Buongiorno miei carissimi FANATICs!

Good morning my dear FANATICs!
Today Valerie – The Shower finally arrives: the complete set of 45 photographs created right after Primal Clay and already previewed in the Director’s Cut Backstage – Final Chapter published on Tuesday.
As you saw in the video, this shower was not simply born as a “photographic set” built from scratch, but first of all as a very concrete necessity: Valerie had just finished posing with clay on her body, she was freezing, and she needed to warm up and wash everything off. Of course, I already had in mind to try and photograph that moment, but actually finding myself there, in that very narrow space, with her under the water and very little room to move, was a very different experience from what I had imagined.
The bathroom was small, truly cramped, and this forced me to work with very close, almost unavoidable frames. I could not move freely, I could not build any elaborate set-up, I could not even always choose the ideal point of view. But sometimes these very limits push you into images that feel more physical, more immediate, closer to the model. And with Valerie, honestly, that closeness worked beautifully.
I wanted to try two different types of light. In the first photographs, I kept the bathroom light on: softer, warmer, more enveloping, with a more natural and intimate result. Then I changed the atmosphere completely by using a spotlight aimed directly at Valerie’s body, creating sharper shadows, stronger contrasts and a much more graphic image. I am curious to know which version you prefer, because in my opinion they both work, but they tell two slightly different Valeries.
Beyond the light, however, once again she was the one who made the set special. Valerie proved to be sensual, available and professional as always, even in a far from comfortable situation, just after a cold and physically demanding set. Seeing the water slowly slide over her skin, the clay gradually wash away and her body naturally reappear was truly a wonderful spectacle to photograph.
For me, The Shower is the perfect ending to that small journey that began with Primal Clay: first the matter, the cold, the clay, then the water, the warmth, the skin. A set born almost as an inevitable consequence of the previous one, but which eventually found a very strong identity of its own.
Write in the comments which version you prefer: the softer and more natural one with the bathroom light, or the more contrasted and graphic one with the direct spotlight.
I am truly curious to know where your gaze goes. 🎥
