Patrick

Alex, The video hasn't premiered yet - and I love it. Brilliant, playful, toe-tappin' joy! Absolutely wonderful. You're the best my friend. Be well! Patrick in Pinehurst, NC

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Patrick, really glad you enjoy this style! Always fun to play!

David Lockwood

Great lesson Alex. So much information and learning come out of it

Nat Meacham

This is the stuff. Great, rich lesson. From Johnny Smith-style Moonlight in Vermont right to earliest electric Junior Barnard Western Swing. Thanks!

robert beyer

Great lesson! Excellent choice. I love Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. There is a great section on him in the Ken Burns Country Music documentary.

Ron Culbertson

Bob Wills in the Texas Playboy one of my all-time favorites. So many great players came through that group. Once again you made this Saturday morning very enjoyable thanks for this deep dive into a little more of the Texas swing. I did memorize the Jimmy Rivers things and play themas an exercise and fun. I think it made doing this much easier once again thanks a lot.

Marinho Del Santo

Saturdays have become special with Alex's videos! No doubt about that! Thank you my friend for feeding us with such excellent guitar knowledge!

Chris Bristow

Thanks Alex, just moved it to the top of the “have to learn” list. Love this style.

Michael Sosebee

Love this Stuff Alex. Keep it comin' mon Ami!

That's great Ron! I'm really glad you're partial to a bit of Western Swing! Well done on getting the Jimmie Rivers lesson down too! 👏🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

My pleasure Nat, glad you're enjoying the randomness of my lessons! 😅

robert beyer

That whole series is well worth the watch. I think you can get it on the PBS app. 8 episodes and each is about 2 hrs. It is a commitment.

Nat Meacham

It's consistently material with strong musicality and no wasted notes, isn't it? Flatwounds two weeks in a row, I think. Great stuff.

Mike Burns

Alex this is an absolutely wonderful lesson. And I appreciate you clearly saying how important it is to learn the fretboard. I finally worked on that in earnest about 3 years ago and my playing has been skyrocketing because of it. Wish I put the time in 20 years ago. Would love to hear that playlist! Been a big fan of JB for a while now

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you Mike, I’m glad you enjoyed it! And kudos to you for putting the hard yards in! 👌🏻

paul keim

Any and all Jr. Barnard / Eldon Shamblin lessons are very welcomed!

Reuben Brown

Love it! I wouldn't be sad to see more western swing alongside the rest of everything.

Gert De Groof

Ah…the much needed pep talk around 18”30 🙏

Andy Raper

Hi Alex... great lesson ..love this western swing !!

Julian Gurr

I’m very willing to practise my triads and arpeggios all over the neck as you urge us to do around 19 minutes into this lesson, but not entirely sure on the best way to go about doing this. Some specific guidance would be greatly appreciated, even if that just involves pointing me to one or more of your already made lessons. Thank you.

Alex Farran Guitar

Absolutely Julian, a couple of my lessons come to mind for this. I have one called the “triads survival guide” which is probably the best starting point. Also “The CAGED survival guide”. Just search for those in the search bar here on my page and let me know how you get on!
