One Photo Is Never the Whole Story (Patreon)

Ogni giorno, ormai da anni, pubblico una foto su Flickr.

È diventato un piccolo rito quotidiano, ma anche una scelta molto meno casuale di quanto possa sembrare. Ogni volta devo decidere quale immagine mostrare, quale scatto possa fermare lo sguardo di chi sta scorrendo, incuriosire, lasciare addosso una domanda, magari far venire voglia di saperne di più.

Molti di voi sono arrivati qui proprio così: da una singola foto vista su Flickr. Uno sguardo, una posa, un dettaglio, una modella mai incontrata prima. Un’immagine che magari avete salvato tra i preferiti, commentato, riguardato, fino a seguire il filo che portava alla mia pagina Patreon.

E questa cosa, per me, è bellissima.

Eppure, ogni tanto, mi dispiace pensare che per molti tutto si fermi a quella singola immagine. Non perché quella foto non sia abbastanza, ma perché dietro c’è spesso un mondo intero: scatti più forti, immagini più dolci, dettagli nascosti, punti di vista diversi, momenti che raccontano la stessa modella in modi completamente differenti.

Ogni fotografia che pubblico fuori è una soglia.

Non tutto il mondo che c’è dietro.

Ed è proprio questo che dentro i miei FANATICs diventa diverso. Non c’è solo la singola immagine scelta per attirare l’attenzione, ma il respiro completo del set: la sequenza, le variazioni, gli scatti più delicati e quelli più intensi, i dettagli che fuori rimangono nascosti, il contesto, il racconto, i backstage, le scelte creative.

È lì che lo shooting smette di essere un’immagine isolata e diventa davvero una storia.

Per questo continuo a dire che Patreon non è una semplice vetrina di belle fotografie. Non è un posto dove accumulo scatti uno dopo l’altro, come oggetti preziosi da esporre. È il luogo dove il mio lavoro si apre davvero: dove sperimento, valuto, sogno, preparo, costruisco, sbaglio, correggo, creo, e solo alla fine pubblico quello che sento appartenermi davvero.

Anche i miei FANATICs, in tutto questo, non sono semplici spettatori. Con i loro commenti, le loro preferenze, le loro reazioni e persino le loro critiche, mi aiutano a capire cosa sta funzionando, cosa merita più spazio, quali modelle lasciano davvero il segno, quali direzioni vale la pena continuare a esplorare.

Ma c’è anche qualcosa di ancora più concreto, e non lo dimentico mai: il loro supporto mi permette di investire davvero in questa pagina. In attrezzature migliori, in props più curati, in set più ambiziosi, nella possibilità di coinvolgere nuove modelle, anche professioniste, e portarle dentro il mio immaginario fotografico.

Questo, per me, ha un valore enorme.

Perché significa che i FANATICs non stanno solo guardando quello che costruisco.

Mi stanno aiutando a costruirlo.

Se siete arrivati su questa pagina partendo da una singola immagine, da uno sguardo, da un corpo, da una posa o da una curiosità improvvisa, sappiate che quella era solo la porta.

E forse è arrivato il momento di vedere cosa c’è dietro.

Every day, for years now, I have been publishing one photo on Flickr.

It has become a small daily ritual, but also a much less casual choice than it may seem. Every time, I have to decide which image to show, which shot might stop someone scrolling, spark curiosity, leave a question behind, maybe make them want to know more.

Many of you arrived here exactly like that: from a single photo seen on Flickr. A gaze, a pose, a detail, a model you had never seen before. An image you may have saved among your favorites, commented on, looked at more than once, until you followed the thread that led to my Patreon page.

And for me, that is beautiful.

And yet, sometimes, I feel sorry thinking that for many people everything stops at that single image. Not because that photo is not enough, but because behind it there is often an entire world: stronger shots, softer images, hidden details, different points of view, moments that tell the same model in completely different ways.

Every photograph I publish outside is a threshold.

Not the whole world behind it.

And this is exactly what changes inside my FANATICs. There is not only the single image chosen to catch attention, but the full breath of the set: the sequence, the variations, the more delicate shots and the more intense ones, the details that remain hidden outside, the context, the story, the backstage, the creative choices.

That is where a shooting stops being an isolated image and truly becomes a story.

That is why I keep saying that Patreon is not simply a showcase of beautiful photographs. It is not a place where I accumulate shots one after another, like precious objects to display. It is the place where my work truly opens up: where I experiment, evaluate, dream, prepare, build, make mistakes, correct, create, and only at the end publish what I feel truly belongs to me.

My FANATICs, in all of this, are not simple spectators. With their comments, their preferences, their reactions and even their criticism, they help me understand what is working, what deserves more space, which models truly leave a mark, and which directions are worth exploring further.

But there is also something even more concrete, and I never forget it: their support allows me to truly invest in this page. In better equipment, in more curated props, in more ambitious sets, in the possibility of involving new models, including professionals, and bringing them into my photographic imagination.

For me, this has enormous value.

Because it means that the FANATICs are not just watching what I build.

They are helping me build it.

If you arrived on this page starting from a single image, from a gaze, from a body, from a pose or from a sudden curiosity, know that this was only the door.

And perhaps it is time to see what is behind it.
