This video teaches you how and why to use this cool overdubbing technique which I have added back to the template.

Press YES to start a recording of both inputs.

Perform on either the A/B side or the C/D side by adjusting parameters or playing new notes.

After that, crossfade to the scene that reflects those changes. If you were on the A/B side, crossfade to scene 14; if you were on the C/D side, crossfade to scene 15.

Once you've done this, select the side you haven't recorded on by highlighting the Track that records the opposite input. If you recorded on A/B, highlight Track 8; for C/D, highlight track 4.

Now prepare to play something on the machines you haven't recorded on and press REC 3.

At the beginning of the next 4 bars, the recording will start.

After you have finished recording, switch to scene 16. Your crossfader should already be fully engaged since you started on either scene 14 or 15.

I hope these instructions help you with your recording process. If you have any more specific questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

Have fun!

Quality stuff again my man, loving this! Making things more and more creative... It's just dawned on me you could throw a quick slice grid onto the recording buffer while crossfaded back to live playback. Then cue out the recording buffer track, arrange a new loop/add FX in your headphones and fade back. Slightly cumbersome needing to go to MIX menu, so would be nice if you could use a midi controller to fade that over but cant seem to find a CC for that.

Ridickerus. I can’t believe how easy and intuitive you have made this. Can this record in 8 bar loops?

ezbot

The techno performance Template is designed with 8 bar loops in mind, the ultimate FX 1.5 is designed around 4 bars turn arounds and loops

Hi mate. I’ve just joined - find your YouTube content inspiring and really informative. Where do I start? Got a new Octatrack, my first foray into the madness. Would really love to get it working as a performance tool like your template. Can I do this with my membership- apologies in advance, I’m an internet moron!

You sure can! Just download the template from one of the posts. The pinned post at the top of the Patreon feed has them all available at the bottom of the post. Just follow the instructions and have fun
