Joseph's Hamon would indeed be able to harm Dio, assuming he got close enough to land a hit and Dio didn't do any shenanigans like freezing again, but he hasn't really been keeping up on training and has grown pretty old at this point, so he might not be able to physically move fast enough to keep up with immortal vampire Dio who's still in a suspended prime state.

And yeah, Joseph might be among the physically strongest (if not the strongest) in his group, but since his stand has next to no offensive utility and his hamon is almost never useful in stand battles, it's good and necessary that his buddies have really strong stands, despite their enemy being weak to hamon. Hamon also doesn't get created in stands, as they're not physical beings*, so there's little point in teaching his buds hamon either (though I bet at least Jotaro and maybe even Avdol would have a knack for it) because they won't come close enough to physically hit DIO with it. By the way I find it interesting that Hermit Purple has kind of clairvoyance abilities, considering how hamon can also be used to see the future (If you're Tom Petty at least). Since hamon had such a great influence in shaping how young Joseph learned to fight, it makes sense that the manifestation of his fighting spirit would also be heavily influenced by it. It might even be why his puny purple thorn branches are as weak as they are: Joseph only ever won his fights due to how he used his hamon and other tools at his disposal to defeat his enemy, never through brute strength. He's a genius and a trickster, him getting a super strong and tanky stand wouldn't fit his character. sorry for the long comment, if you've read this far you get a cookie as apology: 🍪🍪(I lied you get two)

To your point about Joseph, hamon isn’t anywhere close enough to defeating dio rn, otherwise part 3 would be too easy. So without spoiling, all you need to know is Dio has a crazy powerful stand (obvious since he’s the main villain) and Joseph can not in any world beat him. He would get destroyed if he fought Dio rn

Sorry, I'm not one to overstep my boundaries, is Jotaro's hair really that much of a special secret? If so, I'll let someone else say it first, but, like... I didn't think it was that big of a deal. In case I'm wrong, or was drunk that night I watched it, you guys can tell Luke about his hair. And no, he's not Saitama. Also, "shamed", uh... Yeah, in North America, we call that a euphemism. Bro, got his reasons to feel that angry.

Not to mention, that one of Joseph's defining characteristics in his story was PREDICTING what his opponents would say, to get to their head and make them lose focus in their fight! He fakes clairvoyance to give himself an advantage because he's a trickster, and has frequently used his best tactic of "Run away!" to change the situation around him. Hermit Purple is very fitting for Joseph's character.

Love to see me some good Jojo 👌I think that Araki (the mangaka of jojo) said at one point that Jotaros hat is acctually part of his hair 🤣 I wanna come back on the censore thing tho. I understand why most of the people dont care if it is the censored version or not but I think that in the future the uncensored version is better because the standnames are at some point copyrighted in the sub and I thought that wasn't the case in the uncensored version. Aniwatch has both the censored and uncesored version I think.

I like that Luke and I are on total opposite wavelengths when it comes to Jotaro's hair. When chat pointed it out my first though was 'He's styled his hair to look like a hat' while Luke went the other route and decided the hair is part of the hat. XD
