So I see Raven got the first scare. 😂 I did get to see this in theaters when it came out, and the atmosphere was incredible, especially when everything went silent and it was just the ambient lighting and what was on screen! Unfortunately there’s no sequel and not likely to be one. It underperformed at the box office, got low reviews from critics, and Leigh Whannell himself said that the shoot was miserable and called it “Dud Silence” Personally, and it looks like you two agree, I loved it. And yes, you are correct Roomie, this pick was pretty much inspired by your Goosebumps comments from a prior review. This was the best “Ventriloquist Dummy” horror movie I knew of and was hoping you’d enjoy it. 😊👍🏻 Apparently this movie was partly made due to James Wan’s obsession with creepy dolls which he says comes from watching “Poltergeist” This also reminded me of another horror movie from my childhood; Dr. Giggles. Both set in small towns, both with a killer from the town’s past and both having nursery rhymes dealing with the killer. (“Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children only dolls. And if you see her in your dreams, be sure you never, ever scream”) and (“Our town has a doctor and his name is Rendell. Stay away from his house, 'cause he's a doctor from hell. He chopped up his patients, every last one; and cut out their hearts purely for fun. So if you're from Moorehigh and you should get sick; then fall on your knees and pray you die quick”)
