Gold, and Maya's boyfriends answer was funny.

ThominosPizza

I like the current format but I understand the inclination to view it demeaningly as a podcast with no format that exists for no reason and isn't about anything but literally every YouTuber/streamer podcast falls into this category. The Yard, Trash Taste, Fear&, Chuckle Sandwich - they are all just about nothing. They decide to cover specific topics and talk about shit that happens in their life like a panel gameshow with no questions. A hard reset would be pretty cool - everyone reading this should look to The Blindboy Podcast. Just one guy who does stream of consciousness diatribes but covers mental health, art history, psychology, Irish folklore, esoteric news stories. It has no format and isn't about anything in particular.

seni

hopefully the other patrons don’t give me hate for this but it just genuinely seems like you guys should part ways with the podcast <3 I can’t lie and say I’m still enjoying the podcast as I once did and even as a viewer, it’s clear that although u guys are still best friends, u guys have very different boundaries when it comes to content creation that get in the way of creating a podcast you both are happy with! Would love to continue following Maya’s conservation work while maybe seeing QT do her own podcast by herself or with someone she vibes with :)

Allie Gove

I honestly like this podcast because of honesty and realness and really almost can’t stomach comedy podcasts because it just seems so forced when people are only talking to be funny. You guys are naturally funny way more often here (and maybe I just have a darker sense of humor like QT). This and Fear& are my favs and literally just because it’s just interesting conversation. I also get needing to feel like you’re proud but I do think the episodes have always been great

Ridorana12

I don't think any episodes are bad. I enjoy the conversations you two provide. It's like a gateway to see how someone else views the same world and how they are are to function within it. Thank you for the podcast. :)

kerk

you two could read the dictionary to each other and i'd probably still watch

Michal Dobrzynski

FYI I still enjoy your podcasts. Maybe diversify your content to appeal to a wider audience?

mgnnn

another member would be cool but ik maya's not into that

Robert Fisher

A: I think about the roman empire every time I see some history memes. I see a lot of history memes. B: If your water smells like rotten eggs, do you heat the water with gas? You could have a leak and the smell could be thiol. If it smells like rotten eggs far away from the heater though, probably not a gas leak.

Brendan Lanigan

I don't think I'm alone in this but the main draw of the podcast for me is how vulnerable you both are. It's pretty rare to hear people being this open while still being funny but I completely get not wanting to talk about mental health on such a large platform, it must be exhausting.

em

as your resident dream stan, i can confirm the antis would throw a huge fit over anything he did, but we'd be super happy if he hung out with you, maya!! (:

Jacob Steinberg

Im pretty sure slimes username is a play on ZYN nicotine pouches. The yard always talks about them lol.

em

i love listening to you all talking about whatever interests you. i would be sad to lose this podcast from my routine but i respect your potential choice to stop making it. <3

em

also pls try to get dream to the gala lmao

Emelie

Wait, my dad talks a lot about the roman empire with me and it made me think about the roman empire a lot so I even went to Rome just to go on guide tours about the roman empire HUUUH

jinx 388

So excited for the Galla 😩😩😩

Sarah Pitman

This is the one and only podcast I listen to and subscribe to, I love that you guys talk about any and everything and I genuinely look forward to them each week, even the “low energy” episodes

Elijah

I absolutely love this podcast so much, but i do understand the rebrand question and everything that comes with that and I think most people would say the same. I suppose the question really is if you guys enjoy it, if you see value in what you’re producing with it for yourself and if it fits your brand of what you want to be seen as, if those things matter to you, which i’d say is a personal question and there’s no right or wrong answer. If you feel a rebrand is needed for any reasons then I think many of us here, at least on patreon but i’m sure youtube as well, will keep supporting and watching and listening as they can because I think this podcast is less about the wine and drama and gossip. Looking at the youtube comments thats at least what i’d think anyway. But obviously i don’t see the stats that you do, so whatever you decide ultimately should be something you’re happy with at least.

Jack Grimm

Aqueducts weren’t exclusively Roman Empire

DaddyWarbucks

my wife texted me the roman empire question and i was so confused. my answer was basically nothing lmao

kxngpxn420

as a man i havent ever thought abt the roman empire outside of history class 💀

Amanda

Ok crazy idea- you guys cut the podcast down to once a month, but you take a trip and meet each other at a different location each time. You have a girls weekend and do different activities to get stories for the pod. And film the podcast together on location. You already have a theme song from girl's trip! Regardless of what you guys eventually do with the pod- I've genuinely enjoyed each episode. I find your humor and conversation really relatable as a 30ish year old woman and I hope you find happiness in whatever project comes next.

