Dark turn? I think it started dark 😂. I think must of us get you internal conflict in that final moment

Just Mate

This show really knows how to subvert expectations and is quite nuanced in regards to the topics it presents.

AlexanderCosplayAX

Awesome, I was waiting for this for a week. Time for trauma! 😭 I feel sad for Marina, while her actions are explained but not justified this is not the way to go. There should've been other ways, Marina is a child that could've still been saved but the authorities are too corrupt in this stories to intervene.

Ara Araragi

🎵Happy Lucky Chappy, don't leave me behind🎵

Touhou RS

And now you understand the title of the anime

Christo Badenhorst

Loved your reaction at the end. I was the same. I did not mind she died. I am honest. I was like Fuck it I don't care enough to give a shit... but then seeing the girl like just having a blast and super happy about it.. I just sit there and was like This feels so fucking wrong and fucked up man..... but I am also honest. I was also like fuck it. this baby needs protection. just wipe out this town if you have too especially all the adults

Kevin V

I agree with Luke, watching this is like a documentary. Documentaries depict the realness of life unfiltered, and life is sometimes tragic, crude, and unfair. Takopi's Original Sin does this while also adding fantasy elements.

Oscar Medina

No Marina was the best girl!

Joshua Vaughn

Apparently in the manga he restarted time 104 times with choppy before he finally gave up

Robert Dirk H.

You should watch Rainbow Nisha afterwards to experience worse childhood trauma :D

SouldeLuna

I heard you talking shit about our lord and saviour Takopi? He is the only one that did something. All adults suck ass, all the other kids did nothing. F the teacher in particular. Only Takopi!

Ara Araragi

I couldn't take any joy in Marina's end because I immediately started thinking about the consequences for Shizuka. And when she started saying how everything was fixed now, and that she could go and get Chappy, my stomach just dropped. She's so young and so focused on the fact that her bully is finally gone that she's incapable of realizing how much trouble she's still in, or that Marina probably wasn't lying about how animal control handled Chappy.

Harald Nassau

It hurts so much to see this Episodes ( i have seen 4). I have not had the experiences in my life. Thank god. To see how devastated it can be,makes me sad. I will continue the last 2 Episodes, but it leaves a lasting impression. :(

i just want to say that you're feeling EXACTLY how this anime wants you to feel right now, marina is a character that has been crafted for you to WISH for her death. That's what makes it so surprising and sickening when it happens. I can't wait for you to see what it does next

Sinbad_Deity

Marina needed therapy, she needed help, and to get away from her family, and to repent for her actions, she didn't deserve death. Now she will never get that chance.

Lunair

Yeah I don't know what to think or what I want to think with this anime.

Roy Meulblok

Luke, are you gonna check out Season 2 OP of Sakamoto Days? its a fucking vibe!

Lichmourne

My feeling towards her death was conflicted. Felt like she was taken before she had a chance to repent for her actions or redeem herself. Death is final. The story for her ends there. All the potential for redemption just gone.

Subaquatic Toaster

I am in fact deeply disturbed by people who are happy that a 4th grade child was murdered. She needed help, lots and lots of help.

FinalMasterM

"I didn't expect this reaction" She was literally traumatized, bullied, beat and had her only friend killed just because of her mother. You don't think that she'd be happy that the cause of all that was dead?! Whether or not we as viewers should be elated is based upon our own life experiences.

patros36

in an ideal world, yes....but we saw last episode what would actually happen, and to be honest, if i should pick one of them to survive, its gonna be Shizuka every time.

Joshua Vaughn

I dont want you to feel bad but I appreciate you viewpoints on it.

voi

I think the conflicted reaction is the intent; I certainly felt that way too. The show is very frustrating, but I think part of it is because in many ways that's realistic: Shizuka's sense of giving up rather than fighting back because she's accepted the bullying as inevitable, and the sense of joy she feels when her abuser is finally gone. I feel like Takopi was a blank slate who is now learning about the world via the eyes of an abused child. It's a warped, unhealthy mindset, and it makes the whole perspective and moral compass of the show very uncomfortable (in a way that makes it a very good show IMO).

