Well, this took forever to build, mostly because I needed to learn the mechanics of the shift register - but then I had to make it as clean and tight as possible. Good code = less code. I also attached the file. Check it out if you like.

Ambient Melodies ~ 32 Channel Shift Register in ORCΛ

I spent a few days tinkering in ORCA until I felt I had perfected the shift register with help from Echophon. This is an ambient piece using four eight channel shift-registers. Each shift register stack is controlling a value: NOTE, OCTAVE, VELOCITY, and GATE LENGTH. This application is not a synthesizer, but a flexible livecoding environment capable of sending MIDI, OSC & UDP to your audio/visual interfaces, like Ableton, Renoise, VCV Rack or SuperCollider. I designed an ORCA hoodie with Hundredrabbits (Devine) blessing. so what exactly is a shift register, how and why would use it. would my digitone like it?

A shift register takes a value and passes it a new position. Think of it like a bucket brigade - one person passing the water to the next. I will be doing a tutorial on it and I will explain it in the video much better. You would use it for a new way of sequencing, works very well with chords and scales. Yes, your digitone would love it.
