This is one of the big features in the performance templates for the Octatrack. This video demonstrates how powerful live sampling transitions are with a rather extreme example: Moving between genres and large tempo gaps. Love this setup! Great video as always Matt, one thing ive been trying to figure out tho, im interested in changing projects while on a loop from the OT and mix in a new track from the new project (thats why i like to have OT as a master) - the hard part is getting them back to sync together, when pressing play on the digitakt its following its own clock, and changing pattern doesnt let it "re-sync" back with the Octatrack. Maybe i need something like an external clock for everything or something, or clam everything into one live-project. If anyone has any ideas on this please let me know!

You would need an external looper. I used the Kaoss Replay for this but any stereo guitar pedal with MIDI or even tap tempo will work for this process. Sadly changing projects stops the OT audio out.

Thanks for sharing this! I have a question as I find the way to make the transition with the crossfader a bit to direkt as I am coming from the dj perspective having two channels with equal and if lucky also a filter per channel. would there be a way on the Octatrack to work like this? lets say I rum a Digitone and an Digitakt into the Octatrack playing my songs/patterns then live looping them both on one impeach pair and then changing patterns on them and mix them in on another track of the octa? I would send the signals first into a mixer wich has two mix outs so I could separate the two outs on the mixer and send them to the octagon to the other pair of inputs. my intend would also be to have those two trans on the Octatrack midicontrolled by my launch control xl so I would have that dj feel of mixing with filter and volume and eq. parallel I would like to use all of your parts a,b,c and d fx from your performance hyper combo. is this technically possible? I don't need to have other things in the Octatrack on the rest of the tracks only that scenario? Many thanks for your help! renato

I think you could do something like this with an added MIDI controller. The templates aren’t built for this exactly. Perhaps schedule a session with me and we can build it together

hei dear Matt thanks a lot. I just went trough your last tutorial from February 4th and just learned a lot how to build the two bus template from scratch;0) I think this can be a good basis for my intent, just thinking to have the two sides (tracks 1/2/3/4 and 5/6/7/8 for my two basic channels coming from the Elara mixer. right now I am struggling on the step to set up the live looping track on the tracks 4 and 8. am I right to assume I can have them set up to receive audio from neighbors 3 and 7 so I have all the fx into the chain? can I in a way record into the buffer of the flex machine the running 4 bar loop and imediately switch and hear just the recorded audio on track 4 without having that flange effect? I think I do something wrong even if I have followed your steps in the tutorial:0))) so if that would work I could like a dj mix in auto from mix 2 from the Elara into the right signal chan of the Octatrack channels 5/6/7/8. can I have a dj equalizer on track 4 and 8 so I can mix it like a dj? can I have the audio comment trough into these two channels without any fx as clean as possible from the Elara mixer kind of truth channels? I am a bit confused. I hope you can help me out. please let me know if you want to charge me something for the extra time effort you have that is no problem and I would appreciate this as I know time is very precious for everyone of us. good night;0) and many thanks
