Black Fog means resentful energy means losing control of your mind if you are not strong enough. So, yes, it is possession. Yin iron is full of it and Wen guy uses 3 of them to create puppets. He is loosing his mind slowly. Madam Yu and many people discriminate against Wei Ying for being a son of servant. Only clan leader Jiang treats him better. But, Wei Ying does not have a standing of his own. If you notice, he never wears Jiang clan's purple. He wears a neutral black and red. But, no one is truly a bad person here (expect for wen clan); be it Madam Yu or Jiang Cheng. Especially Jiang Cheng. He do love his brother. In the eyes of others, especially a bitter, jealous woman like Madam Yu, since Wei Ying is a servant, he is expendable, he can be punished/killed to avoid war with wen clan. I feel that she was ready to cut his hand, but only stopped when she heard of supervisory office. That means, even after cutting his hand, they have to submit to wen clan or go to war with them. Cutting his hand means losing one able bodied solider who can be used to protect her own son. I mean, she is the clan leader and she has a responsibility to her clan. If she kills Wei ying to save the rest of the clan, is it right or wrong? Who gets to decide? It is all politics and plays a huge role in the entire story going forward. Wen clan did come with the intention of killing everyone in lotus pier. The rest was just for entertainment purpose for the wen bitch and also an excuse to justify their mass murder. None of it is Wei Ying's fault. The war was inevitable. They used him as a excuse and these lotus pier people put all the blame on Wei Ying too. Oops, I am still bitter over Jiang family I guess. Wei Ying is a family member when it is convenient and a servant when it is not. Sorry for the rant!! :-(
