I was humbled and thrilled to be asked to be a part of this collaboration video on Adam Levy's fantastic "Guitar Tips" channel. He asked a few different players to play a 16 bar solo over his backing track.. a lovely bluesy soul vibe in Bb.

The video features myself, Joey Landreth, Jack Ruch, Tim Lerch, John Cordy, Jeff McErlain, Rich Hinman and of course Adam Levy himself.

The performance, of which I take the fist solo, kicks off at around 5 minutes into the video, but as always, it's very much worth watching Adam's beautiful introduction. Adam is a very inspiring individual who has shown me a lot of kindness over the past couple of years and I've been lucky enough to hang with him over a fish n' chip dinner too. It's worth mentioning that he has a book coming out soon called "String Theories - Tips, Challenges & reflections for the lifelong guitarist".. he sent me an advance copy to check out and I've been really enjoying it a lot!

I feel very privileged to be involved in this collaboration with so many fantastic players and I hope you guys enjoy the video!

Thanks so much, Alex :)

That's some mighty fine company you've found yourself in Alex! Totally rightgeous Adam put you in with all those great players. Joey's playing is so tasty...as is yours.

Gideon Marriott

A well-deserved place among some great musicians. You’re solo was great.

DENNIS CHUGH

Top of the heap in my opinion! Great solo Alex!

Roel Meeus

So cool and very happy for you! I love Adam Levy's channel, looks like a true gentleman, always soft spoken and with great musical taste. Needless to say you held your own on your solo :-) And wow ... That solo by Joey Landreth ... Some really sacred steel-sh*t ;-)

Jim Montgomery

Inspirational! I'll bet I'm not the only one who would love to see your solo become a lesson...

Adam Levy, the gentle giant, did a great job setting this up, it was very interesting and fun to watch you guys respond to his track. Everyone was obviously good, but I think Adam picked you guys for character first and chops second-well done everyone!

Thank you Roel, I really appreciate that! And yes, Joey is one of the finest slide players out there today!

Damian Gibbins

Great job. It is interesting to see all the style and tone choices of each of the musicians 👏

Alex Farran Guitar

Cheers Damian!.. Glad you noticed that.. I consciously wanted to do something a bit different tone and feel wise to what I expected the other guys to do, so I did give it some thought. Originally did a take with the archtop and a fat jazzy tone but decided to try and represent the spankier, twangier side of the tonal globe in the end! 😄

Ville Silventoinen

I have to agree, for me the most interesting solos were yours and Joey Landreth's.

As a newbi to this wonderful group… I think I’ve arrived home… so privileged to have access to such talented and humble players. Looking forward to the journey. Thanks Alex…

Alex Farran Guitar

Ah thank you Spokes, that's such a lovely comment.. really made my day to read that. Thanks for being here with us my friend! 🙏🏻

Mike Reilly

Your solo really stood out, even amongst such a great lineup. Any idea if Joey is related to Sonny Landreth?

Great to see my teacher (you, Alex !) soloing with all these aces. Among all of them, Jack Rush and you are definitely toping the list, congrats !
