Funny how the lottery win isn’t the only thing that’s about to change their lives. Guess they might have had a different kind of jackpot in mind 😏... sometimes the real prize comes with a little extra protection! Yes, foreshadowing

I feel like everytime someone wins the lottery in a movie/tv show they get super paranoid about it. The only exceptions are in detective shows where the winner gets murdered for their winning ticket, in which case they probably should have been more paranoid about it.

Grimmer is back! Lunge and Grimmer teaming up is just the coolest thing ever!

I don't think they themselves thought they were going to react like this. People often put themselves in different unlikely scenarios in their mind and make up how they'd react, but nobody really knows until it happens.

João Victor

Man, you're treating them like they're a normal couple, when they're actually a crazy, paranoid couple. It's obvious that a sane person would just take the prize and leave the city, which isn't the case with this couple. :v

Captain Ari

Yep, Runge and Grimmer are the dream team we didn't know we need. And I'm so happy for Runge that he is still on vacation. He clearly needs it. ;p (Runge (for the 15th time): I'm on vacation. Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.)

Yeah, i would also want to know where that came from. I mean technically it could be both. Because Japanese doesn't have a letter for "lu", just "ru", so they wouldn't be able to spell "Lunge" in katakana. And Lunge is a german family name. And in an old translation it said Lunge apparently at some point. But Runge is also a german family name and used mainly in the translations now. So i would have thought it is just Runge. I mean i would just say both is fine and end it there but i'm curious to know now.

Japanese People cannot pronounce the Letter R and say it as L so at the start of Monster in the early episodes, it said Lunge in the Subtitles because thats how the Japanese VA said it later on they changed it to Runge

I think the couple is paranoid just because she won using the other guy's birthdate so they think he might be coming for the money thinking they owe it to him. Who knows.

Marien Panta

I actually found the lottery thingy kinda far fetch, too. I mean sure: you probably won't want to tell anyone for the time being and be a little bit paranoid, but as far as I know little towns and communities trust each other more than any neighbors in big cities would. So either these two were always kinda sus and paranoid or the whole town is weird from the beginning. Additionally: Yes this anime is a bit older but I'm quite sure that even back then buying a gun and even especially a rifle in Germany - in a secluded town even - should never ever be that easy. Don't even try to imagine all the rules that you have to follow before getting even close to a gun. That the husband just bought a gun should actually be way more suspicious than her using the birthdate of the other guy.

They can pronounce the letter R. But to them, R and L are the same.

I believe getting guns is not that hard in rural areas, if you have the money. It might be harder in some countries but people living in out of nowhere will have guns. But yeah, that couple might not be nicest people in this town.

Marien Panta

I see what you try to say, and it probably is true in some countries but trust me, it really doesn’t matter much whether it’s a rural area or not in Germany. My uncle and cousin live out in the country and each own a gun. To even get those, they had to go through the process of getting a gun license and prove they had a proper gun safe – and by that I mean one that’s ideally bolted to the wall, and quite expensive too. Even then, they only have specific types of guns meant for clay pigeon shooting at a local shooting club. Plus, the whole application process takes time – it can easily take months before it gets approved. Like I said, maybe the rules weren’t quite as strict back when the anime is set, but the idea that someone just drives to a shop and comes back with a whole arsenal… very unlikely. and I myself actually are living in an out of nowhere town (roughly 400 souls living here) and besides the two cops in the city, I don't know about anyone owning a gun.

Markus Wallin

No Luke, Grimmer did not give the dog a gun so the dog could take revenge.

In small little town there sometimes live small little people, and those small people will make anything into drama. They will assume that people want their money, and they will assume that people will steal it, and on and on it goes. I am not saying that all small towns have these small people in them, but they exist.