BornOfOsiris

I'm sorry Luke but this kinda of bullying and Shizuka's naivety to her bully is very realistic... some of us just live a sheltered life and dont experience stuff like this in our lives. I can relate to being a bit irked by Takopi because he definitely isnt learning much, and his voice doesn't help, but that is kind of the intent in the writing and voice acting. But I could never be frustrated by Shizuka at all. She has been tormented by this girl for a long time, both physically and verbally. I can understand her wanting to go with her, when being bullied you will do anything you can to maybe get the bullying to ease up even if just a little bit, and even if its probably pointless

BornOfOsiris

Also yes, I was very happy that Takopi murdered Marina. 0 remorse at the time, its a show after all. But now later in the show, I am not sure if it was for the best

Daniel Griffiths

i do feel bad for her but... the consequences of your actions cant be controlled. moral of the story 'dont wish death on others, unless your willing to die yourself' be kind, karma comes around eventually even if times are hard atm... just keep looking after others and others will look after you.

Jack Flear

We still getting reaction or playthrough to Expedition 33?

Raingurr

If I remember correctly they're elementary schoolers so I can't say I ever hated or wished harm upon Marina. The intro ends with Takopi using the ribbon on Marina and Shizuka and I never considered reconciliation or friendship between the two an impossibility until Takopi killed Marina. At that point all chance of a happy ending with those two disappeared along with Marina's entire future.

HappyD

Luke's rage is so immense, he's literally seeing different colors. Impressive.

SQX Barto

The only unrealistic thing is how blind every f*** adult is. A big f*** D*E sign on the desk. I guess the teacher never see the desks... The mother: Why is there a flower in your hair? not why you look like you lost against Mike Tyson...

Nellyk

Gonna be honest, i felt very neutral to her death. Maybe because i see it just as a show, maybe because i can sliiightly relate because i was a victim of bullying myself (not as horrible as Shizukas experience though.) But i could easily imagine/sympathize that if you were punched, kicked, pencil-stabbed and verbally/mentally bullied almost every single day i think i would experience a huge sense of relief to see/hear that my bully died as well. It's definitely fvcked up that Shizuka got THAT happy but in the end her situation was absolute shiit.

Yako

I completely feel the same way, I honestly hate Marina, I can say that I understand her but don justify her, I cannot feel joy with her death, because, now we kill child as a punishment?, I don’t feel comfortable with that. I would love to see tok reaction to the rest of the show, for me is one of my most favorites show of all the time, I really love it and I know u would do it as well

Shendri27

Honestly luke i totally understand your feeling and this is why you are the best reation channel for me because you thinks the same way as i do so don't worry you are not a bad person you are clearly the opposit

voi

I feel like they're not blind, they're just apathetic, particularly if the bullying has been going on for a long time. The teacher may even be less inclined to interfere if she knows Shizuka's mother's work. (Is that awful? Yes. Are there actually people like that? Also yes) Also, I think the flower bit is lost in translation a bit. The flower is a dokudami, which is known for smelling kind of like dead fish. It is tremendously weird to want to put it in your hair, and the fact that Takopi's disguise makes him look like that really just adds even more insult to injury.

Subaquatic Toaster

I mean, we didn't get to see what would actually happen if Marina got the help she needed because she was killed. That's the whole argument here. She's a child. No one is telling you to pick a child to die. It was absolutely possible to save them both with proper intervention. But an octopus alien killed a kid and now everything is messed up with no way to fix it. Thats the whole original sin bit.

Shin

Seeing your reaction to this entire episode was honestly hilarious to watch knowing what happens at the end. Absolutely loved this LMAO

Joni

can't wait for you to react to the latest episode cuz things r getting epic

Unfixedsj

Loved the reaction. I cried for all the kids including Marina, always saw her as a victim of circumstance. Children are not inherently evil, they just learn from everything around them. So my frustration is not from the bullying, not from Takopi's naive innocence, it came from watching every single adult that failed their children, specifically all the parents that are supposed to raise them. I've binged many police cam videos lately, few of them with juveniles being defended by their parents, swearing their kids are good people eventhough the teens have history for getting in trouble. It is frustrating and yet some what realistic.

Katie Wyatt

Personally, I was thrilled for a few seconds when I saw Marina get killed, but knowing what I know about her prevents me from actually being happy about it. I feel the same way you do Luke. I just want her to be beaten up a bit, and everything she did to Shizuka get brought to light. That being said, I can (kinda) understand Shizuka being happy about Marina's death. As someone who was bullied, I can imagine getting bullied so badly you want someone to die.