BryceIsRightJr

Im a guy and i didnt even know of this roman empire trend but I really do think about it multiple times a year AND i actually know guys that are fanatics about ancient warriors so ive heard a lot about the romans from them before. Also Caleb's answer to the question was PERFECT lmao

bumblebeech

As someone who discovered Wine About It only after you were remote and is not familiar with streamer culture at all, I really enjoy the podcast. I think how the podcast is currently may be more appealing to an audience who are more familiar with YouTube content than Twitch content. But I also don’t tend to watch podcasts that have a specific theme, my favorite podcasts are those that feel like you’re just hanging out. It’s a comfy podcast.

Chiara Benoit Pequignet

I absolutely love the podcast (my gf is probably sick of hearing me say "ITS TUESDAY, ITS WINE ABOUT IT DAY") and i have loved every single episode that came out. I think of it less like a podcast that would be similar to a true crime podcast or something like that, but like watching your favorite streamer in just chatting. Theres something so nice about hearing you guys talk about things (almost as if it's a conversation with friends). I've also been struggling with mental health and hering your stories help tremendously :))

RussianI3aer

I listen to and enjoy every episode Aren't the views on YouTube really good for a 6 month break compared to subscriber count? The podcast just isn't leaving its sphere as often which may be from the titles being too insular?

DaddyWarbucks

Comparing your 2 person podcast to the Yard, a 4 person podcast, isn't really fair

Shaliek

Not me tearing up at the spider cartoon...

Jeremy Wolford

I think about Ancient Greece once every two months or so but not the Roman Empire

Lambsbecomelions

I think most men probably think about it once or twice a year. It’s incredibly interesting and has a lot of masculine things about it.

Mitch Mitcherson

I think about the Roman Empire about once a year against my will. This is that time.

DewayneIsAwsome

This is pretty much how I feel too. Like I've been watching since wine about it first began and I never really viewed it as an official podcast but more so two best friends opening up about any topic that comes to mind and just being honest with how they're feeling. That coupled with the extras for patreon has been seriously an all around wonderful experience. I hope they decide to stick around and maybe make some changes before making the decision to end it but whatever they do I'm just happy to be here.

Sean L

Just to share my thoughts and experience with the podcast. I watched every episode that was in person. I watched a few when you came back and I was/am happy to support you guys with the patreon. Like QT said I have been kind of checking out after episodes that are particularly negative mental health focused. I think that stuff is good to talk about but it’s not what I personally look for in a podcast. I click back in every few episodes and I really enjoyed this one. You guys are both really funny but I know it’s not easy to just turn that on when you aren’t feeling that great. My favorite podcast is the fuck face podcast from rooster teeth, it’s just 3 friends messing around and trying to make each other laugh and they do a lot of bits. It’s not particularly structured, there’s no theme other than friends try to make each other laugh. Whatever you guys end up doing with the podcast I hope it’s something you can both be proud of whatever that ends up looking like.

Joey

There doesn't need to be a "theme" or "topics" focused podcasts. I think people are just fans of qt and Maya and this is the podcasts where two people who's content you enjoy, talk. That's it lol.

Cameron

My boyfriend said he thinks about the Roman Empire a few times a week lmao

seashell

my initial reaction was that i never think about the roman empire but i realized i probably do a couple times a year. i think the only reason it ever comes up in my head is due to lgbt issues we face today, since my understanding is that at least for men gay sex was common/acceptable depending on social class back then. obviously they werent progressive like we would consider today, but for their time they were sexually.

Steve

Is forsen invited

seashell

also for what its worth, you brought up chuckle sandwich and switching topics like that each week is a pretty good format. the spooky stuff has been fun too. i think most new people are going to stay/sub because of your banter more than a single topic

H

It's such a ridiculous question, either you get the real answer: Never, a modest answer: Once a month, Or a ridiculous answer

Alex Blythe

This is my favorite podcast because it’s two friends chatting about life and the stresses of having a busy life. It seems real and relatable to me without needing to be subject related. I look forward to it but totally get if it’s not fun, motivating or inspiring then make a change. I really feel that some of the episodes you perceive as being bad are some of my favs. I don’t mind the remote but can see how it’s hard. Biz with friends can be complex and challenging. A comment said everything about it and I liked the name and concept!

Arni Andresson

Yeah you are missing the point here, we would not be patreons if we didn't like it... either keep it like it is or just stop, you are doing way more for us than you think, the real talk and mental health talk alone is worth keeping this like it is and I hope you don't change this if it changes everyone would just go and support fear&

Thomas Hilden

I genuinely think I have at least one passing thought about Rome every single day

Simon Hanson

Something you could consider is adding a third host. Somebody with new stories and new opinions to talk about. Would take the pressure off both of you a little if you don't have anything new to talk about. Think thats why the Yard is succsesful because its 4 people. Theres always something to talk about. Same for Fear&. Either way tho podcast is great i don't really feel the quality has dropped off personally.

