MMF Library Issues (Patreon)

Hey everyone! Jazzy here!

So, as many of you may have noticed MMF's Shared with Me Library is currently not working. The issue started yesterday, and I got an update from my MMF contact with some unfortunate news that there is no ETA on when this will be fixed, only that they are working on it. That being said, it does seem to be an issue specifically with the Shared with Me Library. You can head on to our store page on MMF and go into the listings, as long as you had access you should be able to download things. We consider this a workaround but still wildly unacceptable from MMF. I will update this post when services have been properly restored.

Fow now all I can ask for is your patience and hope that MMF makes this right quickly. That being said we are exploring other options for archiving, such as migrating to Thangs (so moving entirely OFF Patreon to Thangs), which as long as your emails match with Thangs would bring all your past models along with you. This would be a large undertaking but if folks want that we could make it happen. MMF seems to have more and more issues every month and we do not want y'all to have a bad experience just trying to get your files. Patreon continues to not have a good system for this either. We wanna do what's best for y'all to get the stuff you paid for, so I'm curious what you all think! Please keep it kind!EDIT: Google Drive is NOT something we would consider due to it being pretty insecure and frankly, difficult to manage on a large scale as we are.EDIT EDIT: I'd also like to clarify, Thangs Migration would be optional if done.

Thanks for the update. Personally, I find the user UI of Thangs lacking easy navigation. It may just be a me thing though.

Compared to MMF? I'm honestly looking more at the site working above all else at this point haha But if we did, you wouldn't technically HAVE to move, but I can't guarantee MMF will work, apparently.

Ugh. I hate Thangs. I have one subscription through Thangs and it isn't my fav. I appreciate the flexibility, but Patreon is personally better for me.

Basically, would be a partial refund and scoot, or a hefty enough discount on your first year to make the difference, there's a few ways about it.

Surprisingly? Yeah. There’s no “search” function of the user site or a filtering system like MMF has. And it feels like they have the purchased files hidden/nested away just enough that you have to search through your profile to find them. It just feels like the dev team didn’t/don’t put as much effort into it like MMF does.

I've found the My Models search to be pretty good but I get where you're coming from. The search by designer is really nice

I do like the Search by Designer, but when I’m in the Designers page is where a search matters. Especially when the designer has a lot of files. No way to filter or search for something to narrow.

it does seem that while the "Shared With Me" does not work, the "All Objects" is showing those shared files without issues provided that August was the Solar Dragon & Mushturtle.

Thangs may not have the best UI but I prefer their flexibility vs Patreon. We’ll follow either way!

For us, it would be a pain to have to deal with multiple platforms. Tried that in the beginning of our journey, we were on all of the popular platforms and had commercial licenses scattered among all of them. It got really difficult to keep track of it all, so we whittled down the creators we were licensing with to just those on Patreon. Patreon seemed to be the one place most of the creators we wanted to follow were located. Hopefully MMF gets this sorted out quickly 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Yeah I know Thangs a few months ago added a direct search bar to designer pages, which is super nice. But MMF does absolutely win out in terms of the Library search. This is good feedback and I'll make sure to pass it along via my contact at Thangs

I have a subscription on Thangs. Welll, technically two, I noticed just this morning that when I upgraded my subscription it didnt actually upgrade it, it just purchased a second one. What i mean is, I'm subscribed to one designer and paying for two tiers. Thangs seems to be such a pos. But I have limited experience with it.

Patreon is the main platform because its the one most are familiar with! It's similar to Etsy in that regard, everyone knows it and trusts it, so it's the first place to go. Any migration to Thangs would be optional but I wanna give folks the option if they so choose.

That is a pain point that's been brought up with them. I will say their support at least isn't 5-7 business days like MMF, reach out via support@thangs.com they'll get ya fixed up!

Its not only yours with issues, I have 36 or so patreons and its effected all accounts, so glad i download the models as released, omg

Thanks for the update! Re: possibly moving from Patreon to Thangs, just wanted to chime in that I am not a fan of Thangs - I have a few Thangs memberships and rarely receive notifications of updates/new files. I also find it hard to locate what I am looking for on their website and app. I *really* hope you don’t switch over.

It wouldn't be a switch, just an option for folks. MMF has been failing in multiple areas and I don't feel I they can be trusted long term.