Katie Wyatt

Hey look. This is the episode you learn Shizuka might not be the best person either...

nik

after the first episode came out, i was sucked in and read the manga. I was prayingggg they did this episode justice and they did!!!! Only thing i wished they animated was in the hospital room with the mom, the chapter had a line saying “106th Attempt” which basically means Takopi reminded time 106 times to stop Chappy from being taken but it still happened. Also secondly, im kinda surprised by your surprised reaction to Shizuka’s reaction to Marina’s death. I think Shizuka being happy makes perfect sense and realistically would happen since she’s been getting bullied by Marina for years and she was fucked up to her. I mean, Shizuka was nearly driven to suicide here (and she was in another loop). So at least i can see why she’d be thrilled if her main problem in her life was removed. Lastly, I’m pretty surprised you don’t like Takopi. Takopi himself is literally a baby in the world. He doesn’t know anything and doesn’t really know right from wrong properly. So it’s kinda like you’re getting frustrated by a baby doing baby-like actions and being innocent lolllllll

BadDecisionTheBold

Takopi after killing Marina: FUCKFUCKSHITGOBACKPLEASENOPLEASEWORKFUCKNO Shizuka: As thanks for helping me and showing me your happy gadgets, I'd like to show you one of my own. One that will make our problems disappear *pulls out shovel* In all seriousness, Marina may have been an absolute demon child but she didn't deserve THAT.

Some0neElse

TBH the only thing i feel sorry for is that it happened way too fast...

Recon

Not gonna lie, I'm usually a pretty indifferent person when watching anime but this is the first time I ever got frustrated while watching an anime that I had to drop it. I got so pissed about how Marina was bullying Shizuka in this episode and Takopi's uselessness made me drop the show. Closed it halfway through the episode. When Luke continued to react to it, I gave it another chance, and wow. I think I'm hooked again. Glad I gave it another chance.

Markus Wallin

Also this detail should be considered: There is a chance that everyone, even the parents, have been bullied to a certain extent and no one realizes just how far Marina goes. There is a chance that everyone has never seen bullying go that far and as such "it is just part of life". There is a chance that the teachers arent taught about the worst lengths, and there are certain aspects to Japanese school and work life in general that might be a detriment in these situations.

Zer0

Takopi not being useless

Alexander Ravensworth

Something I've not seen mentioned yet, is the idea that Takopi's gadgets and presence are, in essence, the fantasy-fulfillment of a depressed child. Not in actual story terms, mind you, but in analogy. All of the Happy-Gadgets do things that every bullied child imagines would solve all of their problems. "If only I could fly away from everything.", well there you have the wings. "If only I could be someone else.", there you have the transformation-gadget. "If only I could go back in time, and just make all the *right* choice..."... You get the picture. The final one, then: "If only my bully would just disappear..." Well. We'll get to see how that one unfolds, now won't we?

Hobiwater

The death scene was odd... Shizukas reaction was nothing like what I excepted, I thought she would be relieved that her bully is gone, yes but not happy happy if ykwim.

Hobiwater

I understand where Marinas character coming from, however I do dislike her a lot.. I didn't feel bad about her dying, didn't see it coming tho and felt worried for Takopi right away... Shizukas reaction threw me off a lot and I think Takopi probably was more throw off by it then I was bc its mission was to make Shizuka happy and it did, but it probs didn't expect that Marinas death would be the happy factor for her, got lil creature confused asf :')

Roli D. Great

When Luke said, 'Takopi, you fuzzy YELLOW...' just made my day xD

Roli D. Great

Also, Takopi's Original Sin is just being present and helping any victim whatsoever...(I know it sounds inhumane) but that's the real deal in today's life on this planet.

ClerZz IMO

I felt like you - I wanted her to get some form of punishment, but death was way out of the premise, and I didn't feel any satisfaction.

Aqua no Kiseki

7 mins in, the crash out on marina so good.

Aaren YASS

Yea i wanted redemption. Not retribution (of this level)

Vicente Gómez

Episode 1:"Kill her!" Episode 2:"I was joking!"

Vicente Gómez

Shizuka's mom is not only a bitch, she's a bitch too

Kigeki

tbh I probably was as happy as Shizuka was. There was probably no other solution to this. Even if he just hit her and she didn't die she would still keep doing bad things to her until Shizuka dies again. And like you said before, even if her situation is also horrible it doesn't justify bulying Shizuka into Suicide. Shizuka's Situation is even worse than Marina's and she also doesn't bully others and just wants to be happy with her dog and nothing else. Probably Marina also needs a dog idk man.

Zorgot

I think I just felt shocked more than anything like I didn't know how I felt, it was just so shocking and I didn't really stop to think about it, I had to keep on continuing watching to know what happens next

Kindyh Bordat

I was personally laughting and claping hands lol

Barack O. Llama

one of the best things I've seen in anime, i wish it was more brutal but im still happy she was killed
