OK, I done did too much stuff. The video thumbnail says it all.

Attached to this post is a zip called "Octatrack Templates." Inside you will find the the classic EXTERNAL REMIXER, the very unfinished EXTERNAL RYTM, and the even more unfinished version of EXTERNAL MODULAR. The External Rytm project is a lot of fun and works perfectly with any drum machine and a monosynth. The External Modular one does not have my most updated FX - I just threw it in the pile.

For External Rytm use A/B as your Drum machine input and use C/D as your synthesizer. I think using just input C as a mono input is what is going to get you the best results with the Resample Tracks on 5/6.

To create a loop hold track 7 on your Octatrack and press YES. After it has recorded a 4 bar loop both tracks 5 and 6 will share the recording buffer from 7. So using SCENE 14 and SCENE 15 will have a recording of all the instrumentation.

Scene 14 will play back the recorded audio in random quantized slices.

Scene 15 will play the audio back sliced linearly along the 64 steps with 16 slices - but with small decay envelopes, low-passed, and run into the reverb.

Note that scenes 14-16 will not function until you have recorded audio into buffer #7 - so dont forget hold track 7 and press yes. Wait to see the plus symbol next to track seven, after four bars those scenes are active - have fun.

Watch a replay of the stream if your bored and want to know how I made the template, I did a good portion of it live. A lot of Octatrack tips scattered across the 1.5 hours.

Take it ez,

-EZ

Elektron Talk: Live Resampling, iOS Sampling/Apps, Rytm Performance Template

In this live stream we talk about using the Analog Rytm as our main voice for performance while the Octatrack tackles live remixing/resampling. We also dive into the iOS App Transfer which you can use to make and transfer samples to many Elektron boxes including the Analog Rytm MK1 (basically you can sample directly into a Rytm MK1, it's sick!) We look at Fractal Bits, go over the "fastest" way to sample, and finally we build a few resample scenes while exploring the Octatrack FX engines. There is a lot more but you'll have to watch and see (because I don't remember). 0:00 Intro nonsense 2:52 The Stream! Thanks! My current setup is a octatrack, rytm, digitone and peak. Im still trying to find the best setup for routing through the octa though, probably by putting the peak through the DN and the rytm on its own track. Maybe add a mono synth through the rytm... hmm

That’s an excellent combo! I’d maybe just use the Rytm dual vco as my mono synth?

Hello! Nice to join up and meet some fellow techno, octa machines and modular peeps. Will be trying to extend and adapt your stuff into my workflow. Super inspired, cheers.
