🇮🇹 ITA

Buongiorno miei carissimi Patreons!

Good morning my dear Patreons!

If there is one thing I truly love about shootings, it is that they rarely go exactly the way you imagined them.

I always start with ideas, of course. I build little movies in my head, I think about props, light, movements, possible atmospheres. And especially when I am about to shoot with a model like Valerie, with whom I had already felt a very intense connection during our first shooting, it is impossible not to expect something special.

But then the real moment arrives. The studio is there, she is there, the lights are on, the first shots begin… and you immediately understand that you cannot stay attached to the plan you had in mind.

You have to listen to what is happening.

With Valerie, that is exactly what happened.

I had imagined some sets in a very specific way, even with rather unusual props, but at a certain point I understood that not everything I had prepared would truly help the shooting move in the right direction. For example, I had thought about using honey, but while we were working I realized that, even if the idea could have been interesting, in that moment it was no longer necessary. Actually, it almost risked taking us somewhere else.

I explained it to her, maybe even with a slight need to justify myself, because when I give up on an idea it is never out of laziness or because “I don’t feel like it anymore,” but because I feel that the set is asking for something different. Valerie understood it immediately. She looked at me with that trusting tone of someone who is not simply following instructions, but truly taking part in the creative process. And that meant a lot to me, because it made me feel that we were exactly on the same wavelength.

With the clay, instead, the opposite happened.

That one had to be there.

The concept was strong, Valerie cared about it, and I saw her as absolutely perfect inside that kind of imagery. And in fact, the shots that came out have a very particular visual power. But as soon as we started, we had to face something very concrete: she was cold. Very cold.

And that, for me, became one of the most beautiful moments of the whole shooting.

On one side there was her, determined to bring that set home because she liked the idea and believed in it. On the other side there was me, wanting to create strong, intense images, different from everything we had done before, while also feeling the need to hurry, to make sure she was okay, and to get her under a warm shower as soon as possible.

It almost became a kind of creative mutual support. She was trying to hold on and give me everything she could. I was trying to shoot well, quickly, without wasting a single second.

And these are exactly the things that, to me, make a shooting something more than just a sequence of photographs.

Then, from that very situation, something else was born that I had not expected in that way: a photo and video sequence that happened right after, under the warm water of the shower. Something I had never seen done with Valerie before, something that truly gave me the feeling of photographing her in a new way, different, perhaps even more intimate and spontaneous.

But the most beautiful thing, in the end, was not even a single photo.

It was everything around it.

This time I did not just shoot a backstage. I recorded much more: laughter, small problems, moments of doubt, comments, jokes born out of nowhere, almost comic scenes we had not planned at all and that work perfectly exactly because of that. At one point Valerie even started speaking directly to the camera, fully aware that my FANATICs would be on the other side watching her.

And that was when I truly understood how special this shooting was.

Because with Valerie I did not simply find a wonderful model to photograph. I found a playmate, a partner in jokes, in strange ideas, a sincere, funny, explosive presence that makes being in the studio a pleasure even before it becomes work.

And I believe this will be felt very clearly in the contents that will arrive. Not only in the photographs, but especially in the videos, in the behind the scenes, in those small side moments that often tell more than a perfect shot ever could.

The shooting with Valerie was one of the most alive, fun and surprising I have ever created. Some ideas disappeared, others were born suddenly, others changed while we were doing them.

And that is exactly why, in my opinion, it worked so well.

Because it was not simply a constructed shooting.

It was a lived one.

If you want to see not only the final result, but also everything that happened around it, you already know where to find me: among my FANATICs. 🎥
