Action packed and as twangy as it gets, this country lead guitar study on the changes to “Sweet Dreams” covers all of the ground you need for that authentic, vintage country soul guitar sound.

I’ve thrown the kitchen sink at this one: triads, steel guitar bends, double stops, sixths, bluegrass-isms and even a couple of volume swells.. but of course we keep things melodic, soulful and tasteful.. never cluttered, as we draw inspiration from every corner of the classic country spectrum.

Brilliant,Thanks. ,country played well,as you do ,sounds simple but is the most difficult. it took years for me to appreciate it.sweet lesson!

Ian Davies

Wow! Great lesson and so many ideas to work on. Thanks Alex, brilliantly presented as always 👍

Joel Heerboth

This is so beautiful! Can’t wait to dig into it!

Martin Lindsay

Enjoying my first visit Alex! Thanks 🫶

Stephen Mahlstedt

Instead of trying to immediately dive into the lesson, I decided, for a change, to just listen at first. I listened to the Patsy Cline version and then the Jim Campilongo and Norah jones version, and then the Roy Buchanan version… and then I listened to your interpretation several times, but at first, just listening, not watching. And now I’m both listening and watching. Haha! My point is, I’m trying to absorb and appreciate the material first. Maybe if I internalize the flow and vibe first, I’ll be more productive when I pick up the guitar?? Cheers dude!

Thomas

Yes, what Stephan said - in total agreement. Many thanks Soul Man...

That’s great Stephen, and is pretty much my preferred method also.. listen to as many versions of a tune as I can before sitting down to tackle it. 👌🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

I’m glad you came round to country music in the end Rick, I think many people take the same journey! 👌🏻🍻

Fantastic lesson Alex, thank you! I too am taking my time with this one rather than jumping right in. I've been enjoying hearing different versions of the song and also listening/re-listening to your version in hopes of internalizing before I hit the tabs. Usually I just jump right in (also fun). Thanks again!

Amazing lesson, I've been working on a lot in the past day. There's so much to did into here. Thank you!

alex farran

Wow, that is a lot of country vocabulary in one lesson. Very dense but also user friendly and logical. I'll be working on this one for a long time.

Such a smart way to tackle a new piece.. immerse yourself in it through listening first 👌🏻

Frank Todd

New to this site how do I get guitar tabs

Alex Farran Guitar

Hi Todd, welcome! Simply click on the lesson you’re wanting, and underneath my text description of the lesson you’ll see a download link to get the materials. They’ll come in a zip folder containing a few different formats to cater for every need. If you’re unsure about any of that, you can check out my post here describing the process in detail: https://www.patreon.com/posts/128491797?utm_campaign=postshare_creator

Lovely. Speaking of Hank Garland, could I make a request for a Baby Guitar lesson…?
