JJtooly

This is one of my favorite movies of all time!!

Bria

Used to pray for times like this 🙏🙏🙏

KellyAnn

Never seen this movie but im so excited lol!

Cat Wilde

This is so exciting!

Erik Ivarsson

Lets fuckin gooooo! I love this movie, can't wait to see what Maya thinks

dar

LETS GO excited to watch this tonight

TummyTempter

Hearing QT say that this movie invented the Manic Pixie Dreamgirl makes my back hurt. (This film was arguably an attempted deconstruction of the MPDG trope that had been done to death for the last ~5 years) Edit: I swear I'm not a hater I loved the commentary I just have no social skills pls dont ban me

JJtooly

My opinion is that Summer knew what the guy wanted and shouldn't have let it go on, but the guy also knew what he wanted and knew that summer didnt want the same things. You can't control who you love though so I wouldn't say anyone's in the wrong, it's just life :)

Annie

Can the subtitles be turned on the next time there's a watch party please? Sometimes it's hard to tell what Maya and QT are reacting to

ForstHeld

The Film is from 2009 I had to goole it to download my backup copy ;-)

Ed

FINALLY I WAITED SO LONG!

BS

Fun fact MPDG was coined in a review of elizabethtown and the reviewer now regrets coining the term because of the overuse of the term when it doesn't fit the character.

KellyAnn

This movie is literally every situationship I’ve ever heard someone complain about 💀 idk why the guy who made this movie is acting like she is so different then anyone else in the dating world

Taylor

There's so many cameos in this movie but oH SHIT IS THAT NARUTO???

Eriel Cruz

It is a sad movie but good movie as it cause reflexion and this inside feeling I think. Not sure if I can say Summer was wrong or not, just know that people are complex and sometimes they do and act just based on what makes them feel well, it is selfish but it's easy and most common way that these kind of situations happen, each of them wanted to enjoy the moment just had different idea of what was that and the consequences of it.

kerk

more than anything i took away from this post, i want to know how qt felt about past lives

Taylor

Yeah the term was coined in 2005 (googled it lol) but my earliest memory is Almost Famous which came out in 2000

D

Please do more movies for patreon there so fun!

Pigeon Camera

OMG imagine a flash mob at the streamer awards!!!

TummyTempter

Actually so interesting hearing Maya and QT say "no guy is like this." At risk of sounding like a Not Like Other Boys, my friends and I watched this in our early 20s and were all like "finally a movie that captures the guy's experience in romance." The awkward obsessing over a girl you have feelings for even though you just met. Getting "I'm not interested" followed by romance anyway. The stage where every little thing about them beautiful and perfect (the most unrealistic part is that he actually admits this to his guy friends). The part where she just disengages instead of having difficult conversations. The part after break-up, where you just have to swallow the fact that you didn't make her happy and someone else does. The post-everything reflection where you question how much of it happened the way you think it did. Not that EVERY relationship was like this, but every man I knew watched this movie and went "yeah" and had a story about a past relationship, or someone they knew. It makes me a little sad that one of the few romance movies where the man isn't a caricature of masculinity to appeal to female audiences gets met with "this isn't real."

Chipz

her writing takes a weird dip near the end, I feel like making her suddenly someone's fiancée was really random and made her look awful, cause up until that point you could see why they are both in the wrong/both have a different understanding of a relationship or what they want from each other.

Cynthia Soly

I think neither suck or both, either way its equal

Jose Marin

Thanks for putting this on the tier 1, if it was a mistake then oops but thanks anyways. Watching this again I still like it but def see that both of them were at fault but yea summer def micro cheats and leads him on. He should’ve known his boundaries and moved on after a few months and she should’ve let him know it wasn’t going anywhere, she may have said it but I think her actions said otherwise. That train and wedding part though is bananas and the hand holding at the end too. Relationships are hard and we don’t always do the right thing just what keeps us happy or comfortable in that moment

TummyTempter

Damn it goes back further than I thought. The earliest I could think of was Garden State in 2004.

Drew

Hate this movie but loved watching it with both your inputs!!

Muffinman98

Petition for more movie watchalongs. I vote mean girls or 10 things I hate about you

Ridorana12

53:02 the little motif there sounds like that soft melody from Avatar the Last Airbender (c5-b4-g4-e4?), no?? :0

Cynthia Soly

Thank you for watching this one! I wanted to rewatch it for ages, it used to be one of my favorite movies, and i think i still like it a lot. I think I take away different things from this movie than most people here, I always focused on him finally going for his dream in the end and him starting the life he's wanted. While Summer also just goes separate ways~

Moose

I would be happy if there were more of these.

BS

If we're doing heath ledger movies. A knights tale is great. It's a love story for the boys(because it has knights and stuff)

Krosech

Hear me out, bi-weekly movie reacts instead of trash tv

Chris

i think they both had their flaws, but i tend to lean more towards summer’s side. i think it’s because i’ve very much been a tom in my life, and that mentality and immaturity really held me back in life. tom definitely isn’t wrong for being confused with what summer actually felt, but you also have to consider that the signals tomorrow was getting probably didn’t mean much to summer at all. that’s especially true when you take into account that tom’s an unreliable narrator. for example, that moment where she’s laughing in bed is so significant to him that it becomes a symbol of his feelings towards her, but for her it was probably just hanging out with a friend. idk i think it’s a sad situation where they’re both at fault but also not at fault. it just is. they both expected something from each other that the other couldn’t give.