Lezzleee

I know it's incredibly hard, especially remote, but The Yard and even Fear & benefit from having 3 or more people. Someone is always picking up the thread or bantering. Just having more guests, for new content would be fresh. You both do recurring bits independently for tiered Patreon, but I might consider adding recurring bits to the podcast so you have fallback content people can expect at least once a month, whether that's a tier list, or a review, or something. You kind of had it with the wine pour, but it doesn't need to be weekly. Your general audience no Youtube comes back for some predictability, not just the Patreon.

Marc !

i think about the roman empire from time to time because people say it failed as it grew too large to be managed. and sometimes you wonder if the USA is headed the same way

Phatchopolis

I guess it depends on what QT and Maya want for themselves. I don’t think a podcast needs a specific theme or structure weekly to work. One of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to was Smodcast and there was no set thing. The draw of the podcast was the two friends just shooting the shit and talking about whatever. Actually told of friend of mine recently that Wine About It was my new Smodcast. The draw is the chemistry you two have together regardless of what you are talking about. That’s the real dynamic that works and why I imagine most people are subbed to the Patreon.

Martin Louis V

Stop trying to be a “Pick Me Podcast” lol. You guys try so hard, even though you both know exactly what works and how to farm. You can’t change the format and expect it to be the same results. The name doesn’t matter, and is already catchy! The community can feed ideas, but you also need another producer. Ideally one that interacts and feeds topics. Let your communities create a logo and merch for you guys. There does need to be more effort with collabs with effort from both hosts. Not my place, but it should be discussed if you want growth. Please don’t start from scratch, there is enough structure to keep building!

Kaylee

I’ve watched the pod every week since it came out and there is definitely a shift from going remote. I still enjoy it personally and love listening to it on my way home from work (one time I got terribly lost bc I was just listening to the pod and not paying attention to where I was going). I do miss the more energetic aspect of the earlier episodes and that may be something that’s impossible to do remote. I also miss the “womanhood” aspect of the first eps where it was like very rooted in things that all women go through. That still is definitely in the pod in that it’s still really relatable but it feels much more toned down now, probably because we’ve heard all of the stories already so there isn’t much to go off of. I’m not sure I’m phrasing what I mean correctly so hopefully I don’t get flamed. Maybe having a third person, even if it’s not “streamer” based would be good to get fresh stories and banter from. I know maya is opposed to doing stuff with streamers but QT mentioned Ludwig’s sister or something like that! I’d say earlier eps were very much hanging out with friends having fun and newer eps are more like you’re on the phone with a friend catching them up on your life. It’s not bad by any means but it is different. I still enjoy it and watch every week!

Kaylee

Side note I asked my brother about the Roman Empire and he said he thinks about it weekly, and that he had thought that day about how if they figured out how to do healthcare then we’d all still be speaking Italian. I asked my uncle as well (who has a brain tumor and therefore can’t really lie) and his answer was pretty similar in that he thinks about it about weekly.

Ruben

I think there are a lot of reasons to think about the Roman empire. Old roads? Roman empire. Sport stadiums? Roman empire (Latin word) Aquaducts? Roman empire. Viaducts? Roman empire. Bureaucracy? Roman empire (Latin word). Taxes? Roman empire. Months of the year? Roman too. The planets in the solar system? Roman names too. The Roman empire is probably the most interesting and may be the most impactful era in our modern history. And that's not even counting the impact those times still have on the cultural differences between certain areas in Europe.

ntGonzo

I think viewers and some content creators really undervalue the concept of making content that you would enjoy consuming. If you two don’t like what you’re making, 100% change it. It feels disingenuous if the person you’re watching doesn’t care or like what they’re making. I think spooky/weird myths and folklore stories would be fun if you wanted to do a theme. For doing just a regular conversation podcast, you two are very limited by a lot of different factors so it makes sense that yall aren’t feeling it. Also the people that want mental health podcast when it seems like they don’t wanna go that route is a little selfish

Grace

I personally really like listening to whatever you guys have on your mind every week. I prefer it over having guests or specific topics. I think maybe you guys are over thinking it and a little too hard on yourselves over what you think a "real" podcast should be! I just find your personalities funny and the way you interact with each other is great. I stand by thinking the rebrand of "distracted." is a good idea and plays well into random thought convos :) Hope you guys figure it out <3

leadpolarbear

i think a podcast about nothing is what most people want, and any pressure you put on yourselves to make it better is completely on you. I am a new subscriber because i want to support you two and learn a lot from your podcast. anyways thats all, hope to be able to sub longer. <3 :3

Scrando

I think the main draw for the podcast is when you two are talking about things that genuinely interest you or you’re excited to talk about. I don’t think the podcast needs to have a specific theme or goal, you two just play off each other well and if you can find things that you want to share/talk about then that’s what people will love to hear. There are plenty of fans that weren’t swifties before they heard QT passionately talk about her and her music which I think goes to show that you don’t need to talk about stuff that people are already interested in. Finding the things that you want to talk about is probably the hardest thing of course but I think it’s important to know that it doesn’t have to be the same thing every week! <:^)

Anthurium

Just asked my husband how often he thinks about the Roman Empire and he said twice a week.