No worries, if you have to move, we will follow. Your designs are some of our most popular products 👍 I am familiar with Thangs, and that is where we initially purchased our first commercial license with you. I will just have to find a way to manage multiple platforms if all of the creators we follow wind up scattered around different platforms again :) I may pout about it a bit, but I will deal with it 😂

We wouldn't even be considering this if not for this mess up from MMF. Most of y'all on Patreon don't know but they've also messed up Tribes releases too, where they've been delayed for hours with no fix.... This isn't the first massive screw up from them

Thank you for the update! The response I got from my ticket was essentially, yes we know it’s an issue, we’ll get to it eventually. As someone that’s worked in and around IT for a couple of decades, that’s not acceptable. Not your fault at all, but I about had a heart attack last night realizing that hundreds of files were just gone. Would you be able to make the last month (August) accessible longer on Patreon until this is resolved?

Much prefer mmf. Thangs seems much more difficult to navigate. I avoid thangs as much as I possibly can.

I thought about it but the reality is that would give folks who didn't sub in August access as well. Thankfully as I said in the post, you can go to the Store page, and head to the listings and still download. The only two archived for August were the Solar Dragon and Mushroom Turtle!

Personally I'm here on mmf with flexi factotory, zou, mattmiremakes, stephen wolf, and you guys. I have other subscriptions on thangs and have really liked and appreciated not just the interface but the simplicity. I'd favor the move. I feel as though mmf has grown but not planned to scale well and it's causing problems.

It isn't you that too big, they should he able to accommodate IF they planned for it all to become as big as it did. I feel like the print to order and starting stores was the last straw. 🤦🤷‍♂️

I really like Thangs. I have a few subscriptions there and having everything in one place would be easier. Ive always had an issue with MMF and at one point, lost access to everything. Thankfully, it was restored, but it's left a bad vibe for me since. I have taken to downloading everything and keeping them on an external drive because of it.

I would favor Thangs. I joined on Patreon before knowing of the other platforms really. Now I have a few on Thangs and I do appreciate them. I truly do not like MMF. I have only been waiting to migrate for my sub to expire on Patreon. Though...I think I missed my yearly sub renewal date to migrate UGH

Sorry if I missed this in the thread, but is anyone else having issues logging to MMF? I know certain aspects of the site are down, just didn't know if logging in was also an issue

I am not sure if it is fixed for everyone but I was able to get in to my shared with me library just now

I have other subs that also use cults3d.com (slow) and gumroad. I usually claim on all available platforms and am currently setting up a NAS drive so that I have my own backup (lesson learned after one sub got a C&D letter. I'll be happy with whatever seems to be the best option, but thank you for looking at options to make things work better for your subscribers

Agreed! I joined Patreon first but wish I'd known more about platforms. I do kinda like the "blog" aspect of Patreon but not enough to keep me here. I'd switch to Thangs too.

I VERY MUCH prefer Patereon, as Thangs payment system and file receiving system is horrid.

I have certainly gotten feedback about navigation but this is the first I've heard of someone having issues with the file distro, considering its all automatic. Noted!

Have you considered Drop Box? It's far more secure than Google and has a very easy share method with permissions that only let certain people have access to different folders. Plus, you can have a hub of your account on your computer which is pretty nice.

The biggest issue is the speed at which downloads and the fact it forces creators to only allow a certain amount to DL per month which in turn is bad for people who lose files, also it does a horrible job of notifying people of new releases, I've gone months before to only realize that the person I was subbed to at the time, had released a bunch of files months before, but I didn't check manually, cause I didn't think any new were available yet.

Pretty much any of those drive styles are a bit hard to use en masse but I can re-look at dropbox!

So this is somewhat false! It is fully up to the DESIGNER to choose the type of downloads. My membership on Thangs works EXACTLY the same as Patreon. And to clarify those with download limits generally have their whole library open to download, just with limited downloads, so you can't super miss things are new models just get added to the pot. I really do think a lot of your complaints are misunderstandings of how it works!!! Which in itself is a problem too!

As someone who has been here since March of 2024 and now only has 90 Cinderwing files total on MMF, I wouldn't mind a swap to Thangs if we can bring all our files. I've been using the store work-around as needed still

I am so grateful that you acknowledge this issue. I thought it was something I did and I was devastated to think I lost all my amazing Cinderwing files!
