I love experimenting, and this time Melissa chose to follow me into an idea that became more and more absurd with every photograph: her against a white background, her silhouette as the only real element of the set, and increasingly wider lenses used to completely alter the proportions.

It starts with a perspective that still feels fairly familiar, then the lens gets wider, I move closer and closer, and her figure begins to transform in front of the camera. Hands suddenly look enormous, legs enter the frame from unlikely angles, and poses seem almost deliberately designed to challenge perspective itself. At a certain point, even the white backdrop is no longer enough: the ceiling, the edges of the studio and the lights begin to enter the frame, and everything starts to look much stranger.

And then something happens that you rarely see with Melissa: she laughs. Some of the poses were so absurd that even she, usually so intense and dark in front of the camera, eventually could not hold it in anymore. I kept those photographs together with the others because they perfectly capture how much fun we had pushing this experiment a little further each time.

There are 98 photographs, and I really suggest taking your time with them: the further you go, the less perspective seems willing to behave as it should. 😏

Buongiorno miei carissimi FANATICs!

Good morning my dear FANATICs!

This set started from a very simple idea: I wanted to use Melissa almost like a geometric element and see how far I could distort the perception of her figure by progressively changing lenses.

I started with the 35mm, then moved to the 24mm, and finally mounted the 14mm. That is where the set becomes genuinely strange. The 14mm is a completely manual lens, so in some photographs I consciously accepted losing a little precision, detail and sharpness in exchange for those exaggerated proportions and POVs that simply would not have existed with a more conventional focal length.

In some shots, I was much more interested in seeing a leg become enormous in the foreground, a hand almost reaching into the lens, or her figure bending into unlikely geometries than in obtaining a technically perfect photograph. And when I saw that Melissa was genuinely starting to enjoy the whole thing too, I kept pushing it further.

There is also a fairly unusual version of Melissa in Warped. Some poses were so absurd that she would burst out laughing, and I deliberately kept those photographs as well. They may be less perfect than others, but they are real, and above all they show a side of her that appears very rarely in our sets.

There is one more detail you will notice as you go through the gallery. Even when we work on very bold images, Melissa is normally extremely careful about how much she chooses to reveal. In this set, however, in a few poses she chose to go a little further than usual, and some of these photographs are probably among the most open we have ever created together.