Sundeigh

I don’t really know what the podcast is but I don’t really think that matters to me either. I like hearing you guys talk that’s all. If you don’t want to do it then don’t. The vibe is vastly different than it used to be but as I said personally I just like hearing you guys talk so it’s whatever.

Chiara Benoit Pequignet

yes!!! trash tv is my routine during my lunch break and the mini episodes just make me so happy!! i think patreon was an amazing idea overall

Daniel Kindler

I compare it a little bit to Fear&. I love Will and Hasan but the addition of QT and Austin really elevated the cast and made the podcast so much better. Maybe another host would help. So it's not the problem that you feel you told all your stories already. But yeah. Really like the podcast with you two.

Fi

To me, it doesn’t matter what the specific content is. I’m not particularly interested in TS but I sit through it bc I think u guys are cool and I enjoy hearing what feels like a normal conversation and your dynamic is fun

Fi
>>118911812

Plus it’s not been “wine about it” for a minute but people are still here and still listening, you may as well keep the same thing just rebrand than scratch it and start again, the people that don’t like it can just change their mind, if anything just do it less often when you’re ready

shreklover

New patreon sub here but long time listener- love just hearing y’all talk, I look forward to the new episode every week! Would continue to listen whatever y’all decide to do w rebrand or not! I think what draws me to this is y’all’s dynamic together and the way that you give each other space to talk and explain things so that the other can understand in a way that feels non judge mental It kind of just feels like the girlies hanging out and chatting / catching up with each other which I think is still very fun and nice to listen to

Miranda Andrews

Honestly I love this podcast because of the real vibes each week. Nothing is forced and I can sit back and listen while I do dishes, work, etc without having to use too much brain power. To me it's very relaxing and fun!! I hope y'all stick with it. (I've been along the ride since the beginning) Also, I've been told a lot of people quit something right before they are about to have a breakthrough. Just a thought I wanted to pass along 🖤 Whatever y'all decide - its been a pleasure!

Trenton Murray

tbh I just love listening in the first place. I could care less about the content you talk about. I think you SHOULD feel proud of having a quality product. Especially considering how many people have gone and paid for more of it. Not many podcasts have achieved that in the grand scheme of things.

✰ ki ✰

this is my favourite podcast like it makes my week every week i'm soo attached to it without you guys even needing to have actual things to talk about lmao like i think a lot of us just like you both as people so i dont think you need to worry about that sort of thing like it's never boring for me !!!!! i love it so much <3

BinkyBonky

Tbh i just think you guys are funny and that's why i watch

Leah

I’m just a singular person but I’ve been consistently listening to you guys for about a month and a half now and just got the 1 month Patreon (my first ever) the other day. And man am I surprised to hear about the rebranding stuff, I had no idea I’m just catching up on the bonus episode. Just saying I love the content. Do whatever makes you feel most comfortable we’re here for it :)

Anastasia

I love the current content - it feels like you're the only ones actually being real about life and about your moods and I love it. You're also very funny, even when you're not trying, and I would be really sad if it ended now!! /// maybe stop posting the YouTube episode here, as I find myself watching it here instead of YouTube and I bet I'm not the only one, which would explain your lower numbers there) /// I find myself watching The Yard less and less because I actually think it's just not been as funny and that they don't really care, whereas I'm dying to watch you guys every week.

Jack & Amy

I love the content . I love watching down to earth people having conversation. Make me feel a part of the story and community. as it very easy to disassociate as all other content seems very streamlined and produced . keep being amzing and perfect people . love you guys

beandoy

Idk but i think qtzynderlla is just a funny joke about zyn with is nicotine gum basically

beandoy

or maybe i’m just crazy and know too much ab nicotine..

Ana Gallina

I know this is an old episode, but I think wine about should totally still exist even if it's not what it was. I discovered Maya and QT a little before Streamer Awards 2023 and was pumped to find out they had a podcast together. I love this format and haven't even seen the old eps

Steven Precourt

"Romans are in the Bible"? 🤣 That's where ☦️ comes in.