Ezekiel Welsh

Summer comes across as an emotional terrorist to me in this. Especially in the last 3rd of the movie.

gabe becker

Maya getting every actor wrong is really funny

Jacob Ickes

I have now been fully convinced that maya is face blind

Devyn

i don't have any friends so this feels like watching a movie with friends, i vote for more movie nights :D

Winn

I think both are wrong. Calling Summer an emotional terrorist is easy because we are seeing things from Tom's side. I don't think walking away would've been easy for her, the same way it wouldn't have been easy for him. We just put the blame on her more because we see more of Tom's pain since he's the main character. She also was depressed and not happy.

FrostWolf

Did she think the older brother with long hair was Spencer from iCarly? xD

Rae Celestra

ahhhh this movie always makes me cry 😭

Shaun Cheah

It's likely already clear from the number of likes ("hearts"? I'm unsure of the terminology on Patreon. Apparently on Twitter they were "favourites"? Whatever, lol) that what you've written has resonated well, but I figured I'd also add a comment to show support in that way, too. You said what we're all thinking, man. Well done. And yeah, it's rough. Love. The good times are so good, and it's almost a shame. If the highs weren't so high, we could almost just avoid it altogether. Save ourselves the hassle. Alas.

FrostWolf

I loved watching you guys react to this, I would love to see more of these! Maybe next time you guys could react to Passengers the movie Maya talked about on a recent episode.

James DePersico

Just starting the movie. Excited for this new react format! Will report back when it’s done.

Moose

Quick question. Does anyone know how to join the discord?

James DePersico

You know, not a movie I ever would have watched on my own. But damn do Maya and QT make it better! Their running commentary was delightfully interspersed and really gave additional fun context to what would have otherwise been a bit of a drag of a movie for me. Gotta agree with the ladies here, that Summer really screwed over our boy Tom in the end. But I guess it’s a happy ending for them both, so good for them. Looking forward to next week’s Trash TV!

loofilovegood

Watch eternal sunshine of the spotless mind next, its a very interesting movie

Tee Hurd

first time watching. great movie, though i can't stop laughing at Maya and QT's quote, "You're...a heterosexual" "No?"

tilly

this is my first time watching and as someone currently in a situationship im sick to my stomach. summer is an evil individual

Jaded Kills

Oh my god I’m so excited for this!!!! I’ve only seen this once when I was young but I have a bad memory and remember nothing lol

Kyle Calvert

She may have been referring to Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds

Tuesday

"is that will ferrell?"

Karl

I watched this movie like a day before yall uploaded this react, and I ended up annoyed/hating them both

Erika

i understood the GIF that was made of Tom breaking the plates without context during early tumblr days & i've never felt it harder than i do currently :| Summer kinda triggering my relationship traumas tho lmao... (first time ever seeing this movie, glad you guys hosted it!!! :D)

Nettles

This was so fun, I hope y'all do it again and I'm a gloomy girl like qt, love when it rains.

tetrischemist

I totally get qt on just eating kimchi by itself. I'll just go to the fridge and get some out to eat every now and then. also holy shit lmao only a few mins into the movie and maya is just the most face blind/celeb unaware person. 20:00 missed opportunity for a cheesy "did *wii* pay for that ad?" joke 😔

Cameron

I’m with QT on the rain thing. It’s like instant serotonin. I’m sure it would be different if I worked outdoors though.

LanaJulie33

This was one of my favorite movies ever so I am stoked to watch!!

Sasha

That movie sucked and I agree with Mayas deduction

Lok

i dont like either of em XD dude is delusional, doesnt know his boundaries and how to express em and makes it other's problem, girl just didnt love him and using him lol

AidanMark8

Movie night was sick, would love to have more of these. Ps Summer is a goober

Sam Lowry

The cringe on this movie made my skin crawl. Y’all made it watchable, thanks Wine About It!

Dell

I don’t understand how they practically spent the whole day of the wedding together laughing flirting but her boyfriend who she loved so much never came up that’s crazy. Id need therapy

Julie T

i think next movie react should be all three lord of the rings movies extended editions

Tighe Pierce

Fun fact: Zooey Deschanel’s sister is Bones, from the hit TV Show “Bones”

myse1400

This movie is like La La Land if their relationship was dysfunctional

Abby

yay i love watch parties with wine about it! movies are so much better then tv shows! (less commitment) Can't wait for Mean Girls (i havent seen and im waiting to watch with yall) and whatever that other movie yall had planned was

Mitch Mitcherson

as Regina Spektor opens this movie I’m forced to assume this will be a fairly torturous watch. Thanks! It is supposed to be trash after all.

Paula Mejia

Maya, half heartedly: talk to 'em

Nolynn

so, before I transitioned (MtF) I’m ngl I thought just like Tom in this movie. And, granted, that’s influenced by pop culture and I was also >17. BUT, a lot of the things in here where QT is like “no one thinks like that” or “no one actually says that”, I can confidently say I did used to think like that, about women or about different relationships and situations. The scene where he’s pep talking himself in the mirror, or the scene where he has a moment of discovery after she says, “I’ve never told anyone that before”. That is exactly how my brain functioned. And I’m not commenting this to flex or to oppose anyone, but just to inform that those types of people actually exist lol and I was one of them

izzie

ngl this is my favorite movie of all time 💀

Kiera Clements

then, they can complete the manic pixie dream girl trilogy with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Kiera Clements

"i love The Smiths" immediate red flag

Kiera Clements

hearing Matthew Gray Gubler say "bodacious rack" was the funniest thing on Earth

Alaynamies

this movie has traumatised me

asaha98

I feel bad for Summer's new husband after all the micro-cheating on the wedding
