I think you're going to struggle with some of the symbolism in this series. Teh drawing on Tarn's palm with a pencil isn't what you should have focused on. The focus was meant to be on the colour of the pencil. Red is Oh-aews's colour (his jacket, phone etc). The colour red being used to represent Oh-aew will feature again throughout the series. Teh didn't fall asleep on Tarn, he pulled out of kissing her and awkwardly put his head on her shoulder so it wouldn't be wierd (failed!). Teh wasn't leaving Oh-aew out when he offered to make all their friends flash cards because he had literally just given Oh-aew a huge tub full of his own cards. The closing scene, when Teh asks what it is that smells so good and Oh-aew tells him it's the same coconut shampoo he always uses, is intended to show Teh's feelings towards Oh-aew are changing - what he didn't like before is now something that he's starting to like. Teh is a complicated character with a lot of layers. You aren't always going to like him, but you should also try to understand him. He's definitely not a black and white character. He doesn't necessarily see things or approach things the way that most people would. It's possible (just a theory, not confirmed) that he may be on the autism spectrum (high functioning or mildly affected).
