John Petitt

Killer tune! Thanks Alex!

Eric Mintz

Ab-soul-utely right, John. Thanks for this gem, Alex. You are such a meticulous editor of your videos (as well as a great player and teacher!), but I think I caught a bit of duplication at about the 20:00 mark. Or maybe you just want to REALLY "make sure we REALLY pick up on how heavy you're swingin' it". (No need - it swings so hard, Freddie Green, must be smiling). I think there another repeat somewhere between minutes 11 and 13 where you say something like: "I told you that I wasn't really a modal thinker, but there I go again using a modal name" twice (with exactly the same expression, tone of voice, etc.). These are nano-flaws that don't detract from the lesson at all (and that 99% of viewers won'tnotice), but something tells me you are a bit of perfectionist, so I hope you don't mind me mentioning it here. Looking forward to the materials so I can revisit this melody. I learned it once, but never well enough to play it successfully over How High the Moon at my Friday jam session.

Thanks guys! Glad you’re happy with the song choice! 🙏🏻 Will add the zip file to this post in just a moment. Wanted to give you guys a sneak peak of the video before the premiere 👍🏻

Thanks Eric, I appreciate that! Man, I might quickly re-edit that and reupload then in that case! 😂😬 Thanks for the heads up!

Gert De Groof

Couldn’t wait to dig in…until I saw that first chord 😂. No…it’ll be fine. Thanks for digesting some CP with us! Lydian dominant, one of my favourite sounds! I love it when you throw in the scale theory. Some absolutely gorgeous phrases in here. Great tune. Take care Alex.

Thanks Gert, glad you enjoyed the video! I love the Lydian dominant sound too, very sweet 👌🏻

Gert De Groof

If possible Alex…could you upload the audio part separately were you play the head with the slow metronome (19.45) ? Would be great, but no worries if too much of a hassle. Great piece, getting it together, just not at lightning speed yet 😅

Gert De Groof

Thanks! It sure does, I’m used to learning from records, so having these in audio fragments that rewind more easily than the video parts is very helpful. The speed of the final version is still a bit out of my league for now. Hopefully some other members find this helpful as well!

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s how I learned to play too, so I totally get it. Glad it’s helpful 🙏🏻
